The charity is managed by Managing trustee Angela Robinson. At the 

current time there are no paid staff and no admin or management 

- volunteers. There are a small number of volunteers who help to raise 

- funds for the charity. 

- The charity works closely with the Egyptian registered charity Animal 

- Welfare of Luxor, registered in Luxor as charity No 7. 

- The major risk to AWOL’s work in Luxor is the continued unstable financial 

- state of the country and the threat of terror activities. AWOL has addressed this issue by ensuring there is 6 months contingency at all 

- times and by making sure that procedures are in place that ensure funds 

- can reach the country should there be any issues with travel or security in 

Egypt.

To provide veterinary care, free treatment and tack for the animals in

The charity provides free veterinary care for all animals in Egypt. The majority of treatment is for working donkeys and dogs but includes any other animals belonging to the people of the impoverished rural areas in Luxor, Egypt. The charity also provides free soft tack, dog collars and horse/donkey blankets. AWOL relies entirely on volunteers to raise the funds for the work in 

Egypt. The charity does not have any paid staff and is managed by the unpaid Managing Trustee. AWOL works closely with its partner charity in Luxor (Luxor reg. No 7)

AWOL continued to provide essential veterinary treatment to **Summary of the main** hundreds of **achievements of the** animals throughout the year. Hundreds of soft head collars have **charity during the year** been fitted to working donkeys along with soft breaching straps, back cushions and winter coats. All tack is made at the AWOL centre using locally sourced products. The charity also makes soft dog collars and has supplied many hundreds of these, along with leads, to local dogs. 

AWOL was pleased to be able to take on a second vet in Luxor at the beginning of the year. Further training was arranged in Cairo specifically in spay and neuter techniques. The charity’s first vet also underwent further training in ‘Surgical Operation of Pet Animals’ and ‘Medicine 

and Infectious Diseases in Pet Animals’. AWOL is keen to address the problem of unwanted street dogs by offering free spay and neutering. Street dogs are often treated cruelly and even poisoned so the aim is to reduce the number of puppies born to a life of hardship and cruelty. 

A team of vets from the Animal Medical Centre in Cairo were welcomed at the AWOL centre in November to carry out a spay/neuter program. The charity also benefitted from a donation of 100 Pfizer rabies vaccinations which the Cairo team brought with them. 

A new disinfectant and sterilisation spray unit was purchased to sterilise the AWOL medical centre on a daily basis. 

Due to Covid-19 restrictions fund-raising events were not possible but online and Facebook fundraising continued thanks to our supporters.

The charity aims to keep reserves equal to a minimum of 6 months usual 

expenditure at all times. At 2020 exchange rates this equated to a sum of 

£12000. The charity does not receive sufficient funds on a monthly basis 

to cover the cost of providing its services so this contingency is essential.

Act 1993 (the Actll and that an independent examination is needed.

To follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the
Charity Commission (under section 4317llbl of the Act),. and
To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basls of Independent examlner's statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directors 8iven by the
Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records
kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It
is also includes consideration of any unusual items or dlsclosures In the accounts,
and seeking explanatlons from the trustees concerning any such matters. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an
audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
