The Trustees of the JTYAF have enabled the
provision of OppOrtunrt￿ for many local young
people to fuffil their ambttions in lrfe and to really
develop as individuals. As a Board of Trustees,
we have fulfilled our obJ"ecttve to provFde financial
assistance for especially. but not exclusively,
leisure b.me activities and pursurts, so as to
d8velop the Gapabilrti8s of selec*ed young people.

This has been achieved by awarding scholarships
and bursaries to young people selected by the
organisations that we support, woviding
opportunities which encourage personal
development and achievement. Discretionary
Awards to young people who do nol belong to any
of the supported organisations have also
accourrted for a substantial amount of awarded
funding together with furxls for whole school and
group projects.
In its 14th
year and during continued dtfficulties
with the financial crisis. the Foundation has
maintained its support of young people with
awards of over £88,500 to more than 130 young
individuals. In addtbon, the JTYAF fvnded 21
whole school and group ventures which included a
£34.000 Jubilee Fund, set up to commemorate the
late Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The Jubilee Fund
supported mental heath and vRII-being projeds
for 6 local schools .

First S¢hool, Hampreston First School, the Coda
Fiddle Orchestra, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Scheme, Boumemouth, Christchurch and P¢)ole
and the Shires.Dorset. East Dorset and
Christchurch Division Scouts. North East Minster
Guides and North East Forest Guides, the Tall
Ships Youth Trust, and Boumemouth Sea Cadets
& Royal Marine Cadets.
The Discretionary Fund and Accessible Funds
were used to provide opportunities for young
people who are not members of the JTYAF'S
supported organisations. During 2022 a totsl of
£10.700 was awarded to 15 individuals
The charity also continues to fund the lease for a
1 &seater minibus, serving 7 local sGhools plus
numerous local youth organisations.

During 2022 the JfYAF resumed all its regular
annual fundraising events, ex￿pt for ¢ollecting
days at supeTmarkets, vthich was previously one
of the major aCtNIt￿ for our volunteer team.
Contnbution made by
volunteers
The Cury Night arKI Trout Fishing Day retumed
for the first time Sin￿ the parKlemic and both
events were organised by a JTYAF volunteer. Th8
Bingo Night was also organised by a volunteer
and supported by volunteers and trustees at the
event.
The JK House Coastal Tab organised by a
volunteer was supported on the day by a team of
volunteers from the Air Cadets.
Trustees and volunteers supported the charity at
the Boumemouth Air Show Hospitalty Day.
Volunteers from Barclays and HSBC not onty
provided their help but also contributed to the
funds raised with £4£ matched funding from their
ive banks.

JTYAF volunteers have a￿VaYS played an
essential part in the success of our many
fundraising events, but the challenges of the
Covid-19 pandern￿ have seen our team of
volunteers much redu￿d.
JTYAF Ambassadors are a150 ￿ntral to the
operation of the Charity, raising the pn)file of the
JTYAF, organising fundraising support and also
providing personal funding support.
Achievements and Performance
The Foundation has had a successful 14 year.
The charty has again received a substantial
personal donation and funds have been raised by
many iThJividuals and groups. The charity has also
been supported by a range of businesses through
'tharity of the yearf status. These funds have
s￿red the continued succèss of the Gharity and
will support awards for 2023.

During 2022 over £88,5LK) v￿S awarded to
individuals and groups. The chartty also continues
to fund the lease for a 17-seater minibus, serrfing
7 local schools plus numerous local youth
organisations.
The charity provided fvnding to support young
people from 20 youth organisations. Examples of
this support indudes:_
Fomdown Upper *hool
Almost £17,500 was awarded as a music
scholarship and 49 bursaries for individuals.
Funding supported students of photography.
music. media, and several different sports together
with support for volurrteering expedrtions in
Bomeo, Thailand and Ghana. As an example, an
award was made to a 15 year old to pay for trav81
expenses and equipment for her to take part in the
Irish Dancing Championships in Dublin.
rYAF funding reduced the cost of a Design and
Technology trip to ParTrs making it accessible for
15 Pupil Premium students 19 Pupil Premium
students also received financial support for their
Year 9 Residential Trip
The JTYAF supported several whole school
projects. These included funding outside seating
for VUl￿rable students, and the purchase of tents
and cam

complete their Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award
Expedrtion.
In addthon to the all¢xated frjnding. an extra £6000
from the Jubilee Fund contributed to the
development of a nèw Pastoral and SEN area
(Student Hub) and also funded mental health wall
art.
Dorset & Wllts Wing Air Cadets
During 2022 the Air Cadets were able lo resume
their normal activities. The ￿ThAF funded an Air
Cadefs attendance at Easter Cadet Camp, an
Organist's Summer Sdwl for a talented
musician, together with the Nijmegen Marches for
an individual Air Cadet. The JTYAF also paid for
an MTA Leadership Training kit for 874
(Sherbourne) Squadron.
Alr Cadet Junior Leaders Course
The Cadet Junior Leaders Course resumed in
2022 and JTYAF fvnding paid for a team of 15
Qualified Air Cadet Junior Leaders to take part in
an Oulward Bound Course further developing and
improving the leadership skills a¢quired during the
Junior Leaders Course.
A fying scholarship was proposed but this did not
go ahead. Funding was allocated but not used.
Coda Fiddle Orchestra
An award of £4000 provided scholarships for 10
talented young violinists who have been assessed
as having outstanding abilty. These young people
are given the opportunity to further develop their
musical talents by the provision of 1..1 tuition. The
John Thomton Music Scholars ranged in ability
from the youngest twinners to those studying at
Grade 7.
This communty music project is specifically aimed
at children and young people in Boscombe who
would not otherwise have access to music
opportunities of this type, parb'cularfy from
disadvantaged families.
The JfYAF was delighted to hear that a fomier
John Thomton Music Scholar has recently taken a
pla￿ at Cardtff Universrty to study music.
Duke of Edlnburgh's Award Schemes. DorneL
Boumemouth Christchurch & Poole
The JTYAF supported 19 young people to take
part in the D of E whiGh builds confidence and
develops seif*teern. It requires persisten￿,
commitment and has a lastiThJ impact on the
attitudes and ouuook of all young people who take
part. JTYAF support helped with registration fees,
expedttion costs and essential equipment such as
walking boots.

Dorset & Wilts Fire and Rescue Service Cadets
Scheme
The JTYAF funded 6 sessions of cricket coaching
to support a young Fire Cadet's ambition to
achieve a place in the t)orset County Squad.
Funding to pay for essential equipment and
walking boots also enabled a Fire Cadet to take
part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
and complete her Bronze Expedition.
Tall Shlps Trust
20 Year 8 pupils from St Michael's Middle School
were alk to experience a 4-day residential
voyage with the Tall Ships Trust due to £900 of
JTYAF funding.
West Moors Middle School
The JTYAF supported 3 students from West
Moors MKldle Sthool, enabling them:_
to conbnue wth Scouts by providing
funding for fees, activty days and unrfomi,
to continue with piano lessons and
to take part in a residential school trip.
Bournemouth Sea Cathts & Royal Marine
Cadets
Used their award allorAtion to purchase DofE and
meteorology equipment for the unit and also to
pay for 3 Sea Cadets to take part in an Offshore
Power Course.
The Jubilee Fund
£34.(KJO was awarded to 6 local schools in
celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The Jubilee Funding was made available for
special enrichment projects aimed at supporting
the mental heahh and wellbeing of the diildren.
Femdown Upper School used their award to fully
fund a wall art project which will provide visual
mentsl health supwrt for all the students. The
funding also contributed towards the development
of the student area in the Indusii)n Hub for higher
need SEND students.
Femdown Middle School created a Tranquillity
Garden and their award contributed towards the
ground works and planting. The new garden
provides a quiet. peaGefiJl Spa￿ for children to
reflect at break and lunchtimes. The space is also
used for counselling and well-being activities to
support thildren's mental heath.
Beaucroft Foundation School uséd their funding to
help to provide a performan￿ space for students.
The outside stage offers many beneffts for the
whole school communty, being used infomially at
playtime. and more formally for the legendary
Beaucroft talent shffivs.

At Femdown First School the School Councyl put
together their bid for funding for a Play Trail and
used their award to pay for the ￿ntre piece
dimbing frame The importance of outside play in
early years canl be urNJerestimated and is
invaluable for a chikl's developmenL
Parley First School have installed a Mongolian
Yurt in the Forest School Area. paid for by their
JTYAF funding. This VI￿11 be used througholrt the
year to prowde both shetter and a calming spa
for children to receNe teaching and a range of
theraptes including Mindfulness and Yc•Ja.
At Hampreston First School an IT Suite will be
onverted to a Reading Room viith help from the
JTYAF. The new spao WFII not only provide a rich
literacy expenence bui also a quiet area surtable
for the nurturing wort( necessary for children wilh
anxiety and mental health issues.
This is not an exhaustive list but imparts a flavour
of the diversrty which the JTYAF encourages, and
the huge beneffts Frovided to young people in our
communty. Young people and their families
continue to face many challenges and the JTYAF
is privileged to be able to offer support at this
difficult time Young people have been able to take
part in activibes which they would not have been
able to do without JTYAF funding and the school
projects rnade possible have made a real
drfFerence to the young Feople who have
benefitted from them.
The JTYAF has continued to develop links with
other organisations and has had several business
partners during the year, induding JK House
Training Centre, Femd¢Y4Yn & Parley Rotary Club.

very successful. We received incredibly generous
support from the Air Cadet Junior Leaders on
Course 22 vthose individual fundraising adivities
raised more than £27,000. This together with
large personal donation has ensured that the
JTYAF can continue to support young people at

Our main source of fundraising is from

the charity We are however privileged to receive
a substantial amount of fvnding in personal and
business donations and from Charity of the Year

Air Cadet Junior Leaders fundraise for the JTYAF
as part of their ILAM Qualification and have
contribLrted a substants'al amount of our income
for several years. During 2022 the Air Cadets on
the Course 22 organised individual fundraising
activth'es and raised an incredible £27 000.
