Minister's Report By the time we receive and reflect on these reports, for good or ill, very often the items in them seem like distant memories. The church year 2024-2025 in Central was an interesting time, to say the least. We continued in our Sunday seNices, personal devotions and small groups to explore the core aspects of real, living New Testament church featured in Holy Habits. We embarked on the second half of these ten essential characteristics and practices found in Acts Chapter 2 vs 42-47 and which describe the infant church and the way it went about living out its ministry. As with the previous year, Biblical themes from Holy Habits have been interwoven in many of our activities reminding and challenging us to have a refreshed vision of being a church that is a missional community. Better still, we've seen it happening around and among usl It has been refreshing to welcome new faces in many aspects of our church's life, whilst at the same time bidding farewell to some of our long-standing friends and members as they return home to glory and their Saviour, Jesus. While much of week by week and seasonal Church life may look similar to the previous year, the other reports to this year's General Church Meeting witness to a new vibrancy and sense of purpose. At the heart of our mission and ministry is pattern and call of The Lord Jesus Chriust, the one we Servi￿ together. During this past church year (2024-2025), we have continued to befriend people through Warm Spaces- particularly incorporating that with the Community Larder, Tuesday coffee mornings, Family Fun, Chattabox, Wednesday Fellowship, 1st Sunday Community Breakfasts, bring and share Sunday lunches, and the weekly coffee mornings. It's been a joy to witness that some folk contacted through those activities have witnessed how they sense they belong within Central. Our small groups and fellowships have been a crucible for growing in understanding of what we believe, encouraging one another to become wholehearted disciples of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who are able to build His Church and whose lives will increasingly reflect His in the ways we behavel But what has that all meant in the course of a year? The Church Stewards team have had a growing sense of being a Leadership Team- a community of people called to help the whole Church go forward and grow in upwards towards The Lord in Worship, inwards toward one another in fellowship and caring, forwards in learning and discipleship, outwards in ministry, evangelism and mission and more in numbers. But this raises questions about how this can be accomplished. Our Holy Habits themes help guide our thinking, through Harvest and early Autumn we explored Gladness & Generosity- about stewardship of our time, talents, treasures and the plant., in November we began considering Fellowship- our relationships with one another and through Advent and Christmas 2024 we came face to face with the God who seeks to know us. In January we shared in the Circuit Covenant Service at Christ the Comerstone Church, Tregadillett and for The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity we joined others from a number of churches at St. Stephens. Both occasions reminded us that we are called to put the faith we profess into practice. This echoed

our Holy Habits segment on SeNice. Do you see the pattern emerging ? Step by step, sometimes intentionally, other times apparently by chance, Central is seeking to live out the features of being a genuinely missional community. Many acts of service with a missional edge occur, not least the activities mentioned earlier, but in other ways, too. The "experiment" we undertook using The Little Red Bus from Launceston Community Transport had helped a number of people become part of our church family which increasingly shows a diverse gathering and age spread in our congregation. Our hopes to employ a Children's and Families, Worker to spearhead our outreach to those finding the soft edged entry points of church, have been frustrating, to say the least (though that's something for next year's report1} and even as I write we are still seeking to make this a reality. Last year I commented we would be doing this in, "a challenging environment for Charity employment." This has proved all too true. Through Lent, we recapped Holy Habits themes when our small groups undertook a Lenten Joumey to The Cross, and our Sunday services helped us all to journey with Jesus as He revealed His glory to His disciples and, "when the days drew near for him to be taken up, Jesus set out resolutely to go to Jerusalem., (Luke 9.'51) to His ultimate act of self-sacrificial death as the suffering servant and Saviour. Easter provided a grand opportunity to celebrate Jesus, resurrection and from then until Pentecost, when we celebrate the birth of the Church, we turned our attention towards Making Disciples - and there was even mention of "The E-word" evangelism, which is simply the sharing of the Good News of the Gospel that, 'If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved., (Romans 10'.9). Of course, we do that in and with both words and actions - and that's what all our church activities must be focussed around. Looking over the year 2024-25, reminds me that Central has been seeking to be the best church it can for the sake of the community and to the glory of God. Here then, is a good moment to thank the many people who make Central's life not only occur, but flourish and grow. You'll find that reflected - often in a very understated way in the other contributions to these reports. This in turn reminds me of words of St Paul to the first church in Europe, I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, l always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will Carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus., (Philippians 1..3-6) Like St Paul we will continually need to give thanks for the activities in which we are engaged, and seek for them to be orientated towards helping one another and all whom we encounter in ways that mean Central fulfils more of its missionary potential and encourages more people to encounter the befriending love of God through His people, come to belong among the family and fellowship of the Church, to believe on The Lord Jesus Christ, becoming His wholehearted followers as The Holy Spirit shapes their lives after His likeness in order that we build God's church and embody His Kingdom here in Launceston. Stewards, Report The stewards are grateful for the help, prayers and encouragement they re￿1ve from the church family. Holy Habits during the year were studied in several house groups and in services and was based on Acts 2.4247. We welcomed the return of Rev Steve Emery-wright for the Harvest Service in October. Christmas opening for late night shopping was popular and the usual Christmas Services were held. The Nativity SeNice was well attended and 20 children came. On Mothering Sunday daffodils were given and appreciated by the ladies. Easter se￿I￿S and events included the walk of witness, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. On Maundy Thursday David and Liz prepared food which gave us a great insight into the foods used during the Last Supper. In April Marion was thanked for all the hard work and dedication she had given during her time as senior steward. We are grateful Marion has continued to serve as welcome steward and we also extend our thanks to all the welcome stewards for their ongoing support and servi￿. In May Lois and Kathryn joined the team. Coffee momings continued and grateful thanks are expressed to all those who help and support these mornings. The stewards, prayer meeting, previously held on the first Tuesday of the month, joined with the Tuesday prayer time Cathie and Pauline began several years ago when they opened the chapel for prayer in the summer. We are grateful to Cathie and Pauline for faithfully opening the church for prayer over the years. other events including SouthwestAwake prayer in the Castle Grounds, a ceilidh dance in July and 245 alive barbecue at the end of August were also held. The Churches Together tent at Launceston show, held at the end of July, was a successful event and proved to be popular with the young people. The theme "have you run out ofjul￿- try praying, was used. Thanks expressed to Irene for organising this. Children's Work Sundays The number of children attending Sunday morning Church services has remained steady, although numbers of children can vary from week to week. We continue to run a Sunday School group which takes Pla￿ up in the Epworth Room each week except for the first week in the month when the children stay in for the Family Service. We still encourage the children to participate in songs, with ribbons and flags., and joining in with the worship group where it is appropriate or doing a Bible reading. The Little Red Bus has been collecting families from the estates. We are in the process of recruiting a Children and Families Worker which would really help with the children's work.

Family Fun Events These events continue to take pla￿ approximately every 4 weeks on a Saturday morning and are usually well attended, averaging about 20 - 25 children plus other family members. The team plan activities around a theme including crafts, food activities, challenges, quizzes, a short video or story and modern songs with shakers and ribbons available. We also provide sports equipment, sometimes parachute games, construction kits and toddler toys. There are always snacks, cakes and drinks available. We are seeing some families returning each month and welcoming some new ones. We are encouraged to see the connection with some families who use the Love Your Neighbour Community Larder and to welcome some people as volunteers on Family Fun Days. We are also thankful for church members who continue to help or visit to support what we are doing. Chattabox Chattabox toddler group continues to take place each week in term time with be￿een about 12 and 20 babies I toddlers attending each week with their parenus or carers, slightly smaller numbers over the last few months, with some families taking advantage of the free nursery places available to them, elsewhere. Activities are planned each week around a theme and include craft, messylsensory play, small world play, ride on toys and large blocks- and a song time. The children are provided with a healthy snack and parents enjoy tealcoffee and biscuits. We would welcome other people who would like to get involved in any way. Val Carpenter Sound S stem O erators for Worshi IChur¢h Activities 2025 The Duty Sound System Operators role at Central is to liaise with the worship co- ordinator, musicians andlor preacher for any given Sunday morning (and some evening) services to discuss the details and requirements for their service. Currently the team is as follows.. Eric Rowland Jennie Kerwin David Banks The sound desk does present a challenge for us in the church and we really are always on the lookout for new helpers of all ages for the team, so if you feel you could help you would be most welcome. This responsible job is really important but not too onerous and is a real contribution to the life of the churches worship. If you have any questions please speak to Eric Rowland or a member of the team. David Rogerson

Live Stream O erators for Worshi Services 2025 The live streaming of services at Central on YouTube is used as a form of mission and outreach. The demands of the work and the limited human resources means that it is not available every week. Details are available on the websites and the circuit YouTube Channel. A simple range of broadcasting and audio equipment has been obtained and donated to the church to enable this to happen. Currently the team is as follows.. David Rogerson (Live Streaming when available). Mike Carpenter (Recording and post event video uploads). If you have any questions please speak to David Rogerson or Mike Carpenter. David Rogerson Musical Su ort- includin 245 Alive & PAL Services 2025 Musical support for the various styles of services is provided by a team of organists, the Church Worship Group and a singing group that uses song tracks. Our thanks for the time and commitment go to our organists Richard Cottrell and Jenny Worth. The '245 Alive, evening services and also the morning services benefit from music support from the live worship band. Considerable thanks is due to the group, Alison Bunkum, Jennie Kernow, Robin Parnell, Ray Prout and Glenn Dou￿. The band rehearses every Saturday and are a very important part of the church's worship. Our thanks is also due to Mike Carpenter who uses high quality tracks to support the singing group when required. Opportunities to explore new songs are always taken by all the musicians. When possible, this is in consultation with the preacher. Decisions are then made on the music to fit the setvice theme and readings. David Rogetson Pro ectionists for Sunda Mornin Worshi 2025 The Duty Projectionist role at Central is to liaise with the worship co-ordinator andlor preacher for any given Sunday morning (and some evening) services to discuss the details and requirements for their service. This detail is used to create a 'schedule file, which may include video links and PowerPoint files included in the computer's Easy-worship program. The isingworship program is also sometimes used to play song tracks with audio via the sound system. The projection team are very willing and I must take this opportunity to thank them all for their patient and committed support to the team and the church.

The team for the reporting period was as follows.. Jenny Cook Joan Helme Liz Miller David Rogerson (Janet Rogerson) The team is aging and there is a real need for new helpers to join the team. If you feel you could help you would be most welcome. This important job may seem a little daunting at first, but anyone with a basic knowledge of computers and with some simple training is able to undertake the tssk. The projectionist role is not too onerous and is a real contribution to the life of the churches worship. If you have any questions please speak to David Rogerson (01579) 370412 107445 4498557 or david@lamc.org.uk David Rogerson Central's Presence on the Internet 2025 The Central and Circuit web sites - www.central-methodist.org.uk www.lamc.org.uk The Central and Circuit web sites continue to provide a modern, informative presence on the Internet, enabling people in the local community and indeed across the world to be aware of our work and fellowship. The sites are hosted and run at a very low cost and have proved to be very useful in keeping people informed about what is on at the church, our work and worship. A daily diary of Central's events, the weekly bulletin, a quarterly list of the preachers, organists. readers, coffee rota, flower rota and Coordinators at Central are always available. The site includes full infomation on what is on at Central with news of forthcoming events. You can also catch up on recordings of live streams on the circuit YouTube channel A reduced copy of the circuit plan showing preachers and services can also be accessed on both sites with all documents being in an easily printable PDF format. There are also a number of links to other sites including the Methodist Church and Cornwall district web sites. Central has an excellent Facebook page which is run by Gillian Goodman. Running a Facebook page can be time consuming so we must thank Gillian for her work and her diligence with the page.

The greatest challenge is to keep the sites vibrant and up to date with the news of what is happening. Indeed, it is hoped that they Iruly reflect everything about what happens at Central and the circuit. If you have any information, articles or photographs for inclusion on the web sites please don't hesitate to contact David Rogerson on 07445 449857 or by email at david@lamc.org.uk David Rogerson Worshi Cowordinators for Sunda Mornin Worshi 2024-25 The role of the Worship Co-ordinator is to liaise with the preacher for the Sunday morning service to discuss worship, music, facilities and other requirements for their service. This specific role is to help visiting preachers with the differing styles of Central's worship. There is currently just one Worship Co-ordinator to cover services - David Rogerson. This has meant that other help has to be provided by Mike Carpenter and Rev David Miller. The co-ordinators for the quarter are listed in the worship contacts collated by David Rogerson and available on line on the church website at www.central- methodist.org.uklworship.pdf It should be noted that the online copy is always the most up to date version and every effort is made to ensure that changes to the listing are promptly made. It is inevitable that changes will happen during any given quarter. The list is also promulgated on the notice board in the vestry. If you would like a personal copy please speak to a steward or David Rogerson. The team is in real need of more helpers, so if you feel you could help you would be most welcome. If you have any questions please speak to David Rogerson (01579) 370412 107445 449857 or david@lamc.org.uk. David Rogerson

"Love Your Neighbour" Community Larder The larder continues to take place 3 times per week with a good number of willing volunteers. The number of customers continues to increase and we have a wide variety of sources of surplus food. We also continue to receive free produce from Cornwall Gleaning Network. We have purchased new fridges to help us with the volume of food that we are being offered by local supermarkets. We invite people to stay for tealcoffee and biscuits,. and a chance to chat and make friendships with others which has proved very popular. Customers sometimes feel confident to share problems in their lives and we try to support them and lor signpost them to relevant agencies that mighl be able to help. We have regular visits from other agencies such as Community Energy Plus to support people with fuel issues; a representative from South West Water to discuss any issues with water costs,. NHS Social Prescribers to help with health and welfare issues., and the local Community Police Officer as a friendly face. We try to support individuals who are homeless or sofa surfing by sharing contact details such as St Petroc's and Streetlink., and by offering items such as tents, sleeping bags, flasks and warm clothes where appropriate. Mike and Val Carpenter Ladies Friendship Group The Ladies Friendship group have continued to meet on the first Thursday of every month, providing an informal time of fellowship, strengthening friendships and a relaxed space to welcome new ladies. We meet at a different venue each month, often just for coffee and chat. In the summer months we have enjoyed a walk at Willow Tree and Roadford. A beetle drive provided fun and laughter, whereas all was quiet with concentration on a craft activity. The Christmas lunch is always popular. Any ladies are always welcome to attend any or all of the meetings. A programme is available and transport can be arranged if required. Julia Boundy Central Kitchen Central kitchen continues to be used by a variety of groups and each group is encouraged to make an entry in the kitchen file and to note any concerns or issues with the kitchen. There has been virtually no actual cooking in the kitchen since the Link into Learning hospitality group no longer use our premises. We have also not been able to make the lunches for children on the Time to Move sessions in the school holidays at the leisure centre as these are no longer taking place. We had an inspection by the Environmental Health Officer in December 2024 and were delighted to receive a 5. They have subsequently looked at the work of the Community Larder in the Dingley Hall as we are handling food and have made a few recommendations, particularly over the condition of the lower room where we have most of the freezers. The floor covering needs to be washable rather than carpet so the carpet has been removed.

The ceiling and walls are flaky and need attention which is ongoing work. The EHO is due to revisit by December 2026. Val Carpenter Link to Hope Thankyou to everyone who supports us with Link to Hope. We sent 150 boxes at Christmas 2024 from the pick up point at Elmslea - they were delivered from Coads Green, Lifton. Tavistock, St.Stephens School and Central. The children at Family Fun were very enthusiastic putting boxes together and deciding on whether their box would be for a family or an elderly couple. They found it difficult to understand that people needed such basic items as candles, soap and cutlery. In addition to the boxes we have sent £800 pounds to the Link to Hope '1 Am, project. This project enables people to access birth certificates and registration documents previously held by communist governments. Without them people are not accounted for anywhere and therefore cannot access school, legal employment, medical and dental care, or pensions. With the addition of the Ukraine war the most vulnerable undocumented people are unable to escape or even if they move across the country they are unable to aC￿sS support without l.D. Some of the money we sent was donated and the rest was raised at the Tuesday Pastoral Report Our church continues to be a vibrant, welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds. We all have a pastoral role to play in being friendly, caring and listening to the concerns of everyone who attends our church. There are groups and activities happening each day of the week which, in addition to Sunday services, offer opportunities to befriend and show care for all. In addition to Monday & Tues Bible study, Tuesday coffee mornings, Wednesday fellowship, Wednesday Chattabox, Thursday Ladies group (monthly), there are on-line prayer & bible study groups, Community Larder and warm space (Weds, Fri & Sat) and the monthly Family Fun enjoyed by all ages. There is a leaflet available listing these activities to give to anyone needing info. Thanks goes to those who continue to keep in touch with our older members who are no longer able to attend church and the 'bags of love, are taken at Christmas to show that they remain an important part of the church family. Thanks to the pastoral contacts who 'oversee' the pastoral groups to ensure that no- one gets overlooked or forgotten. We also joined with the MWIB autumn and spring meetings. The programme finished with the annual afternoon tea at the home of Richard and Jenny Worth, to which all members and speakers were invited and were On￿ again blessed with good weather. We went to Trethorne for Christmas lunch, joined by Rev David and Liz along with drivers and supporters. We were saddened that Sylvia Dawe and Lorna Bullock both passed away during the year- Lorna had been a member for decades. In the spring all members and drivers had afternoon tea at Tre Pol and Pen in memory of Sylvia. Our two visits in the summer were blessed with good weather- both very interesting. In July we visited St Juliot's Church with its link to Thomas Hardy - or a drive to Bude for those of limited mobility, followed by tea at Boscastle. In August we followed the path of the LauncestonlBude Canal as far as Boyton Wharfwhere Andrew and Coral Dinner welcomed us to their field where a section of the wharf and canal are still visible-Andrew giving us an interesting history of the canal. This was followed by tea at Boyton chapel- kindly provided by the ladies of Boyton chapel. These Wednesday afternoons are a wonderful time of fellowship for all members. Jenny Worth and Marion Allen Tuesday Coffee Mornings We continue to meet in the school hall every week for coffee and company. Some outside agencies host these mornings - Cats Protection, Choral Society, Amnesty International, and various other groups. Members of Central Church congregation host on the remianing mornings, raising money for Christian Aid, Disasters and Emergency Committee, Action for Children and Link to Hope. We continue to be a meeting place for people to catch up with friends. Irene Stanbury

Property Report This was a significant year in the upgrades of the facilities of the church. After a number of years investigating the various options things began to come together thanks also to the generous donation of our Gift Days. Although the new boiler was installed over the summer it was finally commissioned in September 2024. Due to the sensitive nature of the electronics we also had to install a new pump, On October g we took delivery of the new chairs and this has been a success it has made the church more adaptable and has generally been well received. In July 2024 we paid for the new lights in the hope that they would be installed by Christmas unfortunately due to delays in manufacturing they were not ready to start the installation until November at this point we had too many events booked in the run up to Christmas to allow them to start. A date was fixed for January 20 when the church would be closed for 2 weeks to enable the work to be done 5 electricians worked the first week and 4 worked the second week. They worked very hard and did a top class job. Once again the comments have been positive and hopefully helps to enhan￿ the worship experien￿. There are always items of maintenance which require attention too numerous to mention. Thanks must go to all those who help in any way. Eric Rowland 26105126
