The following is the list of policies that are in place

The charity carries out DBS checks for everyone going on trips to Uganda. 

In November 2021 Trustees adopted a set of Charity Values,

In February 2024 two Trustees made a trip to Kampala as it was deemed unsafe to visit the work in the West around the Kyanya region due to aggression and violence in the area.  It was deemed that Westerners could be a target. Our colleagues from Kyanya came to Kampala for meetings. The charity also used this opportunity to introduce two Ugandan colleagues based in Kampala to assist with the proposal to set up a CBO, (Community Based Organisation).

## Trustee Visits 

- A Trustee visit took place between 6[th] to 22nd February 2024, but only to Kampala where staff from Kyanya came for meetings 

Community Relief 

- The Charity has kept some small funds available for ongoing Community relief,but has decided it is appropriate to use some of the funds for community related activities. 

Community Based Organisation. 

- During the year we supported our locally partners to set-up a Community Based Organisation (CBO). This is a locally run organisation with members of the UK charity on the board. The CBO is a separate entity and the board makes decisions as to how funds should be distributed to support the Kasese community. The majority of An African Dream funds go directly to the CBO which in turn provides funds to St Mark school and other projects. The CBO is currently 100% funded by An African Dream in the UK. 

## **Section E                    Financial review** 

AAD operates with minimal overheads and is a natural conduit of **Brief statement of the** donations flowing through to Uganda from the UK.  As such there is no **charity’s policy on reserves** requirement other than the temporary targeting of specific project requirements and for obtaining short term interest on deposit accounts with instant access to build reserves. 

Notwithstanding the above the Trustees agreed in September 2010 to keep in reserve a sum to cover 50% of one year’s wages for teachers at St Marks.  This is currently about £5,000.00
