Weekly Sunday worship conducted in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Sunday School for children and youths, bible study groups, house groups and fellowship groups, prayer meetings, discipleship training, evangelistic meetings, student ministry, outings, retreats and home visits.

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
## **Sunday Services**
Church services took place every Sunday morning. Services were conducted in a mix of English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
- From 22nd March 2020 onwards, services were moved online and were broadcasted on YouTube.com to comply with newly introduced Covid restrictions.
- The average number of attendees to our services was 35 (including children). Of these, approximately 70% were Cantonese speakers and 30% Mandarin speakers.
- We had Holy Communion services on every 2nd Sunday from January till March
## **Sunday School**
- From January to March, our Sunday School classes were held in conjunction with Luton Baptist Church during Sunday Service for children aged between 2 to 16.
- We had on average 9 children from LCCC attend Sunday School each week
- In these classes, the children were taught Christian teachings through studying the Bible and playing games.
## **Sermons and Church Theme**
- Our church’s 2020 theme was ‘Serving One Another in Order to Grow’
- • We had both internal speakers and external speakers invited from COCM (Chinese Overseas Christian Mission) and other churches
- All our sermons were interpreted to a second language, meaning 2 out of the 3 languages of English, Mandarin and Cantonese would be used
## **Bible Studies, Fellowship and House Groups**
- We had a variety of Bible study and fellowship groups (also commonly known as cell groups), which were migrated to online gatherings from March onwards due to Covid restrictions. They include but are not limited to the following:
- Our Luton group met fort-nightly on Friday evenings, with an average attendance of 5 people
- Our Hitchin group met fort-nightly on Wednesday mornings with an average attendance of 10 people
- Our Hemel Hempstead Bible study group met fort-nightly on Thursdays, and had an average of 4 attendees
- Our Family Gathering group was held monthly on Saturday afternoons with an average of 5 attendees
- We also held a weekly Mandarin student fellowship group with the purpose of evangelising to students. This ran from 6 to 9:30 pm on Thursday evenings and consisted of a meal together, worship time,

Bible study and prayer time. This saw an average of 8 students each time.
## **Outreach and visitations:**
- Prior to March 2020, our church council members paid home visits to some church members and newcomers
- We did not visit any local Chinese takeaway shops and restaurants in 2020 as in previous years
## **Prayer Meetings**
- Prior to March 2020, we held monthly prayer meetings, of which roughly 3-5 people attended
- After migrating to online meetings, we increased the frequency to meeting fort-nightly, and attendance also increased to roughly 7 - 9 people each time
**Financial Support for Missionary Work**
- We provided monthly financial support for various evangelical organisations and missionary workers across the world, such as World Vision
- We donated £8,000 in 2020, compared with £2,300 in 2019
- We used to participate in the Samaritan’s Purse International Shoe Box project by providing Christmas gifts in shoe boxes for children, but could not in 2020 as it was cancelled due to the pandemic
- **Training and Support for Theology Students**
- We supported theology students who used to be members of our church in their bock placements via prayer and financial means. They were trained in our church and since leaving have been working in missionary outreach programs in various places across the world
- We also supported 3 church members with £1,900 for their theology studies
## **Support for Individual Church Members and their Families**
- We provided social support in the form of house visits, counselling and food donations where needed for vulnerable members of our congregation
- We also supported them by providing language interpretation at medical appointments, and helped them complete application forms to apply for various social benefits, such as unemployment benefit
- This support was provided in person prior to lockdown, and afterwards was conducted on the phone where possible (for example, providing

**Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 43 of the 1993 Act,
- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the 1993 Act, and
- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
**Basis of independent examiner’s statement**
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
