ups this year but still remains available via our website.

they have been workin8 under the Clarion umbrella but 5elf-funded since September 2021. They are
still accountable to Clarion and they are still working partly with CIiANE and VIVA. Alison is continuing
to work with a medical mission and Paul is building on many of the strategic partnerships with kev
people in Ugandan society e5tabllshed by Clarion over many years. Their visa 15 valid untll the end of

Stafflng and Trustees
Sue Pole continued working as Stephen's PA and office manager and David Fletcher continued to mana8e

Flnan¢lal Revlew
The Trustee5 Wish to thank all our prayer partners and 5UPPOrters for their faithful financial and prayer
support for Clarion. We are grateful to God for hls ongoin8 financial provision durin8 3 period of
continuing uncertainty and the cost-of-livin8 crisis. In the year under consideration, we achieved an
In¢ome of £246,830 (£60,492 for Ugandal. resultin8 In a deficit of £15,118 (deficit of £5,947 for
Ugandal at the year end.

Going concern
Going concern is a basic underlying assumption that an or8anisation will be able to continue operatin8
for a period of time lusually 12 months from date of signing the accounts) that is sufficient to carry out
it5 cornrnitments, obligations, objectives. and so on. In other words. the organisation will not have to
liquidate or be forced out of business in the foreseeable future.
Clarion has no lon8-term commitments, leases or contrarts and has been successfully operating for
twelve yeaT5, meetirig all its financial commitment5 Without the need for loans or bank overdraft
facilities. Our cashflow is tightly monitored to ensure that our aims and objectives are achieved
without financi31 risk to the organisation. We have an increasing supporter donor base, including
significant global partners. The Trustees of Clarion are confident that the charity will continue as
goin8 concern for the foreseeable future.
Reserves Pollcy
The reserve5 policy has notchanged since last yearwherebyfree reserrfe5 held by the charity
should be maintained at sufficient cash levels to maintain the Charity's operations in the event
of short-term funding fluctuations or unforeseen costs. The Board 15 always keen to look to
increase reserves to an acceptable level.
Rlsk Management
The responsibility for the management and control of the charlty rests with the Trustees and therefore
their Involvement in the key aspects of the risk management process is essential. The Trustees
undertake a regular review of the risks faced by the charity and seek to plan for the management and
mitigation of those risks. They meet for a quarterly busine55 rneetin8 and informally on a monthly ba515.
The Charity hès a comprehensive risk mana8ement policy. but the main risks to the functioning of
Clarion Trust International as identified by the Trustees are.. il cashflow- ill the wellbeing of our Director,
Stephen Gaukroger.. Illl overseas travel rlsks. and Iv) perception and reputatlon.
l. Cash flow. We are reliant on both Indlvidual and corporate donors. Some 8lve on a re8ular basis
and other5 give on an ad hoc basis. In a period of economic uncertainty and a c05t-of-livin8 crlsls,
we are aware that we might experience a reduction or termination of funding from donors. Our
ca5hflow and the overall financial position is reviewed both weekly and monthly by the Chairman
with the Dirertor. Our Director keeps the Trustees informed of fluctuations in the accounts and
acts on their advice.
2. The wellbelnl of our Dirertor. Stephen Gaukroger is the key player in enabllng us to dellver
Clarion's Vision and 8oa15. In view of the significant international travel he undertakes, the
Trustees insist that he trave15 business class on all long-haul flights. They also ensure that he has a
full medical check every year.
3. Overseas Travel Rlsks. When considering invitations to speaking engagements and conferences
overse35, the Trustees and the Director carefully assess the travel risks.
4. PtrcÈptlon and Reputatlon. We put a hi8h value on the integrity and credibility of the Charity
both in the UK & overseas and our Trustees have excellent networks of contacts to ensure that
we are aware of any issue5 that may arise. Our Direttor communicates re8ularly wlth our
supporters and is quick to thank donors for their gifts.
