Trustees Annual Report for 2024
Governance
During 2024, there have been no changes to the trustees. There have been five trustee meetings
attended by all trustees and trustee training from Synergy and Charity Commission.
Church membership at 31.12.24 was 19, with one new member joining and three leaving in the year..
The numbers of people In the church family is c 30 with another 40 or so who engage with us at regular
church activities. Sunday attendance is around 20 and midweek groups around 20, an increase on past
years.
Three members, meetings have been held and all been quorate. The members and others in the church
family volunteer in the church's ministry and there are 20 regular volunteers.
One of our church leaders, Cheryl Cross, stepped down from her role in April 2024, Rob Cross continues
as a bi-vocational office holder on a part-time stipend.
Policies for safeguarding, financial protocol, data protection, equal opportunities, DBS processing,
rehabilitation of offenders, discipline, grievance and a code of conduct remain in place and have been
reviewed.
Refresher safeguarding training for those working with children and vulnerable adults was carried out in
September. We are members of Christian Safeguarding Services who give advice on policies and
safeguarding matters. Our safer recruitment procedure has been strengthened.
Minist
Weekly Sunday morning services and monthly evening services have continued. We have followed
series, on the pattern of Sabbath, Book of James, Book of Ruth, the Bible Course We held a baptism
service in July.
We have celebrated seasonal events in the church year and welcomed guest speakers from Tearfund,
Evangelical Alliance, Synergy and Urban Saints along with preachers from other churches.
Mid-week meetings have taken place in church and in homes for Bible study, prayer and fellowship.
Weekly prayer meetings have continued on zoom. The weekly youth drop in, TNT, has continued and
schools visits have been made. Teams are in place to support pastoral, teaching and prayer ministries.
Our community activities have welcomed in over 100 people throughout the year.
Come to coffee took place midweek through the year on eight occasions and the Family nights on five
occasions. Prayer vigils were held after the Southport killings and 7 October anniversary of Gaza conflict.
9 Church meals, a passover gathering and men's meal have been hosted.
Overseas.. We support the work of church members working with CMS in Thailand.
We continue our Commitment to Fairtrade and are registered as a Fairtrade Church. We continue to be
an Open Doors partner church and have supported Tearfund financially. Tearfund Quiz night was held in
November raising over £500. The church continues to support, financially and prayerfully, the work of
Good News Family Care.
We remain affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance and are part of the Synergy group of churches.

The church has continued to take an active part in Whaley Bridge Churches Together with events like
week of prayer for Christian Unity, Lent groups, Good Friday worship, joint seNices, Carnival, Holiday
Clubs, harvest Sing, Remembrance and Christmas events.
We have seen growth and new opportunities in the journey of faith together".-
A new book group meeting,
2 walks on the Hope pilgrimage - reflecting in creation, and a Christian Aid walk.
New Prayer team formed and we joined a zoom prayer focus for the persecuted church.
Hosting a 4 week CAP money course for group of up to 11
New 2 quiet mornings with over 20 at each spending longer in God's word with times of reflection and
response.
Buildin
Following building work at the end of 2023, much of 2024 was spent getting things in order in the building
including minor improvements and painting.
In February we were joined by supporters and representatives from the community for the dedication of
the extension work
Building health and safety requirements have been complied with.
Finance
Monthly reports have been provided to the Trustees. The annual accounts and aa four monthly update
are circulated to members. Discussions have taken place at members, meetings to review large
expenditure and financial controls are in place for authorising of expenditure. Ring-fenced funds are in
place and grant applications were submitted for various projects. An independent examination of 2024
accounts will be carried out.
Summa
In line with our basis of faith the church continues as a family with a varied programme of activities and
regular Bible based teaching, worship, fellowship, prayer and pastoral support. Our vision statement
remains God's People.. Reaching Up, Reaching In, Reaching Out. Various ministry has taken place for
children, families, men's and women's work and the wider community over the year.
Charitable Ob"ectives
Our charitable objectives (see below) have been fulfilled through the different activities, outreach,
fundraisinglgiving and pastoral care which have taken place throughout the year.
Extract from GNC Constitution
The objects of the Church shall be:
(i) The advancement of Christianity by the proclamation and furtherance of the Good News of God
concerning His Son Jesus Christ the Lord and the preaching and teaching of the Word of God by the
Church in accordance with the Basis of Faith and Statement of Purpose of Good News Church
(li) The advancement of education in a Christian context.
(iii) The development of children of all ages by providing for the needs of such children through
community groups in a Christian context.
(iv) Such other charitable purposes as shall further the attainment of the above objects of the Church.
(v) The furtherance of other charitable work of the worldwide Christian Community.
{vi) The furtherance of Christian Unity locally, nationally and internationally provided that such unity is
consistent with the Statement
