This is the report of the Trustees for the year endlng 31st March 2024 for L15vane Baptlst
Church.
Governance Jnd Structure
Llsvane Baptist Church Is constltuted as a charltable trust reglstered with the Charity Comm1551on in
November 2008 under charity number 1126878. It is governed by a constltution last updated In 2009 based
on the model Constitution developed by the Baptlst UnSon of Great Brltoln. Under th15 constitutlon the
trustees are appolnted by the Church Mernber5hip and a￿ responslble to the Church Members for the dav
to day runnlng of the Church. Church Members, meetln85 are held at least quarterly and have final
authorlty.
Purpose
The PTlmary purpose of the Church Is the advancement of the Chrlstlan falth accordlng to the prlnclples of
Ihe Baptist denomlnatlon. The Church also seeks to advance Chrlstlan educatSon and carry out other
haritable purp05es In both the Unlted Kln8dom and in other parts of the world.

Pastoral Care
In addition to the above actlvlties the trustees seek to ensure that every IndivSdual assoclated with the
church is Cared for and supported physlcallyi emotlonèlly and spiritually to the best of the church's abillty.
In order to facilltate and oversee the assoclated actlvities, one of the deacons Is given a speciflc role of
Pastoral SuppDrt.
Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults
The trustees consider that the SafeguardSng of chlldren and vulnerable adults requlres the hlghest levels of
attentlon. To th15 end the Church has developed a Safeguarding Pollcy based on the template provided by

the Baptlst Union of Great Britain. In line wtth this w)Ilcy the Church has appointed Lesley Scarratt as the
Deslgnated Person for 5afe8uarding IDPSI.
Premlses
As noted above most meetings are held in the local village hall which we believe helps to deflne our place
at the centre of the local communlty. The Church owns two residential properties In close proximity to the
village hall, bDth of which have previously been used as manses to house full tlme staff members, but are
currently leased out to tenant5. In addition to these two propertles the church a150 owns a Small two-
storey office and meetlng room which wa5 built a5 an annex to one of the two manses between 2020 and
2022. The offlee also serves as a meeting room for 5m8ller gatherings of church frlends and members.
Stafllng
During the 2023-24 flnanclal year there were no pald Staff members. The church ha5 contlnued to operate
wlthout paid staff. wlth the trustee5 offering the necessary guldance and other members and frlends of the
church glvln8 of thelT tlme and glftings In order to further the work of the Baptlst Church in Llsvane,

Wh115t there are no paid staff and both manses are leased out, there15 a surplus of Income over
expendlture, and thls has allowed the church to Increase It5 flnanclal 8ivlng to oiher charltle5 whlch are
5ympathetlc to the Church's alms and oblectives both locally and further afleld, whllst ¥150 Increasln8 the
reserves held on account. The church antlclpate5 employlng a full-tlme mlnlster In the next flnanclal year
12024.251 at which polnt there Is Ilkely to be a deflclt of Income versu5 expendlture for a perlod of time.
The reserves whlch have been accrued are expected to cover thls deflclt for at least three years,
Reserwes Pollfy
The church alms to hold funds to cover ai least 51x months expendlture and to offer flnanclal securlty of
employment to a new ernployee of at least 3 year5.
Afflllatlons
The Church Is a member of the Baptist Unlon of Grèat Brltaln IB3pt15t Unlonl and the South Wales Baptlst
Associatlon. It Is also a member of the L15vane Community Assoclatlon.
Financlal Glftlng by the Churth
The church supports a number of other charltles whlch It considers to be aligned to the purpose5 of the
church, by both regular glftlng and o¢ca51onal one-off gifts. Regular 8lftln8 15 made to:
Teacher Ald. A local charlty whlch supports Nsobe Communlty School In Zambla
Rainbow of Hope. A local charity 5UPPOrtlng homeless and vulnerable people in Cardiff
BMS (Baptlst M1551onary Societyl World Mission. a charlty SUPPOrting wSder Chrlstvan mlsston
around the world.

Lookini to the Future
The trustees and church members are now in agreement that a full-tlme minlster should be appolnted and
the church has entered the Bapt15t Vnlon 'setilement" process whlch circulates such vacancles to Baptist
Unlon accredited ministers seeking a position. Notwithstanding thls antlcipated appolntment, The Church

recognise the need to progress its olm5 and It is actively pursulng opportunitles for growth and
development of the splritual life of members and of the wider communlty.

The charlty opted to early adopt Bulletln I publlshed on 2 February 2016 and have therefore not Included a
