WELCOME BAPTIST CHURCH
REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Objectives and aims
The Trust seeks to demonstrate the Christian faith in action by being a church in the community of Heathfield, Sussex.
The trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Review of activities
2024 has been another encouraging year in the life of Welcome Baptist Church. We began the year with two Sunday services, as attendance remained strong and the need for space continued. Once again, our monthly combined celebration services helped to draw the whole church family together. These were well attended, with between 130 and 200 people gathering—around 35 of whom were children in Children’s Church.
Special services continued to be significant points in the year. Our Christmas Carol service was held in the local secondary school, which enabled us to welcome a larger number of guests from the local area. These moments reminded us of our calling to be a welcoming, outward-facing community.
Work continued on exploring the development of our adjacent property to create more space for mission and ministry. With some funds already donated and an architect working on plans, we prayerfully anticipate next steps as a church.
Our house groups, children’s groups and wider ministries have remained active and fruitful. The baby and toddler groups continue to provide a vital connection point with young families and our group for children with special needs has continued to thrive—meeting a very real need in the community. We also remain grateful for our vibrant children’s and youth work, including our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme.
The Men’s Weekend in 2024 was another highlight—providing space for deepening faith and friendship. The early morning men’s prayer time, started by Jeff Selby in 2023, has continued and is now a valued part of our rhythm of prayer, alongside the regular Saturday morning gatherings.
Pastoral care has remained a key focus. Sue Lade continues to serve with dedication and compassion in her pastoral role, offering consistent support across the fellowship. Other diligent and faithful members have joined her in this work. Joanne Martin’s work with children and their families continues to be vital and well received. Janet Cole has once again worked hard to keep the church family well connected and informed.
We are grateful to God for His faithfulness through 2024. As we look ahead, we remain prayerful and expectant, seeking to be led by His Spirit in all we do.

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024
FINANCIAL REVIEW
In the year to 31 December 2024 the Church received £7,817 more then it spent but £5,513 relates to restricted funds, so the general under spending was £2,304. Likewise the cash resources at 31 December 2024 of £48,459 are split £32,827 for general activities and £15,632 in respect of restricted donations, given for specified purposes and can only be spent for those purposes. The unrestricted cash at 1 January 2025 represents two and a half month’s expenditure (at 2024 levels) which the Elders/Trustees consider to be a reasonable reserve having regard to their plans for 2025.
