`Chairman’s report 2022`

It has been a difficult year, a difficult couple of years in fact, mainly
due to Covid and we have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep CDSSG
running and providing help, support and advice as well as social events as
much as it would allow.

I would like to thank the committee who have supported me as I took on the
role of chairman and thank those members who have left during that time.
We have a new volunteer treasurer from outside of CDSSG and a new

co-ordinator who have both settled into their roles.

I would like to thank them, along with our dance co-ordinator for their
hard work.

We currently have a number of vacancies on the committee and we would
encourage more people to join us. We are looking at our constitution to
enable adults with Down Syndrome to be part of the trustee team.
Covid of course also impacted on fundraising, but I would like to thank
those who donated to us - detailed in the treasurer’s report, which
includes a member running two half marathons - no mean feat.

We have run carer’s events, delivered thanks to grant funding. The rest of
the events are being planned for the next few months.

I look forward to an exciting year ahead. We are hopeful the weekend away
will return this October, with more Makaton and SALT sessions planned
along with other activities which will be announced in due course.
Members who have ideas, suggestions or want to get involved should get in
touch as we welcome input about youth activities, social events, support
sessions, etc. If any members would like to volunteer time without being a
trustee on the committee that would also be welcomed.
