with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 31 December 2021.The financial statements comply
with the Charit￿S Act 2011. Ihe Companies Act 2rx)6, the Memorandum and Articles of Association, and
Accounting and Reporting by Charit*s'. Statements of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities p￿parIng
their accounts in accordance with the Financial ReportÉng Standard aPpI￿able in the UK and Republ￿ of Ireland
{FRS 102> (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

In shaping OUT objectives for the year arKI planning our athitse5, the tfustees have considered the Charity
Commission's guidance on public benefit. including the guidance 'public benefit". running a charity {P02). The
achievements and aclivib'es above demonstrate the public benefit arising through the Charity's activities.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
During 2021 ACOUK continued lo raise funds lo support the future activities of the ACO in the UK.
Due lo the Covid-19 global pandemic, the planned three-day residency by the full Orchestra al The BarbKan was
cancelled for a second year iunning.
As soon as Australia's Inlernalional borders re-opened a quartet of Prrncipal musicians, led by Richard Tognetti,
was able lo travel lo London in December 2021 for a week of private performances and events. Events included a
performance and reception hosted by DFAT al Australia House, a perforrnan¢e at a private home in Su55ex, a
private performance at a Fitzrovia Gallery and a private performance at the Royal Overseas League Oespile the
UK wave ol Omicron, the performances were well attended and provided an invaluable opportunity for the ACO to
reconnect with Brilish sUPPQrters.
Throughout 2021, ACO UK continued lo engage with supporters and donors through a quarterly newsletter. in
addition to the ACO'S digital offerings.. ACO Homecasts and ACO Studrfasts.
ACO UK activity during 2021 enabled ACO UK to secure £28.162 10 5UPPOrt the ACO'S future UK touring activilies.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
The Statement of Financial Activities showed a net surplus of £27.082 (2020- net deficit £12,093) for the year and
reserves stand al £62,515 {2020- £35,433).

Under the Memorandum arKI Arts'cles of AssociatK)n. the Charity has the power to invest in any way the Trustees
wish. The policy of the Trustees is to invest any surplus ftjnds on bank derxisrt.

ACOUK will hold reseNes to ensure the ACOUK is a going ¢on¢em and has the ability to make grants lo the
ALJslralian Chamber Orchestra Pty Ltd lo support Ihe Australian Chamber Orchestra's aclivitses in the UK where the
Australian Chamber Orchestra {ACOI has demonstraled that these aelNilies have or will promote the educats'on of
the public in the arts of music or opera. Grants to the Australtan Chamber Orchestra Pty Ltd will onty be made by
and al the discretion of the Board of ACOUK.
The company's reserves al the end of the year stood at £62.51512020- £35.433).
Grant Making Policy
ACOUK Board can approve a charitable disbursement lo the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) once the
following conditions have been met to the sab"sfaction of the ACOUK Board..
1. The Managing Oireclor of ACO has made a request in writing lo the Directors of ACOUK for the allocation of a
specified amount or range of funds from ACOUK.
2. Included in the request are".

lif the request is for reimbursement of the cost to the ACO of completed aclivilses in the UK for
which the ACO has nol previously sought reimbursemenll the aclivitses for which reimbursement
is sought. and.
lif the request is for ¢overage of the cosl to the ACO of proposed activities in the UK for wh￿h the
ACO has not previou5ty Sought coverage} the aclivilies for which coverage is sought,. and
b) a short narrative outlining how the proposed alkxation of funds meets the chariiable objectives of
ACOUK {as outlined in the ACOUK Conslilutionl.
3. The ACOUK Board will rev￿ and consider ACO'S request. taking into consideration ACOUK'S Reserves
Policy. 11 is al the discretion of the ACOUK Directors, having regard to the purposes of Ihe ACOUK and Ihe
ACOUK'S Reserves Policy, to'agree lo the request.
4. Before any requested allocation can be made. the request must be approved by a majority of ACOUK Directors
al a meeting ol Directofs.
5. ACOUK Directors will revert wlh a response in writing to ACO within 10 business days of the request being
approved by the ACOUK Board and advise the quantum of any allocatson and when approved funds will be
paid to ACO.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
In Oelober 2022 the Australian Chamber Orchestra will tour to London for three concerts al the Barbican as
International Associate Ensemble al Milton Court. While in London. the ACO in Australia will collaborate with ACO
UK to present a special prNate perf￿rnanCe to Ihank donors and supporters.

ACOUK is registered as a company limited by guarantee and not having share capital. Its operations are governed
by its memorandum and art￿￿S of association IM&AA).
The company was incorporated on 21 April 2008 and registered as a charity on 18 November 2008. The chafity
registration number is 1126782 and the company registration number is 06571691.
Recruitment and Appointmont of Trustees
As sel out in the Atb"cles of AsswratH)n, the Chair of the TnJstees is nominated by ACOUK. The Direetors of the
organisatson are also the chanty Trustees for the purposes of charity law.
The Board of Trustees have power to appoint additional Truslees as il considers fil to do 50. The Trustees have no
beneficial interest in the company other than as members. The Trustee5 are also the Directors of the company.

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES
1.1 Basis of accountlng
The fir*ancial statements of the charitable company. wh￿h is a publi¢ tr*nefit enbty under FRS 102, have been
prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 102) 'Accounts"ng and Reporting by Charities..
Statement of Recommended Practice appI￿ab￿ lo Charit￿S preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102) (effective l January
20191., Financial Reporb"ng Standard 102 The Financial Reportirkg Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland, and the CompanEs Acl 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the
historical cost convention.
The financial 5tatemen15 are prepared in sterling. wh￿h is the functional curren¢y of the Charity. Monetary
amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
1.2 Preparation of accounts on a going concern basis
The Charity's Financial Statements shows a nel surplus of £27.08212020 - net defictt of £12,093) and free
reserves of £62.515 12020 - £35,433). The trustees are of the view that these results have secured the
immediate future of the Charity for the next 12 months and on this basis the Charity is a going concern.
1.3 Income recognition
Income is recognised when the Charity has entitlement to the fijnds. any performance conditions attached to
the itemls} of income have been mel. it is probable that the income will be received and amount can be
measured reliabty.

1.4 Volunteers and donated services and faeililies
Donaled professional services and donated facilities are recognised as income when the charity ha5 control
over the item. any conditions associated with the donated item have been mel. the receipt of economic benefit
from the use by the charity of the item Is probable and that economic benefit can be measured reliably. In
accoidance with the Charities SORP (FRS 1021. the general volunleeT lime of the Charity is not recogni5ed in
the main body of the financial accoynts, but detail is contained in the Trustees report. No volunteer
contributson during the year.
On receipt, donated professional services and donated locilities are recognised on the basis of the value of the
gift lo the charity which is the amount the charity would have been willing to pay to obtain services or facilities
of equivalent economic benefit on the open market., a corresponding amount 15 then reeognised in expenditure
in the Per￿￿ of receipt. No such services were received during the year.

1.5 Expenditure recognltion and Irrecoverable VAT
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal QT ￿nstruCt￿e oblKJation lo make a payment to a third paty, it
is probable that Sett￿ment will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliabty.
Expenditure is classified under the fdlowing activity headings=
Expendrture on charitable activiti.es include expenditure assoeiated with the main objectives of the
Charity and include t￿th directs costs and their assc¢iated supp)rt costs.
Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the a¢tivty for which the expendf(ure was incurred.
1.6 Allocation of support costs
Support costs are those funckn.ons that assist the work of the charity bul do not directly undertake charitable
activit￿s. Support costs include back office costs and governan￿ costs which support the Charity's aclivilies.
These costs have been allocated to expendrture on charilable activitbes.
1.7 Funds structure
The general fund comprises those monies. whKh may be used toward meeting the charitable objeclNes of the
company at Ihe discrets.on of the Trustees.
1.8 Cash flow statement
The charity qualifies as a small company under the Act and the trustees have elected to take advantage of the
exemption in the SORP from the requirement to prepare a cash flow statement.
1.9 Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation tsx on its charitable aclNilies.
1.10 Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recDJnised at the settlement amount due after any trade discount offered.
Prepayments are valued al the amount prepaid net ol any trade discounts due.
1.11 Ca$h at bank and in hand
Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short temi cash deposits.
1.12 Creditors and provisions
Creditor5 and provisions are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulling from a past event
that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due lo settle the obligation can
be measured or estimated reliabty. Creditors and provis￿n$ are notmally recognised al their settlement
amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.

1.13 Flnancial instruments
The Charity's only has financial assets and financial liabilrt*s of a kind that qualify as basic finaneial
instruments. Basi¢ financial instruments are initialty recognised at transaction value and subsequently
measured al their settlement value with the excepkn of bank loans whKh aTr subsequenty measured at
amortised cost using the effecbve interest method.
1.14 Judgement and key sources of estimation uncertainty
In the application of the company s aeeounting polic￿$, the charity is required to make judgements, estimates
and assymptions about the carying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other
sources. The estimates and associated assumptKJns are based on historical experience and other factors that
are considered to be relevant. Actual resuhs may differ from these estimates.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting
eslimales are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that
period, or in the period of the revision and frjture per￿S where the revision affeels both current and future
periods.
