Jame Trust supported the construction and refurbishment of the Jame
Masjid (Mosque) Leicester for the benefit of the public. in particular the
Muslim community. Due to the ever increasing Muslim community in
Leicester and the deteriorating state of the old masjid a major
construction and refurbishment was carried out.
The project was completed in 2010. As a result the capacity of the prayer
facility was increased from 1,000 to 2,000 people along with new
classrooms for the students.
The Jame Masjid provides a range of services to the community including
the 5 daily prayers and a number of weekly programmes for the
community.
Jame Masjid provides a range of courses for both boys and girls. The
students range from ages 5 to 25 years. Commencing from the very
basics of the Arabic language, the children can continue their education
at the Jame until a mature age until qualifying as scholars. Most of the
courses are conveniently timed to allow students to simultaneously
benefit from their main schooling.
For the benefit of the local community the Jame Masjid also provides
advice on all domestic, social and welfare issues based on Shariah
principles
Recognised by the Leicester City Council, Jame Masjid provides the
community with full death and burial services including transport.
