King’s Chapel Apostolic Church Minutes of the Annual General Meeting

20[th] January 2024

Chairperson: Pastor Louis Farquharson

Attendees: Sis Emma, Melissa, Denise, Laverne, Sandra, Alice, Kemera, Verona (Joy), Frances, Anya, Cleoverne, Antoinette, Bro Gerald, John, Alexander, Montgomery, Jomal, Craig, El-Makawi.

Apologies: Sis Trecelle, Sis Evette

The Annual General Meeting was opened at 10:39am by our Pastor Louis Farquharson in prayer.

The meeting was called to order with housekeeping, rules of attendance and a reminder of the purpose of the AGM. Pastor Louis reminded us of the importance of attending the meeting and how late apologies are not acceptable.

Pastor then read our Missions statement.

All leaders are in an ‘acting’ role for the duration of the meeting.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Sis Melissa and taken as a true record.

Motion to accept the minutes:

Matters Arising from the minutes:

Sis Sandra stated that Anya was listed as absent, but then was also listed as accepting some of the motions of the report. This was not able to be resolved.

Bro Monty asked if “Mrs Louis Farquharson” on page 26 of the report is correct. (Nigeria’s report) Pastor responded that for them, yes. It is their terminology.

Bro Jomal asked what a miracle service is. Pastor responded that it is a service dedicated for baptisms, dedications etc.

Bro John asked what is Pastor’s take on some of the terms is associated with King’s Chapel Apostolic Churches in Nigeria e.g., Grace Chapel. Pastor responded that he does not mind the name being used locally, but if it was to be used on an international level, then either KCAC name needs to be removed or their local name.

Bro John also pointed out the familiarity of almost all the Nigerian churches have the same vision as the UK (24 Souls) Pastor explained that is because he has shared it with them, and it should be achievable for them.

Bro John also asked why some things had 2022 associated with them, whilst others had 2023. Pastor responded that it is because they were reporting on the year 2022 but forecasting 2023 also.

Sis Denise asked if we normally read all the reports in detail. Pastor said yes but in previous years not all the reports were handed in.

Sis Melissa took the chair and introduced Pastor Louis Farquharson to give the Pastors Report.

Pastor’s Report:

Pastor presented the Pastor’s report and will be available to read in the booklet.

Motion to accept the Report:

Accepted by Bro Alexander

Bro Craig asked about point number 5 of the vision mentioning men, but not referring to a men’s department, and if there is a reasoning behind this. Pastor responded that the men’s department has not existed for several years and only recently have the men come together again.

Bro John asked if there is a reason 24 souls have not been added to the vision this year. Pastor said that the 24 souls is still our objective. In 2023, we’ve had only 2 receive the Holy Ghost and only 1 person being baptised. We have shown by our actions the things we want to pursue, and do not pursue the things we need to.

Bro Mack asked if there’s a requirement for a department to be created. Pastor responded that it must be in-line with the church vision or else the vision will not be achieved.

Everyone is given a chance to ask questions, and everyone is given a voice. We are free to ask questions and get involved. We don’t value what we have. If we do not open our voices and get involved, we should not speak on these things later.

Sis Sandra asked if we could raise the price of Sunday school books to increase funds. Pastor responded that the biggest cost is the shipping, and that the biggest problem we have is that people just do not pay towards their Sunday school books.

Sis Joy addressed the amount of church rent presented and mentioned that it was a large sum that could be going towards our own building.

Bro Monty suggested that people pay in advance of their Sunday school books prior to ordering, to avoid chasing after people. Pastor responded that unless people make proactive choices i.e., standing orders, they will not do it. (Based on previous attempts)

Bro John asked if we had our own place, is our income going to be enough to cover payments? Pastor said we won’t know as it is based on various factors such as our deposit, our mortgage interest rate etc.

Sis Denise mentioned that £7500 is a big sum towards church rent and is like a mortgage payment. Sis Melissa also reported that the figure quoted for Church rent expenditure for 2023 is higher than what was invoiced. The actual figure in total is around £9000.

Sis Emma asked if we could come together as a church and support in transporting church equipment instead of paying a sum towards hiring a car for one day (Sunday) to transport church equipment. Pastor responded that KCAC is no longer as supportive and agreed on “all things common” to support in actions like this.

Bro John also highlighted that some people are not aware of the situation and suggested messages to be posted in the church group chat. Pastor responded that

messages are sent, but often are ignored.

Bro Gerald said that what Emma suggested is sometimes not feasible because if individuals are late, we are not able to start. Pastor responded that it is more about what people should be doing as opposed to what they are doing.

Sis Melissa addressed to the church the importance of giving financially. Whenever the church cannot afford payments, money must be withdrawn from the building fund account, affecting the balance of it.

Sis Denise asking if it’s worth a review the necessity of Yell, as it equivalates to around £100 a month. Pastor responded that he has already enquired about changes, and it will cost more than what we are currently paying. Pastor also stated that we do not live as if we are the church and are not prepared to commit to anything. Some things need ongoing care and Pastor cannot rely on individuals. We think short-term.

Sis Emma asked if children should be attending Ladies and Men’s meeting. Pastor responded that generally, no. However, it’s also dependant on the agenda of the meeting.

Outreach Department

Bro Gerald presented the Outreach department report and will be available in the booklet.

Bro Gerald mentioned the very lack of attendance from church members. It is very sporadic, and majority of members only come around the times of a crusade or

when planned by each department.

New Officers (Appointment/Voting)

All posts are for one year and will be up for election 2024-2025.

The tabulating team for collating the votes will be Jomal, Kemera, Mack and Hannah. Instead of voting names for who should be elected to the roles, voting was casted as for or against the candidate Pastor Louis presented to the church.
