ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Demonstratlng our PLsbllc beneflt
We have considered the guidance publishe(I by the Charity Commission's on public benefit. We ￿VIeW
our aims, objectives and activities each year by reviewing what we have achieved and the outcomes
ol our work. The review looks ai the success of each key activity and the benefits they have brought lo
those groups ol people we are trying lo help. The review also helps us ensure our aim. objectives and
activi1185 remained focused on our stated purposes. Some key aspects of our public benefit in 2024
include..
We match people with feline and canine companions, providing them with a valuable four-18ggèd
fri&nd and family tnember. Every year we receive feedback from many ol those who have adopted
and loslered dogs and cats from us to tell us how the love and companionship of their Gables cal or
dog has improved their lives.
Wè provide a broad range ol ongoing advice and guidance to our clients care lor their cats and

We offer support and advice to anyone struggling to care lor theirdog or cat and when it's the best
thing lor everyone. we lake in dogs and cats and find them new homes. Dogs and cats are brought

accommodation, financial problems, relationship breakdowns. and family crises, as well as the
anirnals behaviour. We never judge, oftering pea￿ ol mind and a safe, reliable way lo rehornè a

8y helping pèople to adopt dogs, who neèd regular exercise as part ol their care, we provide the
catalyst for people lo get fitter and healthier.
Our Animal Care Card scheme provide5 peace of tnind for pèi owners, with the promise that we
will care for their dog or cal in the event of their death.
We rehome feral cats which helps local eommunilies who suffer from over population problerns.
We maintain a lost and found register which helps lo reunile people with their beloved pets.

has 8nable(J the charity to have one of the lowesi, if not, Ihe lowest, return rates in the county.
We 5p8cialise in taking in and earing for many animals thai other rehorning eenlr83 either lurn away or
do not have the expertise lo help. These are likely lo be animals that have been abused or neglected,
$0 will slfuggle 10 cope with everyday life. These may be feral cats that cannot be handled by p80ple
ai all and need lo be rehomed 10 a rural selling such as a fartn or stable yard. More commonly they
can simply be dogs and cats who are elderly aniyor hav8 medical conditions thai can be very costly or
have behaviour problems that can be incredibly diffi¢ull lo overcome. The charily wlll treat any m8dical
or behaviour problems the anirnals may have and then assess individual needs as far as rehorning is
concerned.
As the charlly operal6s a policy ol non-eulhanasia, there is no limè limit on any anlmal and as long as
the animal is eonieni and can cop8 with everyday life Ihon il will remain al Ihe cenire unlil a new home
Is found. The charity eonsiders itself lo be a reputable rehominu cenlre and as such believes il woukl
bè irrosponsible to rehorne anirnals quickly to anyone lusi 10 achieve a high lurnovar.
Worklng wlth othér ag•nel•s
We have continued working with other local anlmal ¢harities across Devon, Comwall and Somersgt to
rescue dogs and cals in desperate nèad of h8lp. These animals were belng kept in shocking eondllion5
by local br&ed8rs, puppy farms and animal hoarders, Caring lor animals that have been rè$¢ued from
these 5ilualions is very difficult bul extremely rewarding. Although il Can lake a long lime lo gel them
medically as well as mentally fil, we arelhrilled to have rehomèd fflany oflhern lo wondèrful new homes,
although some remain with us as they continue on iheir rèhabililalion journey. Wè also a5S1Sted our
