Annual report 1[st] September 2020 to 31[st] August 2021

We started the new year by welcoming our new minister Revd. David Miller and his wife Liz. Although delighted to be able to do this it was very strange as we could not meet in person due to the Covid restrictions.

The Circuit held services on Sunday mornings, Bible studies and prayer groups during the week which the members of Central were able to join on Zoom. Details of these were emailed to members and could also be found on the website which was kept up to date by David Rogerson. Service sheets for each of the Sunday morning services were distributed by class leaders to each of their members who could not join access the internet. Gillian Goodman posted encouraging messages daily on the Facebook page which she manages for us.

Sunday morning services at Central were able to resume in October 2020 following all the Government Covid guidelines but had to cease from the beginning of January till April when the ‘in person’ services were able to start again. Our thanks go to the team of stewards who dealt with all the problems which arose.

None of our usual midweek meetings took place with the exception of Wednesday Fellowship which had a few meetings in the Summer of 2021 and two outings to Bude and Dartmoor.

A family fun day in August 2021 was organised by Val Carpenter and Esther Pinder at Coronation Park. This was a great success and further fun days were planned to be held in the Church Hall.

During this year the Dingley Hall was used by the Churches Together in Launceston Love Your Neighbour scheme in conjunction with Fareshare to buy and distribute food to families in need. This was organised by Mike and Val Carpenter who were aided by other willing helpers.

The overnight shelter was well used during this year and our thanks goes to Mike Carpenter for all his diligence.

Property matters were dealt with as they arose and our thanks go to David Allen and Eric Rowland for their hard work.

Church members continued to be very generous in their giving but, not unsurprisingly, our outgoings exceeded our income by £13,200.

In conclusion, a very strange year but held together admirably by the leadership of our minister Revd. David Miller in the power of God.
