## **OUR MISSION STATEMENT**

We provide a safe and supportive environment for educational and recreational activities in order to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of our beneficiaries. Guided by a needs led, holistic approach, we empower individuals to become confident, independent and active members of their community.

Our work is specifically aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals within our community to have a positive impact on their health and well being, breaking down barriers of social isolation, creating opportunities for positive change that will enhance their quality of life and lead to a wider social change.

## **Message From The Chair**

During this difficult and turbulent time we strive to continue to support our community with the provision of our recreational, stimulating and educational programmes and activities that support young people and young people/adults with learning difficulties and their families

across the city. We have also now extended our program to reach a more diverse community and offer service provision for everyone.

Our services have continued virtually through the lockdowns and in-between with many restrictions on our mobility, we have been working more and more in a virtual world. We are now seeing some restrictions being relaxed; however, we will still be offering a remote service to run alongside our face to face work as we are aware that many of our vulnerable community members are still not ready to re-join us physically. We offer this to encourage positive growth of their health and wellbeing.

We continue to expand our therapeutic service, ‘pastal arts and wellbeing’, in delivering our excellent quality of service through the provision of tailor made holistic programmes. The successful outcomes of this service has led to the training of two workers to professional master’s level in Mindfulness. Mindfulness enhances and expands outcomes and successes as it complements the therapeutic work already provided, leading to growth in positivity and wellbeing.

We would like to thank all our generous supporters, our dedicated staff team and volunteers that have contributed to our success.

John Turner Chairperson. On behalf of the Board

## **Update From Managing Director**

Many of our service users have found them-selves feeling lonely, vulnerable and scared during these uncertain times. As a community service we have had to adapt and change to serve the needs of our members, positively. We identified areas that people were struggling with around stress, anxiety, learning to cope in a new environment and much more. Due to community need and demand we found ourselves in a position where we needed to expand our services to offer provision to a much wider

demographic across our City, offering many new adult support groups. In light of this, we developed our therapeutic services further by a colleague and I, completing training in Compassion Focussed Therapy and Professional Masters Level in Mindfulness. We have now developed individual mindfulness programmes in areas such as, relaxation and meditation, pain management support, confidence and self esteem, bereavement support, amongst many others. Mindfulness is such a powerful tool that when combined with our already established therapeutic support groups and therapeutic art groups, produces maximum positive impact for the service user, leading to an abundance of growth in positive health and wellbeing.

## **The opportunities and services we ofer**

We continue to run with 2 venues, based across the South West side of the city for our beneficiaries and groups to utilise and access our wide range of stimulating, educational and recreational projects.

**The Windmill Community Hub:** Has recently undergone new re-wiring and fire alarm to meet current regulations and has received full decorating. Similar to previous year, COVID-19 has affected the running of many groups but with the easing of restrictions, many of the groups are back in the centre and operating to their max, within Government guidelines.

**The Claregate Centre:** Has also recently undergone a renovation, including a full re-wire and fire alarm system to meet current regulations and has received full decorating. As above, COVID 19 has affected the running of our groups and users but has improved with the ease of restrictions and we are now back to running at full capacity.

Our service will continue evolving, expanding and developing to meet community needs.
