The law applicable to chartties in England and Wales, the Charftles Act 2011, Charlty {Accounls and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust dged requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which givo a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and applicatlon of resources, includlng the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to sel8Qt suitable accountlng policies and then apply them consistently. obseNe the methods and principles in the Charity SORP. make judgements and estimat08 that are reasonable and prudent. state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements. prepare the financial statpments on the going concern basis unless it is Inappropriate to presume that the Charity will continue in business. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records whiGh disclose with reasonable accuracy at arty time the financial position of the Gharty and to enable them to gnsure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulatlons 2008 and the provissons of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Achlevements and perforniance Two vans contlnue to operate from the Famer Ward Road premises collecting and delivering white goods. In addition, we now receivè contribLrtions of furniture and bric-a-brac from donors directly to the store on Saturday mornings. Sales of all goods onables the distribution of Charitable funds to n9￿Y individLfals and organisations in the Kenilworth area. Under a voucher soheme, donation0￿ ol furniture and household items have been madg to support refugees, clients of tha local women's refug6 and those in need identified by other organisations. A special sale, well supported by the local community, was arranged in April with the proceeds going to purchase an ambulanco for Ukraine. Ouf furniture store has collected spectaclos (for reuse in die third world} for many years. The recycling has now b6en extended to 'difficult to recycl6, food packaging, bottio corks and desktopllaptop computers. This activlty doos not rai69 funds but reduces the amount of waste going to landfill, helping the environment. The directors are gratefu5 for tho support of members of KenibNOrth Lions Club and volunteers who run the furniture store. bazaar and donatioiis table. Financial review Sales of donated furniture, white goods and bric-a-brac for the year to 30 June 2024 amounted to £84,932. Receipts from Warwickshire County Council for recycling of furnitur8 were £2,481 . Sma11 cash donations from custometB totalled 4,286 and £5,438 was claimed under the government gift aid scheme. A total of £83,671 was transferred to Kenilworth Lions CIO for charitable donations to needy cause8 r the year. In addition to this, numerous vouchers for items of furniture were given out to those in need under the umbrella of other organisations.
