our Lecture Series. The first 30minute
Zoom talk was given by one ofour esteemed||| ||teachers,
on the subject of Ovid in renaissance
painting.
The sedies takes|place every quarter
and will
continue|| ||into 2021.||| ||Due to ongoing
restrictions,
our second Summer School also took place online.
This meant that we were
able
to offer sessions
to children
nationwide.
200 pupils across key stage two and three signed
up for a two-week||| ||course, comprising
of10live Youtube sessions led by specialist facilitators as well as 40 smaller Zoom
classes,
covering
10 different
topics.
Subjects
included
puppet
making,
poetry,
storyte6ing,
opera,
dance
and
film-making
as well as Latin language,
ag based on the theme
of Greek and Roman
Gods and
Goddesses.
Thanks,
once again, to a generous
grant from the Classical Association,
students
were able to attend free
of||| ||charge.
Sadly, due to restrictions
we were not able to facilitate
our usual
in person trips to the University
of Cambridge
this year.
However we were delighted
to begin a partnership
with UCL, who organised
a wonderful
inscription||| ||workshop
as part of our online Summer School.||| ||In the Summer
of 2020 we launched
our first adult
poetry
competition,
Deanna
Rodger and Ella Hickson.
The competition
called on entrants to|judged
by writers
Black
Morrison,
use the phrase 'de rerum
natura'
(the|| ||nature ofthings) as a starting
point.
As part ofa renewed
focus on fundraising,
we handmade
and sold bespoke face masks, embroidered
with
Latin||| ||verbs.||| ||Zippy Woolfson became treasurer.||| |Future plans|||| |Now in its eleventh
year, The Latin Programme
is committed
to:|||| ||continuing
to deliver high-quality,
engaging
Latin lessons that measurably
improve literacy.
finding
innovative
ways
to embed
the arts
into our programme,
providing
our pupils
with the opportunity
to||| ||develop their soft skills such as creativity,
confidence and resilience.
developing
free and subsidised
extra-cunicular
sessions for existing and|prospective
schools such as cookery|| ||lessons, art classes and music making.||| |Following|the success of both the 2019 and 2020 Scriptores
Competition,
we will|once again be encouraging
pupils
from|| |current and prospective
schools across London to build their confidence
in creative||writing
by inviting
them to take part in|a| |2021 writing
competition.|||| |As part ofour fundraising
drive, we will continue
our hugely successful
