## **NORTH HEATH FAMILY CHURCH (Registered Charity No. 1127133)**

## **Annual Report – 1st October 2021 to 30th September 2022**

## **Introduction**

The main objective of North Heath Family Church is to share the Christian faith with the people of Northumberland Heath and beyond. The church aims to be a positive expression of faith in the community through a practical demonstration of the love of God to all those we come into contact with.

Unfortunately this year has been difficult to engage with the community in the normal way due to the ongoing restrictions of the pandemic. As such many of our usual events have been abandoned.

## **Community Activities**

We have found that providing free activities has been helpful in allowing people to get to know us and see us as a part of the community. It creates an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions about the Christian faith – or simply just provides an opportunity for struggling families to find support and advice.

Historically our Fun Days have been the backbone of our activities but sadly due to Covid restrictions we were only able to host one event this year. Consequently we have had to look for alternative ways of engaging with the community, which has included cream teas for the elderly, Christmas movie night (including a night adapted for special needs children).

Sadly our Youth club had to stop after many years because of Covid restrictions and has not restarted due to a lack of staff.

## **Support for Other Groups**

In addition to the work that North Heath Family Church does locally we support other charities of a similar nature and with similar objectives. There are two in particular that receive a regular percentage of our income.

The charities are:-

- Christian Resources in Bexley Schools (Charity No. 1122295) which receives 5% of our income

- Slade Green Foodbank (St Augustines Church Hall, Slade Green)

Further information about the objectives of these charities can be viewed on the Charity Commission’s website.

## **Final Comments**

As the minister I want to express my sincere gratitude for the countless hours that the members of the church give every year free of charge – in addition to the generous financial donations. Without these willing volunteers we would not be able to continue our work in the community.
