Structure. governance and managefnent
GOVERNING DOCUMENT
The Charity was established as UKIM Communities Development and Welfare Limited as a charitable
company and registered with thè Charity Commission in 2008- Charity number 1127246. The Charity
was also registered with Companies House in 2008: Company nufflber 0661497. The governing
document of the Charity is the Memorandum and Artides of Association dated 04 June 2008,
amended by the members on 15 December 2008. amended by members on 15 December 2019 and
further amended on 16 August 2021 by virbJe of special resolution.
The name of Ihe charity was changed from UKIM Communities Development and Weffare Limited to
United Kingdom Islamic Mission on 28 January 2020.
STRUCTURE
The governing structure is described in article 9 of the metnorandum and articles of a550cialion of the
charity. The governing stnjcture comprtses of
1- The President
2- The Shura Council
3- The Executive Board
4- The Zonal President and Zonal Shura
Branches of UKIM and
6- The membership of UKIM
The Charity operates through the head office in London and its branches. established in many cities in
the UK. The Charity currently operales with 6 Trusteesldireclors who have been instructed by the
members of United Kingdom Islamic Mission to irnplement the planned changes and reorganisation as
approved by them in the previous years. At the beginning of current period the memorandum and
articles of association were approved by both members and charity
commission.
The Charity is funded by a subscription paid by members and associate mernbers. Many of its
symp21hisers also donate lo support local activities organised by the charity-
FINANCIAL CONTROLS
The Iruslees endeavour lo ensure that the funds and assets of the Charity are safeguarded through ils
financial contro15. These Gontrols are implemented by Iruslees. The membership also scrulinises the
accounts in the annual gathering of members: which is held al least once each year. The Charity tries
to review and develop its systems periodically to make improvements in ils accounting procedure5 and
financial controls in order lo meel Islamic and legal accounting obligations
RISK MANAGEMENT
The serving Trustee board (refèrred lo intemally as the'shura'l has assessed the major risks to which
the Charity is exposed. In particular, those related lo the operations and finances of the Charity, 2nd 15
satisfied that checks and balances, and systems are in place to mitigate the exposure of the Charity to
major risks. The central shura and administra￿"ve committee will constantly be appraising all ils
systems with a view to improving them.
The UKIM has urKlertaken a signfficant review and development plan to improve ils governance
slruclure, FX)licies and processes lo address the needs of the Charity. its donors and meet regulatory
objectives.

Objectives and activities
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The Charity United Kingdom Islamic Mission. Charity Number 1127246 (formerly known as UKIM
Communities Development and Welfare Limited) has numerous common objectives and acb'vities a5
lo United Kingdom Islamic Mission.. Charity number 250275. This new Charity structure was formed
with the view to improve governance and enhance operational a¢lTVitie5 by reorganisation and shrfting
structure of existing United Kingdom Islamic Mission Icharity number 2502751.
The objectives of UKIM are
Advancement of Islamic failh for the benefit of the public.
Provide relief lo those in need or other disadvantages by promoting education, relieving
financial hardship and poor health.
• The promotion of raci31 and l or religious hamony for the public benefit
To profflote justice, dignty. human right5 and social responsibility throughout the world.
To develop the capacity and skills of members of socially disadvantaged communities of
Muslims
•The relief of financial need and suffering among victims of natural or other ksnds of disaster.
The relief and assistance to victims of war or natural disaster, trouble. or catastrophe in any
part of the wodd
Achievements and performance
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The Irustees are pleased with the performance of the Charity during the year. The reslruclure and
associated resource mobilisation was successfully started and the transitional prO￿sS from the legacy
charity began loo. This resulted in the transfer of membership of entire local branch leadership lo the
new Charity slruclure. The election process for President and the first phase of trustee's election was
Ily completed. The second phase of zonal and central trustees followed in the subsequent months.
Funds raised during the year reflects the steady stsrt of operational activities those ￿11 continue to
enhance robustly in the coming years.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
The year under review is the second operational year of the revised charity slruclure. The income of
£349,02712021'. £45.389) demonstrate the activities of charity were siarled gearing up. This is mainly
due lo the post COVID-19 aclivities becotnir¥3 to normalise. Over the coming years, the Charity will
continue lo work robustly towards achieving its objectives.
The StateMe￿t of Financial Activities shows curreni assets fcy the year ended 31s1 March 2022 of
£391,181 {2021.. £44,543.00} representyng the SU￿￿$ on charitable activities. The Tmstees weTe
therefore pleased and satisfied with this progress.

Plans for future periods
FUTURE PLANS
The Charity Irlggered the transttion process in later 2021 by election of President and start of first
phase of truslee's election. The completion of the whole process was delayed. The trustees foresee lo
implefnent resiructured govemance and completion of transfer of membership form United Kingdom
Islamic Mission (Charity number 2502751 to United Kingdoffl Islamic Mission (Charity number
11272461 by end of 2022. 11 is hopeé Ihat United Kingdom Islamic Mission {Charity number 11272461
will become sole corporate trustee of United Kingdom Islamic Mission (Chartty number 2502751 after
the approval from the appropriate internal and external bodies. An ambitious plan to revitalise the
strategy of the organisalion has been initiated. an associated governance review and plan has been
put into action in order for UKIM to better meet its charitable objeclives.
Small company provisions
This report has been prepared in accordance wilh the provisions applicable to companies entitled lo
the small Companies exemption.

The charty is a public benefft entity and a wivate compary limited by guarantee, registered in
England and Wales and a registered charity in England and Wales. The address of the
registered office is 202 North Gower Street, London. NW1 2LY.
Statement of compliance
These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS 102. The Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland., the Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 {Charities
SORP IFRS 10211 and ihe Companies Act 2006.

The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the
revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair
