## Activities

**Objects:** The objects of the charity are for the public benefit, with a focus on supporting Polish and other Eastern European communities living in Nottingham and the East Midlands: (1) The relief of financial hardship among individuals and families in need by providing information, guidance and advocacy to enable them to access services, understand their rights, and overcome barriers caused by limited financial resources.(2) The advancement of education by providing English language tuition, digital skills training, and access to information and learning opportunities which improve knowledge, skills, confidence and independence.(3) To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Nottingham and the East Midlands the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.(4) To promote social inclusion for the public benefit among individuals from migrant and minority communities who are socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion due to language barriers, financial hardship, discrimination, unemployment, social isolation or social and economic disadvantage, by assisting them to integrate into society in such ways as the trustees deem to be exclusively charitable.

**Activities:** SPS services include: English language courses, 1-2-1 information/signposting sessions, publishing Polish monthly newspaper &quot;East Midlands po Polsku&quot; informing about local life, maintaining www.empp.co.uk, organising workshops, social gatherings, events, developing a sense of community, working towards community cohesion.  SPS organised FestiWal 2009 - A Community Festival with a Polish Flavour.
