The trustees, who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with
the financial slatements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)
{effective 1 January 2019).
Objects
The charity's objects as stated in the goveming document are-
(i) to alleviate the conditions of life of carers in necessitous circumstances who care for the sick, disabled, mentally ill,
frail, elderly or otherwise infimi, by any means that is charitable, within the Bridgend County Borough area.
(li} to undertake any ne￿$sary education work related to carers.
Objectives and aims
The support provided aims to alleviate stress and isolation for all carers by providing short breaks, informalion. advice
and assistsnce. This includes signposting to services, help to maximise benefits, legal advice and the promotion of
carers. assessments.
Social Services and Well-being {Wales) Acl 2014 has strengthened this requirement and objectives of the charity's role
as a preventalive service to improve wellbeing, avoidance of carer stress, burden, isolalion and crisis.
Bridgend Carers Centre raise awareness through diverse mediums including newsletters. leaflets, publicity, the Bridgend
Carers Centre website, social media and information networks and also through physical promotion.
As a charity Bridgend Careis Centre has developed a three-year Strategic Plan until 2025 giving dear reference to the
aims and objectives of the charity plus an Action Plan of the key priorities. The Board of Trustees review the Pfogress
made against the strategic plan annually, in addition to monitoring actions every six weeks. The charity has also
produced a Sustainability Plan and Mad(eting Plan to ensure that future services are secure and promoted widely to
reach unidentified caiers across the Borough.
The Carers Centre works to research future funding opportunities, which will help to develop a way of improving the
monFloring of outcomes for carers. We know we make a difference to carers, lives but are also aware that this needs lo
be better evidenced in a way that meets the high demands of funders. To achieve Ihis, we work with Dizions - Charity
Log and Carers Trust to support improved evidence of impact measurement and social retum on investment. This
platform will support effective decision-making and ensure we are working to improve outcomes for beneficiaries.
We have continued to develop outreach seNices in a number of geographical areas. maintained and increased our
digital presence and means of communication through social media, making support and infomiation more accessible.
We have increased activities induding walks. exercise classes. holistic therapies, Carers Choir, spa days, craft activities.
counselling. carers trips. carers luncheons, life coaching and individual grants for carers to access a break specific to
their needs. These opportunities were funded through Welsh Government via Carets Trust (Amser Scheme) and
Regional Integrated Fund (Shortbreaks Scheme) focusing on all carers but with a specific larget on reaching male
carers, parent carers. young carers, working carers and young adult carers through face to face and online group
sessions to improve accessibility
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Infomiation
Our information and advice service has continued to develop and improve throughout 202312024 by directly supporting
carers through face lo face, telephone, email. website. post and social media, online peer support through Zoom and
WhatsApp.
Volunteers
The inclusion of volunteer roles within the Centre is crucial especially for roles wilhin our Board of Trustees, at the weekly
Community Café. The charily has found it difficult to retain and recruit volunteers during the period of post pandemic
recovery bul realise that this is an area which requires fvrther development to increase the involvement of volunleers in
future developments. The charity would like to give thanks to all the volunteers for their support and commitment.

When reviewing these objectives, the trustees have considered the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on
public benefit and the activities described below illustrate how the charity has furthered its purposes for the public benefit.

Significant activities
During this period. the core work of the charity has been achieved through listening to staff and to gaining feedback from
carers to meet their needs. Staff and volunteers have offered intensive person-centred support to keep families engaged
and safeguarded. The service has conlinued to provide information, face-to-face conlad to those carers and families
experiencing crisis, emotional one to one support, online training and short innovative respite breaks have enabled
carers in Bridgend County Borough to sample a diverse range of support that suits their own individual needs. The short
respite breaks fvnded through Carers Trust have enabled carers and their families including bereaved carers to
experience opportunities to avoid loneliness and isolation, maintain health and wellbeing and live a life of their own,
whilst continuing to fulfil their caring responsibilities if they wish.
Bridgend Carers Centre has close links with statutory and third sector organisations to give valuable, effecttve and timely
support and informalion to enable carers to conlinue in Iheir caring role and avoid and prevent crisis situations.
Highlights have included..
Achieving RIF (Regional Integrated Fund) to sustain a Carers, Support SeNice based at prin￿$$ of Wales
Hospital, which aids hospital discharge.
Achieving fvnding to sustain a Welfare Benefits Setvice (through RIF, Wales and West and Awards For All
Funding streams) which gave an annual maximised income of £764,609 in a variety of benefit claims including
Attendance Allowan￿, PIP, DLA applications for unpaid carers and 'ca￿d forf. sin￿ the start of the Project in
2012 until 31 March 2024 it has achieved a cumulatrve total of £4,287,991. These roles also support unpaid
carers facing fuel poverty and give advice and infomation on the Priority Setvices Register. C02 monitors, gas
safety taps and distributed 100's of Wami Packs to vulnerable families.
Sustaining and maintaining the Macmillan Patient and Carer Infomiation and Support Worker funded through
Macmillan Cancer Care to support patients and families Ihiough life changes. palliative care and bereavement.
Suslaining a Carers Link Service working within the community and GP Surgeries across Bridgend County
Borough to identify carers. support carers, signp05t carer5 and refer onto appropriate se1vi￿s.
Continuing and developing the Young Carers and Young Adult Carers Support through diverse funding including
Making Carers Count Funding from Carers Trust, Children in Need, Watsrloo. St James Place, BCBC (Peer
Mentoring soheme), Archbishop of Wales and Principality.
Continuation of Young Carers involvement on the Carers Trust Youth Council. involved in shaping national
services and ￿$oUr￿$ for young carers ensuring they have a voice.
Continuation of an Armed Forces and Veteran Support Project, through fijnding from Armed Forces Covenant
identifying 115 beneficiaries for support and activilies.
Continued a Dementia Carers Support Project working with families to give information. advice, one to one and
group support sessions and short break opportunities.
Continuation of Post Code Lottery Funding and Moondance to develop and give additional capacity to the
Parent Carer Wellbeing Service thus increasing reach and identification of new Parent Carers.
Provided 144 carers with individual grants to address financial hardship and give opportunities for short breaks
through funding received from Carers Trust totalling £34,967.
Provided 37 carers with individual grants lo give carers a well-earned break from Carers Trust Amser Project
totalling £4.784 and a further 21 carers from the Regional Integrated Fund Shortbreaks Project totalling £3.550
Continuation of funding has allowed additional adminislrative assistance to support all staff and improve our social
media presence due to growing demand which has proved invaluable to the seN1￿.
Successful official visit from HRH Princess Royal recognising the wonderful service and support offered by
Bridgend Carers Centre over the last twenty-five years. Princess Royal enjoyed meeting staff and carers as well
as being entertained by Bridgend Carers Centre Choir.
In March 24. Bridgend Careis Centre relocated our offices to Bethlehem Church Life Centre in Cefn Cribwr after
14 years at Quakers Meeting House in Bridgend. We were extremely proud lo have had 8 great relationship with
the Quakers over this lime and are fortunate lo have already established a strong relationship with BCLC thus far.
Nominated as Valleys 2 Coast Charity of the Year.
Bridgend Carers Centre service has had a series of high-profile appearances on a variety of TV and Radio
programmes including inteNiews with BBC'S Weatherman Walking Derek Brockway, Jagger and Woody on
Heart Radio, Kate Garraway on Smooth Radio as well as featuring on BBC News and ITV News. These
interviews have raised awareness and highlighted the role of carers and provided opportunities for staff and
carers to be directly featured and their voices heard.
Our Young Carers Service presented at The Senedd along with Lukè Fletcher, Plaid Cymru MS, to raise
awareness of young carers through our publication 'The Bear who Struggled to Care,.
We continue lo employ many of our workforce and management team who are exisling carers or former ¢arers
themselves which enriches our Servi￿ delivery through personal lived in experien￿.

Carers have received opportunities for short breaks through a range of choices which have been developed tn
response to direct feedback from carers themselves and in Ilne with the objectives of Bridgend Carers Centre
Strategic Plan. We arranged:
Celebration of Carers Week at a Carers Centre Garden Party including musical enlertainment in partnership with
Awen Cultural Trust. This is an annual event which recognises the contribution carers make to society.
Carers Counselling continues al face lo face sessions but is also available over the telephone or zoom if required.
Celebration of the annual Macmillan Fundraiser Coffee Morning.
Provided additional crafting and Iherapeulic activities to support the Community Café through Ray Of Light.
Funded by a Macmillan Support Grant. This has given an added interest to the Café with increased numbers
attending the Café.
Provision of a selection of activities and short breaks for young carers and young adults including groups, Teen
Group, Peer Menloring and numerous short break adivities including Jump Jam, Alton Towers. Escape Rooms,
Suthng, Crazy Climb, Wiggley's Fam. craft sessions, easter egg hunts, panlomime, thealre. and animal
encounters, Go Karting, ￿lte Water Rafting, Mini Golf, Afternoon Tea's, Meals out, cinema, Cardiff Devils Ice
Hockey as well as other activities at the centre.
Organised 3 residentials laking Youn9 Adulls Carers and Young Carers to Pendine Outdoor Activity Park, Little
Bryn Gwyn on Gower Peninsula and Young Carers Festival during the sumrner holidays. This is an event run by
Welsh Government each year for all Young Carers in Wales.
Provision of activities and refreshments Ihrough the Food Sufficiency Grant and Isolation Grant from Welsh
Govemmenl for carers accessing the weekly Community Café.
Continued to arrange a blended variety of online and face to face activities to gtve respite through Carers Trust
and Regional Integrated Fund.
Organised sessions funded through Versus Arthritis to support carers physical wellbeing through Dan￿, Zumba.
Walks, Yoga, Tai Chi and Gentle Movements.
Organised trips lo Luminale al Margam Park through Carers Trust Wales
Organised an Autistic Gids Group including a dedicated Therapy Day and creative art activities.
Continued Life Coaching Sessions to carers.
Various Iraining opportunities, in person and online, to empower carers to fulfil their potential and support them in
their caring role including: Autism Training. Sign Language Sessions, Anxiety Workshops and Relaxation
lechniques. Women's rights workshop, First Aid Training Workshop, CV Writing and inlerview skills workshop.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitsble activities
All the adivities are monitored closely by the trustees and by the stakeholders and funders.
The list below demonstrates the level of key activilies which have been delivered to carers in the year to March 2024.
There are 8.548 carers on our database including former ca￿rS, receiving information by post. phone, text or email. We
had meaningful engagement with 1,554 carers during this period.

732 new carers have been identified this year and added to our dalabase.
Outreach sessions have continued to increase and develop across the borough. and we have continued to provide
online Facebook, Zoom and ￿aISApp peer support lo improve and increase accessibility.
192 counselling hours for carers including monthly evening bereavement and loss group facilitated by the counsellor.
Dementia Carers Support- Directly support 287 carers of Ihose with dementia.
Legal Advice continued lo be provided over the telephone and face to face facililated by Howells solicitors.to give
carers more voice and control.
The funding from the Regional Integration fund continued throughout Ihis period, supporting 538 carers and cared for
during this period for Hospital and Welfare Benefits Support. The Iwo members of staff received 474 carer referrals
during the year.
Macmillan Patient and Carer Information and Support Sep4ice
Continued to provide partnership working with
Nursing Specialisls and Cancer related disciplines in prin￿$$ of Wales Hospital. the palliative team at Y Bwthyn and
continues to ensure no one slips through the net and patient, ￿rerS and families avoid crisis.
The positive partnership with Ihe Macmillan Welfare Benefits team has maximtzed income for carers and families in
addition to the non-income work that is undertaken through the partnership ie Blue Badges, Macmillan Granls etc
Parent Carer Wellbeing SeNice - a project developed for parent carers by staff who are parent carers. The Project
achieved continued growth and development of a setwice providing complex and exlensive one to one support to pa￿nIS
including innovative support through the WildfFower Art Project supporting giris and families with Aulism. dedicated
support group and Lego Club.
The Project has increased tts support to LGBTQ+ families and those families
experiencing emotional based school avoidance. The Parent Carers Wellbeing Project supported over 320 parent
arers in 121 support, a￿sSing grants and made referrals internally to services from the Centre {eg. Welfare
BenefitslCounsellinglLife Coaching) as well as extemal agencies. The service has attracted 181 new parent carers and
there has been over 900 opportunities for them to participate in activities and evenls run by our ￿ntre as well as
introducing them to other events with our external partnerships.
The Parent Carers Wellbeing Projed now has a total of 987 carerslcared for re9lStered and continues to offer access to
a dedicated closed Parent Carers Support Facebook group offering peer support to parents. Many events have been
delivered out of normal centre hours to enable working families to access and attend including. online. evening and
weekend activities. The Project also seeks to idenlify increased male beneficiaries (ie Dads).
Information
The production of three editions of 'ContacV newsletter. printing and circulating through the carers direct mailing list plus
also to the wider community and professionals and organisations. In total 15,000 copies of newsletters are circulated in
the Bridgend area to carers and professionals. In addition, newsletters are circulated online Ihrough email and on the
Bridgend Carers website, Fa￿book and Twitter.

Carers Support Individual Grants
Accessed Carers Support Individual Grants via Carers Trust for carers totalling £35,447 helping 144 carers to address
hardship and financial difficulties worsened by the cost of living crisis. They have included provision of white goods, help
with food provision, fumiture, and digital lechnology.
Young Adult and Young Carers Actlvlties - Highlights
436 Young Carers accessing the service during this time.
Continued with the delivery of one to one sessions and have delivered 336 sessions to 56 Young and Young Adult
Carers in this period.
Secured funding from Principality to start up Under 13's project to run trips and activities for carers aged 5 - 12 in
the school holidays and had over 200 referrals into the new project.
Distributed gifts to over 150 Young Carers provided by Mr X Donations for Christmas.
Continualion funding for Young Carers Peer mentoring sessions who lack Confiden￿ to meet others in a more
relaxed setting before joining larger groups.
Facilitated a group for Young Carers Rights Day which included Young Carers creating and designing a new
badge for their project giving a sense of responsibility and belonging to a seNice that is their own and relevant to
their needs.
Consultstions led wilh Young Carers to help shape the project around their needs.
Delivered a staff training tool to all the 57 schools in the area for staff to complele in their own time.
Arranged a trip to a UCAS open day in Cardiff City Sladium where 9 Young Carers were allowed time out of their
school day to attend.
4 Young Carers took part in WOTk experience at Sarah Murphy (Member of the Senedd) office in Bridgend.
1 Young Adult Carer was recruited by Body Shop. This job advert went out specifically for young carers. The first
to apply was offered the role.
The Young Caiers book The Bear Who Struggled To Care, written by Bridgend Young Carers was re-launched
through Welsh Governmenl and promoted at an evenl in the Senedd.
Conlinuation of our digital presence enabling Young Carers to keep in touch outside of facilitated sessions via
Whats Apptrexts, Inslagram and Fa￿boOk.
Invited all cOMp￿hen$1ve schools and primary schools in the area to a face-t(Fface training event on how to
identify Young Carers. the importance of eady identrfication. who to signpost to and how to refer into SerVi￿s.
Sent out over 100 letters to local businesses, in line with Young Carers Action Day and Fair Futures for Young
Carers, inviting them to pledge to support Young Adult Carers to manage their caring role alongside employment.
Re-evaluated schools who have had the Young Carer5 Schools Award for over a year and recognised their
contribution by awarding them the PLUS award.
Organised a male aspirational event with a range of male carer speakers to provide infonnation about their role
and how to achieve a career outside their caring iole.
Developed groups in schools for Young Carers which has proven to be a success in the schools we have piloted.

Carer Involvement and participation
There has been continued participation by Bridgend Carers Centre and carers al online consultation meetingslevents in
addition to significant consultation and participation of young carers with Carers Trust and Welsh Government. Staff and
Carers have participated in interviews wilh lelevision and radio during this lime. There have been many opportunities
for carers to get involved in completing suNeys, consultations and sharing their views on social medialemail.
We continue to have 3 Young Carers who sit on the Carers Trust Youth Council.
We have 1 young carer who has sat on the Youth Parliament for the last 6 years and has been re-elected.

The Carers Centre has delivered talkslpresentations to organisations online and face to face. The presence of Bridgend
Carers Centre staff at Schools, prin￿$$ of Wales Hospital and GP surgeries has continued. We have developed an
increased oulreach presence through Sandville, Community Outreach, GP surgeries and through other positive
partnerships as above. Awareness raisinglsharing information events and opportunities for ne￿orkIng has continued
through online seminars, meetings and conferences. Carers Centre staff balance working from home, Offi￿ in outreath
settings to maximise our presence and unidentified carers.
Staff and trustees have accessed external online training sessions, seminars and conferences to broaden their learning
and increase skills. Main achievements have included staff undertaking an ILM Qualification in Management, Food
Hygiene and Play Worker qualification.
Both staff and trustees have participated in online local and national carer-centred networks. These networks ensure
equitable seryice access for carers across Wales and are also a means of keeping up to date with all Carers Legislation

Feedback
Feedback is encouraged and received ￿gUlarlY from carers who use the services of Bridgend Carers Centre. The formal
feedback evaluations are used to influence future developments and activities within the Carers Centre and are also
used in regular reports to trustees and projecvs fijnders which in turn can influence implementation of new seNices.

"I was offered life coaching at a very difficult time. I was going through an upheaval in my life and carrying a lot of stress.
Throughout the course of the sessions with the Life Coach further, ￿allY life changing difficult events occuffed. The
Coach really did help me through these difficult times. She allowed me to discuss some of the cuffent issues and was
able to inco￿0[ale them into the sessions, showng me how the life coaching was ￿leVant. I found the sessions
immediately very cathartic. and about half- way through, noticed my thinking was being innuenced positively by the
sessions. I was automatically reframing issues and stnjcturing my thinking going fo￿ard. LitHe things from the sessions
We￿ coming to mind. For me personally. I found the sessions more benefi￿al and therapeutic than actual counselling
that I had been going to in order to manage my stress and offset ill health. I found it is not a silverbullet, but a cnitch that

comfortable to talk to. These sessions started at a perfect transitional stage of my life where a lot was taking place. The

The charity reported a net income position of £5.530 for the year ended 31 March 2024.
Risks
The main risk to the charity, identffied in April 2023124. is that we fail lo suslain the tharily by not maintaining future
funding from a more diverse pool of funders. We have worked hard to maintain the reserves so we can survive to support
carers al a reduced level whilst attempting to seek further fvnding from elsewhere. This is our main challenge as we go
into the new financial year.

Principal funders
Bridgend Carers Centre would like to thank and acknowledge the principal funders, Cwm Taf University Health Board,
Bridgend County Borough Council. Carers Trust UK, Macmillan Cancer Care, Children in Need. St James Place,
Walerloo Foundation, Moondance, Wales and West utilities and all those who have made financial contributions in
donations and fundraising.
Going concem
The charity has increased its workload and are working towards sustainability of continued funding and its overall servi
for years to come.
Reserves
The total funds of £162,697 (2023: £127,167) include £90.643 (2023.. £80.838) which is held for restricted purposes.
Free reseNes al the 31 March 2024 were £68,176.
The charity has estimated that the level of free reseNes required to cover working capital requirements, day to day
running costs and planned deficits without the need for bank borrowing to be £89,000. This figure also lakes into
consideration the funds required to cover redundancy costs should the charity not be able to obtain future funding. The
Company Secretary and the Treasurer undertake regular training lo assist Ihe charity with ils financial management
systems.
The charity will continue to seek additional funding to support the increasing demands on its services as it becomes even
more widely recognised and used. and to enable the development of new services to meet the needs idenlified.
Increased fundraising efforts have assisted in the building up of additional free reserves.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governtng document
The charity is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity and is govemed by its Memorandum and Articles
of Association.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
Appointment of Irustees is either by Ihe charity annual general meeting or by Ihe other trustees, as laid down in its formal
procedures.
Organisational structure
Sixteen staff are managed by CEO. The Team has a part time Deputy CEO, a Young Carers and Young Adult Care
Manager and a Parent Carers Senior role offering an organisational structure of command and decision making. The
Administrator {Company Secretary) and CEO are part of the Management Board which reports to and implements
decisions made by ihe Board. The Administrator gives financial reports and CEO reports on the activity at the Centre.
Further decisions are made at sub group level - Financial Planning Sub Group, HR Sub Group, Policy Sub Group.
Friends of Bridgend Carers Centre Fundraising Group. They bring recommendations to the full Board. Any purchase
over £IOOO has to be sanctioned by the Board.
The existing CEO retired on 31 March 2024 and after a recruitment process the successfijl candidate was the existing
Deputy CEO, who took over the role from 1 April 2024. The trustees would like to express their deep appreciation of the
outgoing CEO and the work she undertook for the Charity and its work with carers.

Induction and training of new trustees
New Irustees spend time at the Carers Cenlre with both staff and carers to become familiar with the Centre's aclivilies
and ethos as well as the responsibilities of trustees. The CEO works closely with all trustees to ensure they have a clear
understanding of the charity's objectives and aims, and how these are achieved. They gain a wider understanding of the
national picture through the Carers Trust ne￿ork and through Carers Wales initialives, and also are kept up to date with
current legislation which is relevant for carers, and which will have a marked influence on the way we work with carers
and progress new initiatives. The trustees, the CEO and the Company Secretary participate in training opportunities
provided by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisalions, Carers Trust,
Carers Wales, Bridgend County Borough Council, Charities Commission, Companies House and other relevant
organisations to ensure all obligations are met in relation to the charitable govemance of the Carers Centre. Trustees
regularly participale in Ihe activities of the Carers Centre to maintain their understanding of the issues fa￿d by carers,
the work of the staff team and any new developments being undertaken.
Wages of key management personnel and for all staff have been set by the BCBC pay scale - National Joint Council
{NJC). We set our wages in line with these scales. Any issues including wage reviews are discussed by the HR Sub
Group who meet every six weeks and report back to the Trustees Board Meeting.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounls of the Company for the year ended 31 March 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for
the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Ad 2¢J06 {'Ihe 2006 Act,).
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act
and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as carried
out under Sedion 145 of the Charities Act 2011 flhe 2011 Act,). In carrying out my examination I have followed the
Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145{5) {b) of the 2011 Act.

STATUTORY INFORMATION
Bridgend Carers Centre is a company limited by guarantee incorporated in Wales within the United Kingdom. The
liability of each member is limited to £10. The registered office is 87 Park Street, Bridgend, CF314AZ.
The principal activities and nature of Ihe charity's operations is to provide support for people who care for the ill,
frail, elderly, disabled including those with a physical or learning disability and those with menlal health or
substance misuse issues within the Bridgend County Borough.
The financial Statements are presented in Sterling {£), the company's functional currency, and rounded lo the
nearest pound.
The significant accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below.
These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless otherwise slated.
ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial ststements
The financial slatements of the charitable company. which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been
prepared in accordan￿ with the Charlties SORP {FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities-. Statement
of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019),, Financial
Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the
Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
There have been no material departures from Financial Reporting Slandaid 102.
Income
All income is recognised in the Statemenl of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is
probable that the income will be re￿ived. and the amount can be measured reliably.
This includes capilal grants.
Donations and legacies income
Donations and legacies are accounled as incoming resources upon receipt or when the receipt is probable and
the amount re￿1vable can be estimated reliably. Such income is only deferred when the donor spectfies it must
be used in future accounting periods or the donor has imposed conditions which must be met before the charity
has unconditional entitlement.
Charitable activities
Income from charitable activities indudes income re￿IVed under contract or where entitlement lo grant funding is
subject to specific perfomance conditions. This income is recognised where Ihere is entitlement, when the
receipt is probable and the amount can be measured reliably. Income is deferred when the amounts reeived are
in advance of the performance of the service or event to which they relale.
Investment Income
Investment income is recognised on a receivable basis.
Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constnjctive obligation committing the
charity to that expenditure. it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in selllement and
the amounl of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and
has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. W)ere costs cannot be
directly attributed to particular headings, they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use
of resources.
Expenditure on charitable activities comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of ils activities
and services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocaled directly to such activities and those
costs of an indirect nature lo support Ihem.
Support costs are those that, whilst ne￿SSary to deliver an activity, do not themselves produce or constitute the
output of the charity.

Expenditure
Expenditure includes VAT as Ihe charity is not VAT regislered.
Allocation and apportionment of costs
As the charity has only one activity, being the support of people who care for the sick, disabled, mentally ill, frail,
elderfy or othe￿ise infim within the Bridgend County Borough area. there is no allocalion of costs across
activities. Some costs are allocated belween direct costs and support costs based on an estimate of time or
resources as appropriate.
Flnanclal Instruments
The charity only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualrfy as basic financial instruments.
Basic financial instruments are initially recognised al transaction value and subsequently measured at their
settlement value.
Debtors
Trade debtors and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due after any trade discounts offered.
Prepayments are valued al the amount prepaid net of any Irade discounts due.
Creditors
Creditors are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably
result in the transfer of funds to a Ihird party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or
estimated reliably. Creditors are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade
discounts due.
Tangible fixed assets
Fixed assets are initially recorded at cost.
Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost of an asset, less its estimated residual value. over the useful
economic life of thal asset as follows..
Fixtures, fittings and equipment

Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation lax on its charilable activities.
Hire purchase and leasing Commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charges to the Ststement of Financial Aclivilies on a straight line basis
over the period of the lease.
Fund a¢¢ounting
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the trustees, discretion for any purpose within the objects of the
charity.
Restrided fvnds have been received with slipulation from the donor as to the purpose for which they may be
used.
Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the trustees for particular pU￿ose$.
Transfers from restricted to unrestricted funds are made when the expending of Ihe funds has fulfilled the terms
of the restriclion.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The charitable company operates a defined contribulion pension scheme. Contributions payable to the
charstable company's pension scheme are charged to the Slatement of Financial Activities in Ihe period to which
they relate.

Transfers between funds
Transfers have been made from the general fund to restricted funds where fixed assets have been purchased
and the restriction met.

EMPLOYEE BENEFIT OBLIGATIONS
The charity operates a defined contribution pension scheme. The assets of the scheme are held separately from
those of the charity in independenlly adminislered funds. Pension costs are apportioned to both activities and
be￿een unrestricted and restricted funds in proportion lo the related staffing costs incurred. The pension cosl
charge represents contributions paid by the charity to the fund and amounted to £7,480 {2023.- £5.506).
Contributions outstanding at the year end amounted to £Nil {2023 '. £Nil).

RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURES
The total key management personnel remuneration benefits paid during the year was £42,690 (2023.. £39,949).
The total unconditional donations made to the charity by ils trustees amounted to £9,300 (2023- £1,100).
