Thetrusteespresenttheirreportwiththefinancialstatementsofthecharityfortheyear ended
26August2022.ThetrusteeshaveadoptedtheprovisionsofAccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordance with
the FinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the UK and Republicof Ireland(FRS 102) (effective1  January
2019).

`OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES`

`Objectives and aims`

Toadvancehealthforthepublicbenefitbypromotingandprotectingthephysicalandmentalhealth of
sufferersofphotosensitiveskindiseasesandrelatedconditionsintheUnitedKingdom,sufferersof other
dermatologicaldiseaseswhicharetreatedwithphototherapyandinparticular(butwithoutlimitation) by
providingor assistingin the provisionof researchgrants,facilitiesand equipmentnot normallyprovided by
the statutory authorities at Guy;'s and St Thomas' NHS Foundation trust.

To advance education and training for the public benefit in the field of Photodermatology.

`Significant activities`

Promotingand/orcarryingout researchinthesubspecialityof Photodermatology,includingresearch into
photosensitive skin disorders,carried out by the Photodermatology Unit, St John's Institute of Dermatology.

Providinggrantsforand/orassistingintheclinicalcareofpatientsunderthecareoftheUnitinways not
normally provided by the statutory authorities at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Providinggrantsforand/orprovidingspecialistequipmenttotheUnitnotnormallyprovidedby the
statutory authorities at Guy's and St St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust

Providing and/or assisting with the training of staff working in the Unit.

Awarding fellowships and/or studentships to enhance experience in the Unit.

Promotingand/orsupportingotherprojectsandcauseswhichpromotethedevelopmentof the
subspeciality of Photodermatology in the UK.

Presentingresultsofresearchinthesubspecialityofphotodermatologytoconferences,meetings and
workshops for the purposes of training and education within this field.

`ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE`

`Charitable activities`

August2021-August2022wastheyearwhenthecharity'sactivitiesrestartedfollowingthevery quiet
periodduringcovid.Sincelaterin2022 weranourPhotodermatologyCourse,duringthisyear'21-'22, we
receivedthe incomefor the Course(coursefees)so thiswasa yearinwhichresourcesincreased. Because
non-virtualconferencesand the rest of researchand traininglife resumed,expenseswere back againat the
pre-pandemic levels as well as income.

So for Account balances:there was a net increasein resourcesof £22,783.68.Howevertotal assets remain
good enough, totalling £93,025.27 at the end of the year.

The PhototherapyNetworkis changingand beingdowngradedin responseto nationalbodiesfinally taking
upthisimportantwork,whichwillcreatemoreopportunitiesforgivingcharitablegrantsformore varied
projectsthan has been possiblehitherto.This willalso free up nearly£15,000 per year of fundingnext year
from the charity to be used for other charitable purposes.

The Charity continues to effectively achieve its charitable objectives.

The Trustees effectively represent the various stakeholders.

`FINANCIAL REVIEW`

`Principal funding sources`

Principalsourcesoffundsareusually:CoursefeesandSponsorshipofthetwoCourseswe run---the
Photodermatologyand PhototherapyCourses;privatepatientfeesfor patientstreatedby our Unitat  Guys
and St Thomas' Hospital.

The expenditurehas supportedthe keyobjectivesof the Charityby helpingto providesupportfor patients
with Photodermatologicaldiseasesfor thingsthat are not coveredby the NHS . We are alsosupporting the
objectiveof supportingresearchthat isongoingand our majorexpenditurehas beento supportthe South
East EnglandPhototherapynetworkwhichaimsto improvephototherapystandardsin the NHS,and which
has  not hitherto been funded by the NHS (see detailed comments above).

Our investmentpolicy is to keep our relativelysmallreservesin accounts which are safe and secure in times
of financial instability.

`Reserves policy`

Our reservesareneververylargesincethe scaleof our operationand of the Trustissmall.Totalassets at
the end of the year have increased by £ £22,783.68 to be fine at £ 93,025.27.

What we haveis heldin a CurrentPlusaccount at Natwestbut we alsohavea NationwideBuilding Society
Treasurer'sTrustAccount.TheNationwideBuildingSocietyTreasurer'sTrustAccountbecame gradually
moredifficulttouseovertheyearsbecauseithadnochequebookandnorcouldelectronicpayments be
madeeasilyintooroutofit.Wewerethereforenotentirelysurprised(shortlyafterthisfinancial year
'21-'22endedinSeptember2022)whenNationwideannouncedtheclosureofallTreasurer's Trust
Accounts. So for next year's accounts our only bank account will be the one at Natwest.

`Responsibilities and basis of report`

AsthecharitytrusteesoftheTrustyouareresponsibleforthepreparationoftheaccountsin accordance
with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examinationof the Trust's accounts carriedout under section 145 of the Act and in
carryingoutmyexaminationIhavefollowedallapplicableDirectionsgivenbytheCharity Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Ihavecompletedmyexamination.Iconfirmthatnomaterialmattershavecometomyattention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

`1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES`

`Basis of preparing the financial statements`

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharity,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,have been
preparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicableto charitiespreparingtheiraccountsin accordance
withtheFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS 102)
(effective1January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReporting Standard
applicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCharitiesAct2011.Thefinancial statements
have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

AllincomeisrecognisedintheStatementof FinancialActivitiesoncethecharityhasentitlement to
the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

`Expenditure`

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructive obligation
