Objectives and Activities

Para 1.17 and 1.19	Pebbles Project aims to enable children from agricultural communities in the Western Cape of South Africa to reach their full potential by offering a range of educational, health, nutrition, community and protection programs and services. Pebbles supports children from conception through to young adulthood. All funds raised by Pebbles Project UK go towards the provision of these programs and services.

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.	Para 1.20	We thought that 2022 was a good year. This year has surpassed all expectations. The Trustees are delighted to report yet another superlative level of fundraising income in the year ended 28 February 2022 – the highest in its history. For the year, £262,233 was raised. This is far highe than the £145,023 raised in 2022. This is largely down to the ongoing efforts of one of the trustees, Sophia Warner, who has spent time in the UK speaking to would-be donors and raising profile and awareness of the charity and its activity. As a result, several key corporate donors have come on board, including several schools. Her efforts in reaching out to significant corporate sponsors are bearing fruit. The Trustees are hugely grateful to Sophia for her efforts and to the new donors for making such a difference. Cash balances at the year-end are relatively low, due to the application of funds to specific key projects in the year. As ever, we are indebted to the many individuals who carry on sponsoring Pebbles through monthly donations. They do not seek the limelight, yet their contributions are the bedrock of the charity, and allow Pebbles to plan with some certainty for the future.

Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period	Para 1.21	The charity has a modest retention of cash on the balance sheet at the year end. This is due to the fact that most of the funds are transferred to a South African account and are earmarked for projects in South Africa.
