This year saw the emergence of a global pandemic (Covid 19) which has impacted on the charities’ ability to transport and rehome dogs, along with government legislation which required the temporary closing of our retail premises, which is our primary financial resource. 

As such the number of dogs rehomed for the year dropped from the previous year to 115. Due to a revenue reduction caused by external factors, it was decided by the board that capital expenditure would only be used for critical operating purposes to protect the solvency of the charity, staffing levels at the retail premises were maintained with the assistance of the government backed Coronavirus job retention scheme during the enforced closure period, which allowed the charity to recover fundraising at the earliest opportunity. A huge thank you to all of those involved in the charity shop operation for their tremendous hard work through difficult circumstances to raise much needed funds for the dogs saved throughout the year. Our operating expenses remained broadly static despite the reduction in the number of dogs rehomed throughout the year, therefore our reserves are reduced slightly, however the board maintain a keen eye on areas for cost efficiencies and are confident in our ability to continue saving many more dogs in the future. 

We have made changes to the shop and rescue centre to provide a safe environment for the dogs, staff, volunteers and visiting public. The use of Personal protective equipment (PPE) has been increased along with social distancing measures and a limit on visitors at any one time, areas that come into physical contact with people are regularly and routinely sanitised in addition to normal standards and visitors looking to rehome dogs are now visiting on a pre agreed appointment basis in lieu of the open day visiting format. 

The continued dedication of the staff and volunteers of East Midlands Dog Rescue has enabled the charity to operate through a very challenging period in our history and brought vital medical treatment and new homes to a huge number of dogs again this year.

I report in respert of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I

under section 14515){b} of the Act.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have
come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me
cause to believe that in. any material respert..
accounting records were not kept in a¢¢ordance with section 130 of
the Act or
the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
