The truslees present their annual report and financial ststements for the year end8d 31 March 2025.
The financial statements have been prepared In accordance with the accounting pollcSes set out In note 1 to the
flnancial stateménts and comply wlth the Charities Ad 2011, the Companies Act 2006, and 'Accounling and
Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charltles preparSng their accounts in
accordance with the Financlal Reportlng Standard applicable in the UK and Republlc of Ireland (FRS 102)" {as
amended for accounting periods commenclng from 1 January 20161
Structure, govèrnance and management
The charity was incorporated on 12 March 2008 as a company limited by guarantee. The memorandum and
articles of association are the governing document.

None of the trustees have any beneficial interest In the company. All of the Iruslees are members of the company
and guarantee to contribute £1 in the event of a winding up.
SOFII has no employees and relles on the efforts of volunteers and self-employed individuals worklng on
specific tasks for the delivery of all its services and activities. In 2024-25 the latter induded long-standing
SOFII assoclales Joanna Culling and Carolina Herrera, as well as Lynda Hatwood-compton, who began
working with SOFII in 2023-24 and who was confirmed by trustees as SOFII'S Director in July 2024.
Additionally, SOFII has continued to use the seNices of Deepika Singh, a consultant engaged by SOFII vla
Upwork whose expertise helps SOFII make much needed adjustments and improvements to the webslte.
David Carringlon, a former trustee, served as SOFII'S Company Secretary and Honorary Treasurer on a
volunteer basls throughout the year. SOFII has also benefitled from the seNice of fundraisers who have
donated thelr tlme lo setve as mentors for IWITOT speakers, as w811 as fundraisers who have contrlbuted
articles to SOFII. In 2024-25, SOFII formed a new Audience Development Advisory Commlltee comprised of
a number of fundraisers who volunteer their time alongside SOFII trustees lo help SOFII grow Ihe number of
fundraisers around the world who 8ccess our content.

SOFII'S lOng-te￿ goal is to become the number one resource for fundraisers around the worfd. The material and
leaming 8vailable from SOFII is generated by the same people who benefit from 11.. fundraisers and Iheir
managars. What's mor8, there's no charge for accessing the website and leaming from It, whlch means that
ffiJndraisers can spend as long as they1Ske learning from SOFII regardless of their tralnlng budgel. This makes
SOFII'S resources particulady appreciated and valued by fijndraisers in small to medium-sized charities.
SOFII'S analybcs show Ihat In Ihe month of January 2025 alone over 12,000 sesslons were recorded by the
SOFII websit8 (a session Is a time when a visitor actively engages with a website). There are now well over
1,100 articles covering all aspects of fundraising on the site.
The SOFII archive is part of the digital UK Web Archive. is a collaboration between the UK Legal Deposit
Libraries (British Llbrary, Bodleian Libraries, Oxford, Cambridge University Llbrarfes, National Llbrary of Scotland,
National Library of Wales and Trinity College, Dublin).

and Foundations showcase they will find samples of tried and tested ideas they can learn from. So far. there are
747 detalled Individual case studles, wlth more being added each month.
A fundralslng archlve
SOFII gives access to some of the best fundraising campaigns in history, the oldest going back more than 3,500
years. The site is building and preseNing a unique record of the hlstory of fundraislng and social change
campaigning. Without SOFII. fundraisers would remain unaware of the lessons that Can be learned from their
hlstory and Ignorant of guidance and inspiration that could help Improve their future communications.

everywhere. Though many other websites produ￿ arbcles for fundraisers, SOFII focuses on appropriate, well-
written materi81 in an easily digested form8t, not readily found elsewhere.
Our flagship event- I bwish I'd Thought of That (IMTOTJ..
IWITOT is SOFII'S successful flagship fundralsing event, usually run each year In London and copied in many
other countries. IWITOT was Inltlally developed by SOFII, with support from Open Fundraislng, one of SOFII'S
business partners. In a single aftemoon, hand-picked speakers chosen from a spectrum of fundralsing speciallsts
each present an Inspirfng fundraising Idea that they wlsh they'd thought of - an Innovalive Idea that we can all
learn from. The caveat is the idea cannot be their own, it must be someone else's. It must be presented in seven
mlnutes or less. IWITOT has become part of the fundraiser's lexlcon and now thousands of fundralsers the world
over have experienced IWITOT'S unique atmosphere - voling for their favourite Idea at the end of each event.
Over the years IWITOT events have now been held In Australla. New Zealand, Canada, USA, France, Holland.
Sweden, Mexico and. of course, the UK. We continue to field ￿qLtestS from fundraisers and organisations who
would like to add IWITOT s6ssions to their conferences, meotings and webinars. The love for IWITOT in the
sector endures.
Progress made In 2024-25:
2024-25 was a productive year ft)r SOFII. Key achievements for SOFII this year include-
Successfully hosting our third fully hybrld IWITOT ev8nl, attracting a global audl8nc8 and significant
sponsorship.
Continuing to dellver r818vant content to our communlty throughout the year, enabling us to grow our

IWITOT 2024- hybrid event
On November 7th 2024, SOFII proudly hosled, alongside our partner Op8n, our twelfth flagship IWITOT
event, raturning to Amnesty International's London headquarters, 8 venue where we had prevlously hosted
IWITOT events. As in pre￿ou$ years, we sold out in-person tickets, and thanks lo a livestream produced in
collaboratlon wSth our partner Everywher8+ we were ultimately loln8d by over 300 fundralsers from 18
countries {Belglum. Brazil. Canada, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Th8 Netherfands. New Zealand,
NoNay, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Thailand, the UK, th8 USA and UkraSnel.
Thls year, we were able to 88cure significant sponsorship income from the event, with long-standing IWITOT
partners Astarita Aldrich and Ward (AAW) and founding partner Open Fundraislng joined by Social Sync,
Relum Fundralslng, Fundraiser Sarah (Sarah Goddard). Glve as you Llve. the Unlverslty of Kent, the
Direciory of Social Change, and Civil Sector Press. Our speakers covered topics across a range of
fundraislng dlsclpllnes {corporate fijndraislng. legacy fundraising, dlgital fundralslng, etc.) and we once again
featured "new voices" mentored by experienced volunteers.
SOFII website- gÈnéral
SOFII continually updates the website with new, high-quality content and has added case histories and
articles lo the site each month during 2024-25. apart from a 'summer' break in Augusl. This year we Were
pleased to have added a number of additional articles offering insights Into donor behaviour and supporter
experlence, always popular topics for our audl8nc6. In additlon, our users can learn from Ihe various wdeo
presentallons from I Wish I'd Thought of That- which are added to the SOFII YouTube channel. These are
also used as the basls to creats Co￿espOndIng case studles.
This year, we were gratefvl to hav8 been gifted the rlght to share ¢ontent from longstanding SOFII supportgr
John Lepp's Direct Mail dinics with our readers. The series first 8ppearad on the SOFII site in May 2025,
and we've been rolling out additional Glinics throughout 2025-26.
SOFII websltè- communlty
SOFII'S communlty ￿MaInS vit21 and thriving. We have Continued to Increase the number of subscribers to
our email newsletter, and as of the end of the financlal year, we had nearly 11.000 subscrlbers. To help us
reach even more fundraisers, SOFII continues to use email and social media to share and signpost the
websile's great content. Our communlty Is made up of eager fundralsers, ranglng from veterans to new faces
in the sector.
Fundraising- the SOFII One Hundred
The SOFII One Hundred is 8 Special community of fvndralsers supporting other fundraisers worldwde
through their regular gifts to SOFII. Having successfully launched the community in 2022-23, we were
pleased to see the community grow, both through the exceptional loyally of our existing supporters and the
addStlon of new supporters throughout the year. We are grateful lo each and every individual who chooses to
support SOFII.
8e¢tor ¢ollaboratlons
Building on the success of our 2023 collaboration, SOFII hosted a second free fundralslng hlstory weblnar In
May 2024 In partnershlp with Rogare and the Ch8rtered Institute of Fundralslng ICIOF). Thls year's webinar
explored th8 us6 of Images In fundraising throughout tsme, including thè impllcations of Al￿enerated Imag8S
In fundraSslng. The event proved highly popular, with capacity néédlng to be increased Iwice after selling 811
available tickets. The weblnar gave SOFII an opportunity to introduce our fundralslng archive to new
audiences, and we were pleased with the response from participants.
SOFII'S collaboralion with Legacy Futures on 'The Legacy Showcase,, a collection of short videos where
fundraisers share their favourite legacy campaigns and explain why they consider them worthy of admiration
by others, too, is ongoing, with a dedicated page on SOFII'S website promoling the legacy videos. Some
longer, more detailed case histories have been added to SOFII featuring Ihe videos and campaigns in the
showcase. and more videos and case histories will be added in due course.

Finally, as part of our ongolng efforts to grow our audience, SOFII reached out to a number of larger network
of fundraisers to Identlfy mutually beneficial opportunities for collaboration. One of these approaches. to
NHS Chari116s Together
the national federation for charities supporling Ihe NHS has led to a formal
collaboration agreement. resulting in SOFII supporting NHS Charltles Together to deliver a bespoke IWITOT
event at their national conference in May 2024. Building on the success of this ¢ollabor8tion, SOFII again
supported NHS Chariues Together to deliver an IWITOT sesslon at their 2025 conferen￿. SOFII was also
pleased to be invited to deliver another edition of IWITOT al the CIOF Convention in June 2025.
Governance review and truslee recrultment
Followng our formal governance review in 2023-24. the SOFII trustees decided to fomi a Finance and
Resources Committee. as well.. as an Audience Development Committee with a remit lo help SOFII reach
more fundr8isers around the wodd. During 2024-25, we recruited a number of fundraisers from around the
wodd (Canada. GetTnany. India, Spain, and the UK) who have volunteered lo seNe on the Audien
Development Committoe to help us better understand the needs of our audiences and to raise awareness of
SOFII.
We were also pleased to recrult a number of new trustees to replace longst8ndlng trustees (Craig Linton,
Meredith Niles, and Richard Turner) who were due lo retire after elght years of seNlce to SOFII. Our new
trustees come from BrazS1, India, Ireland and the Netherlands, and SOFII is now pleased to have a board that
Is primarily comprlsed of fundralsers basèd outside of tha UK, raflecting our global ambitions. Following the
retirement of trustee Meredith Niles, who had served as SOFII'S Chair since April 2021, SOFII Iruslee
Heather Lltlle was elecled SOFII'S new Chair.
Durfng 2024-25, our Company Secretary and Honorary Treasurer, David Carrington, announcad hls IntentSon to
retire from SOFII. David h8d previously served as a foundlng trustee of SOFII and has committed many years of
dedicated servlce to our charity,- his contributions have been Incredibly valuable, and he will be greally mlssed.
Following thSs announcement, the SOFII trustees conducted a tender exercAse for an exlemal bookk88per,
resulting in the appointment of FinanceBox, and began recruitment for a further new tNstee to serve as Honorary
Treasurer. That recruitment resulted in the appointment of Steven Gibson, who officially joined the board in July
2025. The SOFII trustees record their tremendous gratitude to David Carrington for his impact on the charity.

Flnanclal revlew
As always. SOFII continues to place a high priorlty on bulldlng sustalnable income streams. From new
projects to new partnerships and growlng a slable base of regular donors, we have worked hard on our
offering and stewardship. Our stewardship has been praSsed by donors and partners alike, SOFII could not
provlde any of its widely appreciated resources and seNlces to Ihe voluntary sector worldwide without the
generous financial support from many organlsatlons and Indlvldual friends.
SOFII'S partners in 2024-25 included Blackbaud, The Chartered Instiluts of Fundraising (CIOF), Open,
Agents of Good. and Fundraising Everywhere.
The charity also received support from other generous donors and organlsatlons around the world Includlng
Astarita, Aldrich and Ward (AAWI, Social Sync, Return Fundraising. Fundraiser Sarah (Sarah Goddard),
Glve as you Live, The Unlverslly of.Kent, Daryl Upsall Consulting International. Directory of Sodal Change
{DSC), The Management Cenlre, Reinier Fundraising. Roger Lawson (who each year Nns a Christmas quiz
donating the proceeds to SOFII), John Lepp, Meredith Niles, David Carrington, Jim Hillborn, Ken Bumett,
and more.
In 2024-25 SOFII also benefited from kind monthly gifis given by a growing number of individual supporters
from around the worfd. Many of these regular supporters joined The SOFII One Hundred thls year, and you

In 2024-25 SOFII'S éxpendlture lotalled £80,613 {2023-24.' £51,103). Ihcome In thè year totalled £74,538
(2023-24: £44,544}, a dofial of £6,075 {2023-24: £6,559). Free reseNes carried forward lo 202&26 lolalled
£46,777 (2024-25: £52,852). Although our income during the year was lower than our orfginal budget,
trustees were abl6 to carefully manage costs such that our deficit still leaves Ihe charfiy wlth a comfortable
level of reserves.
Fulure plans
SOFII'S users are at th8 heart of our mission, and we wtll remaln committed to contlnually addlng a wide
variety of new content - both case studies and artides. We 8re particularly keen to grow our international
readership and have mobilised our Audience Developm8nt Committee to h8lp with this objective. W& will do
our best to ensure these have results and are evidenced b8sed wherever possible, as w8 know this matters
to our read8rs. We are also committed to continuing to make the site 8asiar to navigate.
In order to ensure that we can contlnue to develop the site. SOFII will prioritise bulldlng sustalnable Income
streams. We will do this by building relationships with new corporate supporters, by contlnuing to grow our
SOFII One Hundred regular glvSng communlty, and by building on the success of recent years by growing
income from IWITOT, wlth a particular focu8 on increasing sponsorshlp and onllne ticket sales. We have
also developed new sponsorshlp packages, enabling SOFII to attract a wider range of corporate sponwrs.

The trustees have examln8d the requiremenl to hold alevel of unrestricted reserves to safeguard the day-to4ay
running of the SOFII Foundation and to provid8 undedying financial stablllly to prote¢t ils long-term programme
of activities. The charity aims to build ils reseNes to cover a year's worth of expen8e8.
Rlsk statement
The trustees ha$ assessed the major risks to which Ihe charity is exposed, and are s8ti8fied that systems are in
plaGe to mitigate exposure to the major risks. SOFII will be reviewing these systems in 2025-26 to ensure they
are up to date and effective.

SOFII Foundation is a company limited by guarantee incorporated Sn England and Wales. The ragist6red
office is 19 Chelsea Park Gardens, London, England, SW3 6AF.
1.1 Accountlng eonventlon
The financial statements have b8en prepared In accordance wlth the charlV8 govemlng document, the
Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities- Statement of Recommended Practice
applicable to charities preparing their accounts In accordance with Ihe Financi81 Reportlng Standard
applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" {as amended for accounting periods commencing
from 1 January 2016). The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The charity has lakon advantage of the provisions in Ihe SORP for charities applying FRS 102 Update Bullotln
1 nol to prepare a Statement of C8sh Flows.
The flnancial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetsry
amounts in these financial statements ar8 rounded lo the nearest £.
The financtal stalemenls have been prepared under the historical cost wnvention. The principal acGounting
polScles adopled are set out below.
1.2 Charitablè funds
Unrestrictèd funds are avallable for u88 at the discratlon of the b￿Stee$ in furtherance of Ihelr charitable
objectives.
1.3 Incomlng resources
Income is recognised on a receivable basis, in a¢cordance with the provisions of Slatement of Recognised
Practice- Accounting and Reportlng by Charities.
1.4 Resources expended
Resources expended are included in the Statements of Financial on an accruals basis, inclusive of any VAT
which cannol be recovered.
Charitable donalions comprise payments made to other charities in furtherance of the objects of this charfty-

1.5 Cash and cash equlvalents

Basic financial liabilities, including crédltors and bank loans are initially recognised at transacllon price unless
the arrangement constitutes a financlng Iransaclion, where the debt instrument Is measured al the present
value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilitles classified as payable
within one year are not amortised.
Debt in8lrum8nts are subsequently carrfed at amortlsed cosl, using the effectlve Interest rale method.
Trade creditors are obligatlons to pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course of
operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one
year or less. If not, they are presented as non-currenl liabilities. Trdde creditors are recognised initially at
transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest malhod.
Derecognltion of flnancial liabilltles
Financial liabilities are derecognlsèd when the charity's contractual obligations explre or are discharged or
canc£lled.
