St John's Pre-school Nurs¢rv is a comrnunitv nurserv which in Sept 2(X)7 at what was then Newland St John's C.E. Prillwy sdxK)l in Hull. (now Newlanli SL Jolm's C.E Academy) a thriving church school With strong links to local community and PTish churclL The Dutsery works to dcliv¢r excellent pre-sch(K)l education in line with nats'onal requirements and the ￿hOol'S Christian aims and ethos for the benefit of local par¢nts and children. The Ntllsery is by a Board of Tntstees who are either members of the community or parents of the school. Tn￿teeS are all over 21, have ex￿]enCe of working with Childr￿ aDd some hold teaching qualifications. Trustes are aptK)inted in consultation with the ParOc￿.al Church Council of St John Newland. 05106r2022 Our management strneture is as follows: The Tn￿te¢S work clos¢ly with the Staff. The Trustees meel every 2 months and the Manager is invited to att¢nd and submit a f¢FX)rt. The TTUStees keep a Calendar of business to be covered throughout the year. including a review of all the Nursery ￿)I)c]eS on a 2-year cycle. The Safegwding Policy and all Safeguarding procedures are reviewed amiually. The Tn￿teeS also have an annual Admissions Meeting to review the applications for the Nursery and make the decisions on intake of children when the Nursery is over subscriw in accordance with our AdtDissions Policy. offii enclosed oUtd￿r play At the tlme of this re]K)rting period (Sept 2020- August 2021) the nurgery was open for 5 full days weekly. 8:50am-15..3o￿￿. A maximum of 24 children aged betw¢en three and five yeaTS attend the nursery at any one time. The Op￿rtUnIty to benefit from the nursery is not restricted by cbarging a fee to attend. W¢ re¢¢Rve Early EdurAtion Funding. allowing children a free funded place the temi after they tum three. A child may. however. take up a plac¢ as s￿￿ as heJsh¢ has turned three at a minimal cos¢ if the went 50 desires. We have systems in place to suptM)rt children with learning difficulties an￿or disabilities and also for those children who speak Engllsh as an additional language. Staff work and sh￿C infoTmation with from other settRngs and receiv¢ guidancc from the Local Authority Advisors. We employed five members of staff. all of whom hold a relevath childcare qualification. Our and Deputy both hold qualified teacher status. We also employed two Assistants to work with Children with S￿la1 needs during tkn's re￿)rtIng ￿]{mI. We are registered by Ofsted on the Early YeaTS Register. 3. Financial review: We do have a reserves ￿l1¢y. We have a cutrent account usually with a tloat of £2.000. Any excess ts transferred to our savings account and is used up in the medlum tern) for stsff wages and resources. We do not have a &ficit of funds. Trustees give of their time fre£ly, however during the retx)rting ￿riod in accordance with Charity Commission guIdaT￿e. one of the Tn￿te¢S who took on (WSiODaJ reS￿￿$1b11lt1eS for staff absenLY, 0510612022 received remuneration. Provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment for every child who attends the Nursery whatever their race, culture. religi(m. means or ability" Work in partnership wtth parents to enhan￿ their child's learning eN￿rie￿e in the nursery and at home" Ensure use of funding for the benefit of the children These aims ar¢ achi¢v¢d by following the Early Yeats Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and providing planned learning adivities lo help the ckn'ldren progress towwds achieving the Early L¢arning Goals in line with the principles and practice described in the EYFS curriculum. We also introduce ChrÈstian valu¢s as part of th¢ curriculum when appropriate. This provides a broad and balanced range of opportunities for our young children lo learn through play, and to preFore them for ￿h0o1 life. We have a Strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our children as shown in our Safcwuarding policy. We work very closely with the parents and other family members and have excellent relalionships ith them. Th¢y lll'ghly value the nursery education their Ch￿d￿ are receiving. as ¢videnced by the onun¢Dts on thc Parent Comment Sheets in the children's files and our latest Ofsted report. 2. Achievements and performxB Dwing the tim¢ of this r¢tM)rt {Sept 2020- Au8USt 2021), the Nursery has been running very ￿SitiVe]y. There is a friendly. family-likc atmosphere with strong. ￿sItive relationslll'ps between the childT¢n. parents. Staff and TnLSt¢¢s. The clu'ldr¢n have a wide variety of activities to choose from both indoors and outdoors. The children were taken on visits to local places of interesL such as the Oak Road ParK Mrs Tinker's Garden and St. John's Church. The Nursery also pmvided op￿rtunItieS for Forest School activities. W¢ ar¢ in¢lusiv¢ of all childr¢n and families. Hull has an increasingly th'verse ￿pulatiOn which 15 r¢flectcd in th¢ background of the clu'ldren who attend the Nursery. We extend our understanding of others by a range of artivities relating to other cuhures. We also welcome and Sllp￿)rt children with 0510612022 Special Educational Needs and their carers. Parents are very involved in their child's education. They come into the llu￿ery room twice a day and are invited to Stay and Play sessions and parent teacher consultation evenings. Parents help in the nuTs¢ry in a number of ways, such as supervising children on trips and s￿nsOred events. Since March 2020 we have followed Covid-19 restrictions and children are welcomed at the door. Liaison with patents is undcrtak¢n outside or via telephone or z(x)m calls" transttion m¢¢tings took place in the nuTS¢ry gard¢n. W¢ r¢ttived a 'satisfactory' outcome from our Ofsted inst*rtion in July 08. and th¢n a 'good' outcome frnm our ins￿li0n in June 09. In April 2014, we received an 'outstsnding' outC4)me from Ofsted.
