The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

Objectives and activities

Objectives and aims

The objectives of the charity are:

To seek the advancement of the Christian Religion in accordance with the teachings of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in compliance with the Holy Bible, educating people in the Word of God, and to teach the knowledge of Jesus Christ around Thurrock Borough and its environs.
To help in the relief of poverty all over the world, starting with our immediate members, their families, members of the local, national, and international communities as occasions demand, financially and in kind.

Significant activities

The main activities of the church are as follows:

Timeless Woman Ministry

Ladies Prayer Retreat which is interdenominational gathering where all women from various works of life gather in a suitable environment to God in prayers for their lives, families, churches, communities, and the nation at large. It is targeted towards total woman well-being which involves spiritual and mental awareness.

Bible Study

We hold our church regular meetings such as bible study and prayer meetings within the church premises as well as via zoom.

Evangelism

Evangelism was carried out in different styles as occasions demanded during the year, reaching out to those within the community with the love of Christ. Some have responded to these kind gestures in an affirmative way.

Counselling

This was made available free of charge mainly by the Pastor in Charger. Appointments to see the Pastor were made either directly with him or through the church office. The meetings usually took place in the Church during the week or on Sundays.

We have various activities for the youths, men and women during the year which included seminars and workshops as well as counselling. The aim is geared towards empowerment as well as socialising which help their mental well-being.

Public benefit

The trustees confirm that they have complied with the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit.

The charity has many volunteers that assist the church in achieving its objectives.

Financial review

Financial position

In the year to 31 March 2024, the charity reported total income of £191,666; (2023: £202,362) and net deficit of (£8,598); (2023: £22,329), accumulated funds were £423,947; (2023: £432,545).

Reserves policy

The charity continues to work towards achieving a level of unrestricted funds reserves equal to three months of expenditure.

Structure, governance and management

Governing document

The charity is controlled by its governing document, a declaration of trust dated 16 May 2007, and constitutes an unincorporated charity. RCCG Fruitfulland is a registered charity in England and Wales.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

Trustees are selected based on the contribution that they will make to the governance of the organisation and the skills that they will contribute. They are provided with copies of the Charity Commission's Guidance to Trustees and are also provided with training as and when required.

Organisational structure

Decisions are determined by a simple majority vote by the Trustees who set the strategic direction of the Charity. Delegated authority is given to the Pastoral Board and Management Team for the day to day running of the operations of the Charity.

Wider network

Fruitfulland is a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God - a network comprised of churches all over the world. There is an agreement for Common Purposes entered into by Fruitfulland with the Redeemed Christian Church of God which documents this relationship.

Related parties

Under the Common Purposes Agreement, RCCG Fruitfulland has agreed to make an annual contribution to RCCG (UK).

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD - FRUITFUL LAND (the Trust) for the year ended 31 March 2024.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act; or
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Income

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

Expenditure

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

Charitable activities

Charitable activities are those costs relating to activities carried out to meet the objectives of the charity and include directly attributed costs as well as support costs.

Tangible fixed assets

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.

Freehold property - 1% on cost Plant and machinery - 20% on cost Fixtures and fittings - 20% on cost Motor vehicles - 20% on cost

Taxation

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
