Volunteers are integr31 to the hosplce and charity, enh8nclng the care and sUPPOrt we provide through thÈir time, compasslon
ènd dedication. They play a vital role across fundralsing and wider servlces. To strengthen volunteer support, we introducÈd a
dedicited Volunteer Manager iole, which has already led to increèsÈd recruitment and stronger engagement with long-
standing volunteÈrs. Our future strategy focu5es on growing and strengthening this vital resource to 5UPPOrt both Income
generation and operational development 3cross the Drganisation.
The charity and the hospice is fortunate to have a dedicatÈd teatn ol around 200 actlve volunteers in a rangÈ of essential roles.
They support fundrai5in& help in the hospice day unit and work with the complementary therapies teèm. In Bddition, they give
bere8vetnent 5UPPOrt, dellver the essential communSty tomp3nion servite and work in the beautiful h05pice gardens. This
5UPPOrt equates to approximately 600 hours per week saving the hospice 3n e5tim8ted £395,000 per year.
Frnancial Review
The results for thÈ ye3r are shown In the Statement of Flnantial Activitie5. The net 5UTpIus lor the year before gains on
investmÈnts was £469,100. Our day to day fundraising activitie5 were broadly Inline with budgets, and our over311 income was
bolstered by a very good levÈl of legècy income, whlch cannot be expected or relied vpon year on year.
The grant to Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust to fund hospice services in 2025126 was £1.6M12024125 £1.3MI. The charity also
provided £36,799 to the hospice for non-clinical eKpenses Inrluding staff and volunteer training and patlont tomlort5. Included
within the É1.6M grant, the tharity supported the Hospice Education Role, the Bereavement Support Role, 3nd the fin81
implementation of the Systtn One IT system In the H05pice. In addltlon to thèt funding, other Hospice projects included the
purchase of 3 further Cuddlebed5 at a cost of £44,550.
ReservÈs Policy
The tTUStee5 have a pollcy of holding an income reserve to protect the charlty against future and unfoie5een fluctuatlons In its
IncotnÈ an(f expenditure. Thè trustee5 regularly rÈview the position and have considered thelr policy taking into account
external factors that tovld irnpact on the charitV'5 fundraising capaclty.
The trustéÈs have agreed durlng thÈ yÈBr to maintain our pollty to aim to keep a reserve of between sIK and nine months
running costs of the charity and up to 100% of the increased planned donation for hospice services forthe year following the
latest balance sheet d8te. ThÉ trustee5 h4ve contracted to increase their contrlbution to the running c05t5 of the hospice to
£1.9M a year for five years to 2031, and in the Inltial yÈar5 this will involve the use of some of Its rÈ5erves.
Accordlngly the trustee5 have dÈslgnated an amount of £1.9m from its general reserve to reflect this increased contribution
and its impact on the overall reserves position. The trustèÈ5 plan to increase fundrai5iDg activitythroughout the live year
tontract period to en8blÈ the charityto meet the grant ¢omFnitment.
At 31 M8rch 2026 the general fund 8mountÈd to £2,472,365. the basis of the agreed policy the reserve requlrement is
between £2,388,529 and £2,610,293.
InvestrnÈnt Policy and Performan¢e
The tru5tee5 aim to invesr fund5 not required for immedlatÉ use ITr order to maintain the real value of the charity's assets and
the purchasing power of it5 incorne for both current and future beneflclaries of its service5. The tru5tee5 also wish to mlnimi5e
the risk of c8pltal and income losses. Thls 15 done by employing prtifessional fund managers, by restricring the range of
investment In5trument5 and by requiring its investment portfollo to be diversified. This15 achieved by holding It5 investments In
Charlty Authori5ed Investment Funds. The tru5tee5 have agreed benchmark returns and the means of monitoring performance
against these with the Investment m4nagers.
Remuneratior)
The tru5tee5 receive no remuneration or other beneflt from their work wlth thÈ chÈrity, The pay of our staff 15 reviewed on èn

How our Activities Deliver Publlc Beneflt
