REVIEW OF ACTIVITY

The Aleksander Foundation promotes and supports the development of the Bulgarian university education through its portfolio of programs, scholarships and community events. The charity has no permanent staff or field operations. Through fund-raising initiatives and events, the charity allocates grants to individual students to support them while studying, as well as directly to Universities in Bulgaria, UK and Austria on the basis of annual projects which are reviewed by the Trustees. The Trustees provide their services on an unremunerated basis, including administrative support.

There were no changes in the nature of these activities during the period.

RESULTS

The results for the period are shown in the Balance Sheet and Income and Expenditure Account attached to this report.

Fundraising was sufficient to meet the applications for project funding received.

DISTRIBUTIONS

Aleksander Foundation agreed support for the following individual students and institutions with projects in university education in the year to 5th April 2024: Kalina Tsaneva and Elia Panchova; Stefan Karaleev at CEU (Vienna), London School of Economics (for Teodor Nedev and Konstantina Georgieva), University College London, Central European University (Vienna) and the American University in Bulgaria.
