– New Hope for Africa (UK) 2023 Annual Trustee Report
Objectives
The charity seeks to advance the life opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people in Uganda through the provision of education in a safe, caring environment and helping to develop independent, mature and responsible individuals.
- Review of the year from June 2022 May 2023
A trustee visit to the school took place in February, lasting 10 days, to assess progress and evaluate the impact of the Covid pandemic. Representatives from a UK Educational Trust taking part in the visit were impressed by the good standards of discipline, teaching and the respect shown by the pupils to the staff and likewise the staff to the pupils.
The team were able to provide a wide range of health, welfare and educational items and, also assess the scope for future projects. Two major areas for improvements being identified. One being to improve the distribution of fresh water across the site and the second was the need to build a new kitchen.
A new kitchen was completed four months after the visit and the water project has been scheduled for fundraising activities into 2024.
