## **Trustees’ Annual Report for MySmallHelp for the year ended 31 March 2023 UK registered charity number: 1123830** ## **Section A: Reference and Administration Details** The charity’s principal address during the year was: 6 Sandown Avenue Esher Surrey KT10 9NT United Kingdom The Trustees that managed the charity during the year were Josh Stamp, Lee Forsyth, Alistair Williams, Kim Karmozyn and Leander Hollings. Selection to the Board of Trustees is through election by serving Trustees. The charity is a trust governed by a trust deed. Deborah Priestley was appointed as an additional Trustee on 16 March 2023, recognising her valuable contribution as a committed volunteer for the charity. The Trustees met regularly through the year to review progress against the charity’s stated objectives and would particularly like to thank Raju, Binod, and Pramila for all their hard work, making this, once again, a very successful year to report on. ## **Section B: Structure, governance and management** MySmallHelp is a UK registered charity primarily set up as a fundraising arm to support partner projects overseas. During the period 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 funds were only sent to MySmallHelp Nepal, a separate legal entity from MySmallHelp in the UK, which is independent and has its own local governance and control structures. During the year an opportunity to support the work of Fundasevi charity in Panama was identified. Fundasevi undertakes some excellent work assisting under-privileged families in Panama. No funds were sent during the financial year, although a donation of £4,000 was received for this cause. ## **Section C: Objectives and activities** ## **C1 Objectives** During the year the objects of the charity were unchanged: - To assist children, young adults and families who are living in conditions of poverty, sickness and distress anywhere in the world in such ways that the Trustees from time to time see fit. - To advance the education of underprivileged children at selected schools in Nepal, Mexico and Peru, providing sponsorship of school fees, educational materials, school uniforms and provision of extra-curriculum educational courses In planning the charity’s activities, we kept in mind the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit. The main focus of activity during this period was to find sponsors for individual children in Nepal to provide access to education for children who otherwise would not be able to go to school. Section D covers achievements and performance in more detail. MySmallHelp Trustees’ Report for the year ended 31 March 2023 Page 1 ## **Section D: Achievements and Performance** ## **D1 MySmallHelp Nepal** ## **Child Educational Sponsorship Project** Child educational sponsorship has been a key project since the MySmallHelp, Nepal was set up. We have been supporting and sponsoring children from different background who are especially poor, single parent and orphans. This year we have around 25 children who are sponsored for education. These children age range from 6 years to 28 years. Out of 25 children, 19 of them are girls and 6 are boys. Hanna has recently completed her 3 years Bachelor’s in Theology,
Karala, India and returned back to Nepal. She is currently teaching
at Marybert School for Grade 1 to 6. She is also taking Dance
Class. MySmallHelp has been supporting for her dance class and
also helping her in her accommodation.
Sushmita
Educational Support Year: Since 2007
Sushmita is in 3 [rd] year of her Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities in
Sanjibani Campus. It is of 4 years course.

He is currently studying Japanese Language to study and work in Japan. She was the first child that My Small Help supported. She was in Grade 6 when My Small Help started supporting. She completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Ganpat University, Gujarat, India. Currently she is working as Project Development Officer in an NGO. MySmallHelp Trustees’ Report for the year ended 31 March 2023 Page 6 ## **Bipana working as an Optometrist in India after completing her studies.** Bipana has been with us since 2011. Bipana completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry from Christian University, Bangalore, India. Currently working as an Optometrist in India. ## **Completing the semi-finished school building in rural part of Nepal** Shree Jay Durge Dalit Basic School is located around 160km from Kathmandu near a city called Birjung. The nearby community around the school is home to eighty families with over 100 children coming to study from different places. Families living in the community are mostly socalled Dalits (untouchables) or other neglected communities. Their livelihood is dependent on agriculture and livestock, a lifestyle that has been passed down the generations. The aim of MSH’s project in Birjung is to improve a government school that wasn’t properly finished when initially constructed. This left a school in a poor state that was barely adequate for even basic education. The school lacks wall boundary, toilet and water resources. MySmallHelp, Nepal successfully completed the semi-finished school building in rural part of Nepal. 1 storied building has 2 large classroom which can accommodate 30 children in each class. The building was half completed with brick walls and pillars. It needed covering the roof, plastering the walls, putting up doors and windows, electricity and finally painting the building. MySmallHelp, UK and Australia helped in raising funds to complete the building. The distributed bags are convertible to table to study and carry books which is very handy mostly in the rural parts where they lack table and chairs to study. The team member demonstrated the process of using bags. ## **Christmas treat for the children living at the Marybert children homes** My Small Help has been an integral part of Marybert School and Homes. Marybert children home has adopted 10 children from various part of Nepal who come from the extreme poverty and some without families. My Small Help has been supporting Marybert children for their food and education since 2007. My Small Help also supporting children for their higher education. MySmallHelp, Nepal celebrates Christmas with the children living at Marybert Children Homes each year. This year too, MSH Nepal celebrated children by providing gifts, cutting cakes with music and dance. There are all together 12 children (11 girls and 1 boy) living at the homes. Each children got warm jacket, sports shoes along with school black shoes for 6 children, White shoes for 4 children and much needed school stationaries. My Small Help’s past volunteer Aaron from UK and her sister Charlotte helped in raising funds for the children of Marybert. There are 1 washing room, 2 toilet blocks for girls, and 1 large one with commod for boys. The condition of the block was very bad which needed renovation. We helped to in renovating all the toilet block with 4 water basins for washing. Expenditure is based on an appeals system through which funds are channelled directly to the point of need. Based on this background, the reserve policy is to make sure that total cash balances do not fall below £1,000 at any one time to ensure that MySmallHelp UK continues to meet the needs of beneficiaries. At the financial year end, MySmallHelp UK had total cash reserves of £11,565, which was allocated to the General fund (£854), support for MySmallHelp Nepal (£6,711), and funds for Fundasevi Panama (£4,000). ## **E2 Financial statement review** During the year, MySmallHelp UK collected total donations and other income of £32,083 an increase of £2,378 compared to the previous year. These amounts included an initial donation for Fundasevi Panama of £4,000, donations for school construction in Nepal of £3,772 and contributions to the general fund of the charity of £193. Contributions received by the charity are allocated to the general fund when a donor does not dedicate the donation to a particular fund. Reflecting the charity’s success in raising funds this year and in previous years, donations of £31,699 were made to MySmallHelp Nepal. Operational costs for the year were £407, including accounting costs of £156 and Just Giving charges of £216. ## **E3 Financial controls** During the year, the Trustees reviewed internal controls and financial reporting and concluded that these controls were operating effectively, given the operational limitations that apply to smaller charitable organisations. ## **Section F: Other Optional Information** Nothing to report. ## **Section G: Declaration** The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees’ Report above and authorised signature of the report as shown below.
