## Farley Wood Community Association at the **FARLEY WOOD CENTRE** Turnpike Road, Binfield, Berks. ## **’ – - Chairman s Annual Report 2021 2022** - ✓ _**Many thanks to the committee** for another year of donating their time,_ _**Ling** in particular who took over as Treasurer and reworked our monthly, quarterly and annual accounts records and produced an excellent set of management accounts._ - ✓ _Thanks too, to the continued assistance and help during the year from_ _**Sam , Alan** and_ _**Luke** of the Bracknell Forest Borough Council. Sam left in the second half of 2022 and_ _**Candice** has taken over as prime contact and is already proving to be a great advocate for us._ - ✓ _And thank you to the_ _**Binfield Parish Council** for its continued support._ _**Ceri** became actively involved in working with us in the second half of 2022 too._ - ✓ _Also thanks to the_ _**various organisations** that have been regular hirers of the hall and facilities, and who provide the community with an excellent range of activities. I feel that the relationship with the organisations is an excellent one and particular thanks to the organisations who regularly contribute to the committee meetings, namely the Dance Academy, Plus3 Nursey, KIDS, Bracknell FC and Latika tennis._ - ✓ _And finally, many, many, thanks to our Manager,_ _**Dave** , for another year in which he has ensured that the Centre has been very well looked after to the huge benefit of its users, both regular and occasional, who have reported on many occasions how much they appreciate the assistance he provides._ _In summary, the Centre has continued to support the community with many organisations offering regular activities to a wide range of community members, and, as covid-recovery continues, one-off parties, etc. are resuming. As a result, although we continued to support regular hirers with discounted rates to recognise the cleaning efforts they have made, we managed to make a small profit to the year ending 31/03/2022._ FWCA 2021-22 Report Page **1** of **2** **----- Start of picture text -----**

## Farley Wood Community Association at the **FARLEY WOOD CENTRE** Turnpike Road, Binfield, Berks. ## _During the year:_ - ✓ _We continued to invest in the Centre, with our most significant spend being the refurbishment of the small kitchen: removal of the old sink and steel cupboards; installation of new worksurface and cupboard; installation of new dishwasher. We also purchased a floor washer/cleaner which has made the cleaning of floors much quicker and easier._ - ✓ _The utilisation of the Centre continues to recover after Covid: not all regular organisations decided to resume, but several new ones did, and queries for occasional hire (typically children’s’ parties) continue to increase._ - ✓ _**The ‘Summer of Fun Event’** run by the Parish council with support from the Borough in July. Again we supported the event with no charge for use of the Centre and Dave promoted the event to our various Organisations._ - ✓ _We experienced some maintenance issues associated with the age of the Centre. We have worked closely with the borough council and all were resolved either temporarily or completely, but it is worth noting the following remain outstanding_ - _Sports changing rooms showers: the showers are never used yet are flushed through weekly (to guard against legionnaire’s disease). We wish them to be capped._ - _Hall skylights: not all work, so some are permanently closed._ - _Main boiler: was repaired again but is in need of replacement_ - _Water Softener was replaced._ - _Cooling the Hall during the summer: this is still a concern as the various attempts to reduce the heat that we have made (eg hiring coolers; purchasing fans) have not been effective. We continue to try and get expert assistance and recommendations from the borough council._ - ✓ _Finally, we look forward to another successful year; of continuing to work with all our Centre users, Representatives of regular groups, and with the councils, to ensure the Centre best meets the needs of the local community._ FWCA 2021-22 Report Page **2** of **2** **Farley Wood Community Association** |**Accounts 2021/22**
