Without doubt the most notable point of this Seas￿ was the Fwsonal announc8m8nt in January by
our MusKal ￿'TeCtor, Dr. Andrew P￿rnOre. that after 34 years at the hdm he had decided the time
was now right to retire from his pxrtion as of June 2023 and that therefore n&xt season will be his last
with us.
Words fail to say just how much Andrew means to us as a ch(ir and mwh he has done in
develoyng the YPC over that perThl lo the PreM￿r ch(xr of today.
q a choir I guess we all knew sorneday that announ¢•r£nt would ineviiabty comè, however, it is no
less sad when it does. It herabjs the start of a per*Jd of tremendous change in the life of the YPC.
especially as, in June, Tcm Mor￿, our acL7)mpani%t for rm than 20 years, announ¢ed he would
also be leaving us to tske up hLS new F(tsitK>n as DIr￿tOr of Music at SL Matththvs, Northampton
from 1 September.
Andrew and Tom's musical partnership and leadership of YPC ha$ been the foUndat￿)n on wh￿h
music81 standards and excelknce in perforrnan¢e has been bu1￿. To lose both so quickly wll be
very real challenge. however, it is one detemired to the aHffidence and optimism.
Next season is the thoirf$ Platinum JUbl￿e. 70 years of sirrfJmg. As we look t*k and celebrate the
