To provide educational, sporting, leisure and arts activities for yOLtng people in the London Borough of
Tower Hamlets. and to advance their education, health and wellbeing. To relieve poverty and distress
among such young people through the provision of advice, guidance and counselling.

The Trustees of SHAHJALAL CENTRE present their report together with the financial staternents for the year
ended 3151 March 2025
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
During the year under review, the charity's principal activities comprised the delivery of not-for-profit educational
programmes, advice and guidan￿ servI￿s, and community-based support initiatives. These activities were
undertaken to support young people and the wider community. promote education and wellbeing, and address
issues of poverty and social disadvantage.

RISK MANAGEMENT
The Board reviewed the principal areas of the Charity's operations and considered the major risks that may arise
within each area. In the opinion of the Trustees, the Charity has established appropriate controls, resources and
review systems which, under normal operaling conditions, enable the identified risks to be managed and
mitigated lo an acceptable level in the course of its day-to-day aclivits'es.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
In 2025, the Board have carried out a detailed review of Ihe charitable activities and produced a comprehensive
strategic plan of the charity. The strong results for this year have demonstrated the value of the practice of
monitoring progress against strategic plan.
STATEMENTS OF TRUSTEES RESPONSIBLITES
The Trustees are required by law lo prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair
view of the charity and of the resulls for that period. In preparing those financial statements. Ihe directors are
required to..
Selecl suitable accounting policies, and then apply them consistently.
Make a judgement and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.
Prepare financial statemenls on the going concern basis. Unless it is inappropriate to presume that the
trustee will continue ils operations.
Select applicable accounting standards, policies and then apply them consislently.
The tnjstees are responsible for keeping proper acLounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy al
any time, Ihe financial position of thè charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply
with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for
taking reasonable steps for Ihe prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
INDEPENDENT EXAMINER
The Independent Examiner, Consilium International have indicated their willingness to be proposed for re-
appoinlmenl.

The financial slalements laid out in this report have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in
accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice, Accounting and Reporting by the Charities
Commission issue in April 2015 and applicable Accounting Standards and Charities Act 2011.
RESPONS181LITIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER
The charity's Iruslees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an
audit is not required for this year (under section 43 {21 of the Charities Act 1993) and that an independent
examination is needed.

BASIS ON INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT
The examination of the accounts was carried out in accordance with general dir8Ction given by the Charities
Commissioner. The examination includes..
A review of the accounting records kept by the Charity.
A comparison of the accounts presented with those records made available.

preparation of the financial stalemenls, and of whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the charity's
circumstances consistently applied and adequately disclosed The procedures undertaken do not provide all the
evidence Ihal would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the view
given by the accounts.
INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT
During the course of our examination, no matter has come to our attention..
Vvhich gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the trustees have not mel the
requirements
to ensure that proper accounting records are kept {in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 act) and
to prepared with which agree with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements
of the act.,
To which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order lo enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached and to cause us to believe that the accounts do not accord with the records.
OPINION
In our opinion the financial statement as prepared give a true and fair view of the charity's stsle of affairs as at
31st March,2025 and of its incoming resources and their application in the year ended have been properly
prepared with general direction given by the Charities Commissioner.

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of Preparation..
The finanual slatements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2011. the Charities SORP {FRS
102) Accounting and Reporting by Charities, and the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) The charity is a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102, and Ihe financial
statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
Fund A¢¢ounting'.
The charity maintains restricted funds, which are subject to specific restrictions imposed by donors or funders, and
unrestricted funds. which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the charity's
objects'ves
Income Recognition:
Income is recognised when the charity has entitlement lo the funds, il is probable that the income will be received,
and the amount can be measured reliably. Donations and grants are recognised when the charity becomes entitled
to the income. Restricted income is recognised when receivable and applied in accordance with donor restrictions.
Gift Aid and other recoverable taxes are included when the related income is receivable.
Expenditure Recognition:
Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis and is allocated be￿een direct charitable expenditure and
administrative expenditure, as appropriale. Charitable expenditure includes costs incurred directly in the pursuit of
the charity's objectives, together with an appropriate allocation of support costs.
Tangible Fixed Assets:
Tangible fixed assets are capitalised if their cost exceeds £500 and are stated al cost less accumulated
depfeoation. Depreciation is provided on the following basis over the expected useful economic life of the assets.

Buildings.. not depreciated as the trustees consider they have an indefinite useful economic life
Fixtur8s and fittings. 20°/0 per annum on the reducing balance basis
Debtor5 and Creditors..
Debtors are recognised at the settlemenl amount due. Prepayments are included where payments relate to future
periods. Creditors are recognised when the charity has a present obligation lo pay and Ihe amount can be
measured reliably
Going Concern:
The trustees have assessed the charity's ability to continue as a going concern, taking into account forecasts and
available Tesources, and are satisfied that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence
for the foreseeable future.
