People have come lo Pilsdon from o range of backgrounds and with a variety of support needs, some of which are enduring and complex in nalure. Over Ihe last year we have seen o morked increase in the complexity and level of need experienced by people coming to our door. Without doubt Ihe increase5 in Ihe cost of living, difficulties accessing good offordoble housing and the challenges in accessing ongoing health core wdl be having a delrimentol impact on many. but for people who ore olreody slnJggling lh8 affects con be much more profound. Faith and the doily rhythm of life Ihrough proyer, working and eating together. and commitment and dedication of Community Members. provides o solid fOunli0n and thè breathing space in which Ihey begin the process of heoling and gelting back on their leel. Guest numbers inevilably nucluole throughout the year. We hove seen o number of Guesls successfully move on through planned moves into permonenl independent occommodotion. however Ihe process of re-lelting vacont rooms con toke time. Although Community Members are making sterting efforts to increase occuponcy levels, by ensurlng thot relevont ogencies are oware of whol we do and how we con help. we recognise thot for mony people. life in Commvnity will not be whol they hod hoped for or sviloble for their particular needs and Ihose of the Community as o whole. Although we ore slill able to live within our meons. we have become more dependent on Ihe kindness ond generosity ot those making donalions to fund a nvmber of more expensive works, inclvding the Inslallotlon of o fire delection and alarm system ond olso the repow of the crumbling render on Ihe Chapel walls. We are fortunate thol once ogoin the garden hos provided u5 Wlth a bumper crop. especiolw of apples and plums. We ore exploring mofe environmenlolly sovnd opprooches to food produclion in the hope that we con further improve yield, whilsl prolecling Ihe soil. As o resull of Avion flv. the ducks ond hens hove had to be enclosed for much of the year. which has proven to be o challenge. The sheep continue to thrive ond we have had Iwo pigs ome to stoy. We hove olso seen the arrivol ol Willow the kitten, she continues lo provide much joy to Community Members and Guesls alike. We continue to receive donalions for the food bank, wilh an astonishing omovnt given ol haNesl festwal time. This provide5 o much-needed resource for many people living in the surrounding community.
