Annual Report 2024-2025
Overview of Our Work
Throughout the past year, Splice has continued to provide vital support to children and families experiencing social, emotional, and financial disadvantage. Many of the families we work with face multiple challenges, and our services aim to reduce stress, strengthen family relationships, and improve overall wellbeing.
As a result of our programmes, families have reported improvements in:
e« Emotional wellbeing
-
e Mental health
-
e Confidence and self-esteem e Nutrition and healthy eating habits
These achievements have been made possible by the commitment of our staff and volunteers, alongside the invaluable support of our funders. Their generosity has allowed us to keep our doors open and ensure families can access specialist support, family learning sessions, and essential practical resources.
Splice continues to offer a welcoming, non-judgemental environment where families receive encouragement, guidance, and positive attention. By nurturing parenting skills and building coping strategies, we help families develop resilience and confidence for the future. Rooted in the local community and working across the county, we provide services and activities that strengthen community connection and promote fairness, opportunity, and inclusion.
Partnership Working — Slade Farm Organics
Our partnership with Slade Farm Organics has remained a valued part of our programme. Through their Community Supported Agriculture initiative, 18 families received weekly bags of fresh, organically grown seasonal vegetables throughout the growing period. Parents told us their family diets improved significantly, with children trying and enjoying vegetables they would not usually have access to. Many families explained that purchasing such a variety of fresh produce would otherwise be unaffordable. Visits to the farm and participation in “Seed to Harvest” workshops gave families the chance to learn where food comes from, inspiring some to begin growing vegetables at home. This collaboration has supported healthier lifestyles while strengthening family engagement and learning.

Splice Baby Bank
The Splice Baby Bank continues to be an essential lifeline for families experiencing financial hardship. We provide access to everyday baby and child necessities, including nappies, formula, baby food, toiletries, maternity products, and sanitary items.
Through generous public donations, we are also able to supply larger equipment such as prams, pushchairs, cots, and starter moses baskets for newborns. Health visitors, midwives, children’s services, and support workers regularly refer families to the Baby Bank, recognising the crucial role it plays. Splice is the only service of its kind available locally, offering dignity, practical help, and reassurance when parents need it most and times of crisis.
Family Sessions
Our popular family sessions continue to be a popular resource for families within the community. They give parents the opportunity to learn together along with their children, forging bonds and reducing isolation. We endeavour to provide a stimulating environment with a wide variety of activities.
Community Garden
We were able to lease a small plot of land from V2C housing association adjacent to our community building and were delighted to be awarded funding from Keep Tidy Wales and receive a Growing food starter pack and also funding from Asda foundation and a voucher from a supporter for our local garden centre to enable us to create a community garden. We have been able to grow a small amount of produce — strawberries, carrots, lettuce, onions and potatoes and look forward to developing this further over the coming months, years
Warm Hub
Funding from the Welsh Government and awarded to Splice by BAVO, enabled us to operate a Warm Hub during the winter months. Sessions provided a safe, heated community space for individuals and families affected by fuel poverty. Alongside warmth and refreshments, attendees benefited from companionship, shared activities, and reduced isolation.
This initiative provided both immediate relief and longer-term household benefits.

Community Fundraising and Donations
Alongside grant funding, community fundraising and individual donations continue to play a vital role in sustaining our services.
Support this year has come through:
Gift Aid and online donations, PayPal giving, Facebook auctions, recycling schemes, table-top sales, Vinted sales, raffles, general donations, contributions linked to play sessions, community events, fun days, Baby Bank donations, vegetable bag donations, and gifts of baby equipment, shoes, and clothing.
These contributions provide flexible funding and practical resources, enabling us to respond to families in need.
Monitoring and Learning
Our experience shows that children flourish when their families and home environments are supported. While parents and caregivers are central to children’s development, many need additional assistance to meet complex challenges. Universal services such as education and healthcare are essential, but some families also require specialist support to overcome difficulties relating to mental health, housing, poverty, or social isolation. By working with the whole family, rather than focusing solely on the child, we achieve stronger and more lasting outcomes. Ongoing feedback from service users helps us reflect, improve, and adapt our services to meet real community needs.
