The Mead Social Club also uses our premises and is an anchor tenant of the. We also act as an evacuation point for the Busy Bees Nursery which is located next to the Centre. Paxcroft Mead Community Centre Trustees report for April 2023 to March 2024 ## **SECTION D ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCES.** These were covered by the Chairman's annual report, which is reproduced below: - ## **CHAIRMAN'S ANNUAL REPORT - APRIL 2023 to MARCH 2024.** We have had another good year at the Community Centre, maintaining a variety of regular users, party, and commercial bookings. Our occupancy rate remains at good levels with several new regular hirers having started in recent months. We have continued to attract hirers from all over Trowbridge as well as from the surrounding towns in part due to the recommendation of the various activity providers such as About-a-Bounce, Bouncearoo and Active Trowbridge etc. The Community Centre continues to operate on a very sound economic footing. We continue to keep our hire rates low. We managed to keep our rates at the same level throughout the year. Where we can, we have negotiated deals for our gas and electricity supplies which have helped to get through this period of inflation. Our energy deal expires later this year so we may have to increase hire charges in April 2025 if another deal cannot be struck. We are also grateful to Wiltshire Council for continuing to give us maximum relief on the business rates. Work continues to keep the building condition in good order. The Committee manages many of the small maintenance items, but professional tradesmen are employed when needed. One sad piece of news was the death of Alan Thirlwell in August 2023. He was one of the original members of the PMCC Management Committee having served for over 20 years. He was quite a character, with a passion for flying. He is much missed. A suitable memorial will be installed at the Centre in due course. I would like to record a big thank you to the members of the committee who have assisted with running the building and managing the booking meet and greets. I would particularly like to thank all the officers for their time and effort over the past year. We are fortunate to have such a strong team of volunteers willing to put in the time and effort to run the Centre so smoothly. We are grateful to Tish McCall who joined us as a new committee member, but we are still under strength and would welcome some more volunteers. Jonathan Hawkes. Two major items have been repairs to the roof and the replacement of the lighting in the small hall.
