Building beyond ee
AFTER SCHOOL CAN BE A TOUGH AND CHALLENGING EXPERIENCE FOR MANY BOYS. WITH LOTS OF ENERGY AND TIME, AND LITTLE CONSTRUCTIVE PROGRAMME, THE STREET CAN QUICKLY BECOME A PLACE TO HANG OUT.
In addition, there is an influx of boys suffering emotional challenges such as anxiety and stress. Schools have commented how they would like to refer their students to a quality programme that also provides mentorship, friendship and support.
Our after-school programmes offer social opportunities, a relaxing and safe space as well as quality mentors. By joining a programme such as music sessions, art classes or woodwork groups young boys can be stimulated and enjoy with their friends in a supportive environment. They are busy, which reduces stress and anxiety. Sessions build confidence and self-esteem. Our boys get a chance to shape and fulfil their dreams.
Music sessions- Led by a variety of qualified instructors, boys can join small groups of up to 6 boys for a one-hour weekly session such as drumming, singing or Vibro- acoustic therapy. Participants who struggle socially interact in a facilitated environment and learn healthy communication, displaying empathy, turn taking and making and maintaining friendship
Woodwork- Here boys can dream big and build the structure they choose to, under the careful guidance of an experienced carpenter. It is gratifying to observe the variety of choices and the sheer joy of a finished product, that has been through hours of hard work and concentration. Wood work is a sure way to build confidence in our users.
Creative Arts- Fun4Kids offers a variety of stimulating Art classes in painting, art technique, drama, and graphic design. These sessions are often led by therapists to guide our users to use the opportunity of the class for self-expression.
Cooking Class- Our after-school cooking classes offer users a fun and enriching experience, teaching them essential culinary skills in a supportive environment. The classes focus on preparing healthy and affordable meals, emphasizing the importance of nutrition and mindful eating. Users learn practical techniques such as chopping, sautéing, and baking, while also exploring new recipes and cuisines. Beyond cooking, the classes foster teamwork, creativity, and confidence, empowering users to make informed food choices and develop a lifelong love for cooking.

Our Holiday Playschemes are great fillers for boys. These breaks are a chance for them to stretch, unwind and shine. We offer structured stimulating and healthy fun for boys aged 5-15 years old, during school holidays for 4 days a term. Children benefit from small groups, and go on day trips, do team building activities and engage in voluntary work. They develop their confidence and independence and build lasting friendships all in an atmosphere of good cheer and relaxation.
Our holiday programmes attract up to 60 users and are well attended by local children.
We also run an annual 3-day retreat for boys aged 13-15 where we stay in the countryside and do hikes, high course ropes, swimming, rafting and late-night bar b q’s. Special moments are formed under the dark night and twinkling stars. Boys have a chance to shine in our fun social activities and strong friendships are formed.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Heads up - our popular social and team building club, where boys can sign in for a really fun and exciting weekly session which runs for 12 weeks. Using role modelling, interactive activities and team building exercises young boys can grow and expand their social and communication skills. A typical session can include a hilarious activity of trying to explain to a blindfold partner how to fold a paper ship, but without eye contact and body language, a small set of instructions becomes a mammoth task. This particular activity reinforces the need to communicate effectively AND listen carefully. The fun element of the sessions brings our users back for more and this ‘educational’ session is highest rated by our users.

Throughout the summer months we run outdoor sporting sessions on Sundays and weekends. Young boys enjoy activities such as aerobic training, netball and strength training.
TABLE TENNIS: We own a table tennis which we set up in the rooms we use during our holiday playschemes. This is a much enjoyed chill activity which can be used whenever boys need a time out. CYCLING. We run safe bike riding sessions at the start of the summer to ensure our users are geared up for leisure biking in a safe way. This covers how to check tyres, brakes and helmet fit before riding. Then the course covers safe road riding such as switching lanes and cornering safely using hand motions. Finally, riding carefully and stopping safely. ee

10 Young Voices Team WE Our YVT - young voices team program constantly helps us monitor our users’ needs. It helps us watch the progress and success of our work.
We do this via different methods and forms such as video taking after sessions, mini-interviews or handing out an opinion poll to ask the boys what they feel like or what they enjoyed most. This gives them a chance to raise their voice of opinion and improves confidence as we perform further according to their feedback.
In addition, we give out an extensive questionnaire at the start of the course covering hard and soft skills rated on a 1-10 basis. These exact questions will be asked during the course and after the course helping us to map changes and learn how to shape future work that we do.
