Activities

Manchester People First is a self advocacy service for learning disabled adults based in Manchester. We provide services to our members to promote speaking up, rights and choices and we also offer an accessible information service. We also work with carers, professionals and statutory organistions to raise awareness of Learning Disabled issues and host volunteer and student placements.

Objects: To Relieve The Needs Of People With Learning Difficulties In Greater Manchester And Surrounding Areas, In Particular But Not Exclusively The City Of Manchester, By1) The Relief And Support Of Such People Through The Provision Of Services Which Will Enable Them To Obtain Their Full Rights And Privileges As Citizens.2) Supporting And Encouraging Self And Group Advocacy Through The Provision Of Advice, Information, Assistance And Training;3) To Advance The Education And Training Of The Public, Professionals And Carers About The Needs, Skills And Interests Of People Who Have Learning Difficulties To Enable People With Learning Difficulties To Achieve Full Participation In Community.
