Achlevements for the year
The chaLity coiitinLiecl to pi ovicle a qiiality thei apeiitio interveiition to support mental health
recovery. We have nin twic¢ weekly ccotherapy garden days and a weeLy general garden
maintenance day tbroughoiil this period, as well as & range of engaging workshops and events for
the contnunity.
In addition this year, the Ch￿ltY has received ￿ndIrIg from the NHS to provide an addition
garden therapy day for young womell,
There was also a successftil fimding application for the N&tional Lottery which will la8t foi threc
years.
This is the first year since the Covid-19 restrÉctkons that there has been a surplus at the end of the
ycar, which will enable us to start growing Dur reserves.
Ecotherapy Progr&mme
Our ecoth¢rapy progrdrntne support8 mental FLealth recovery for people exp&iencing deprosston, anxiety, isolation and
recovery from mental illnes8 or long-terrll phy8tcal illn¢s8, Over this reporting period wc 8UPPOrted a tot￿ of 44
p&rtioipants on the ecothfflzpy pro￿arn￿e. We received 32 referrals via NIIS montaL health services, voluntary and
social oare orgEmi8ations. A total of l6 now participants joined the prograrntne, and three completed their full one year
pl&¢etnent. The remaindor are al variou8 St&ge8 of their plaGemenl8.
Our existing team of 32 biiddy voluntGer8 continued to be &Gtivoly involved providLng ongoing support in the g&Tden
for our eGotherapy progranmie. W8 expalldecl the buddy team during thi5 period, recNiting a further 10 new buddy
volullteers.
The last cohort of buddies were all women, with ages ranging from 25 to 50, some with gardening
expenence and some without. Some of our volunteeAS in previous cohorts were previous service users who
wanted lo rnaintain connection to us and give SOLnething bacLc,

The charity completed their org&nisational roview and fIlled the ttew rolo of Director. The remaining issues raised

ecotherapy service, AS well as our rogular referrals from North Bast London NHS Foulldalion Trust we engaged with

likes. We oontinue to send out regular monthly e-newylettsrs to all subscribers. We produced new flyer8 &bout our
8¢rvices and activitie8 and attended variou8 outreach events, The Director writes a monthly article for tbe loc&[ free
newspaper.
Fundlng
We cort]menced the year of a tbJee-year gTallt from City Bridge Tnist in Jalluary 2022 totallillg
£85,000. We received funding Neighboluhood Conllnunity MfrastNeture Levy throiigh Rcdbridge
Council to replace tho kitchen equipment. We also retteived the r￿St payment from the National Lottery
whioh totals £150,000 ovcr tbree years. There were also smaller received from D'oyly Carte,
Leathersell¢rs Company, DH Wills ancL Belltl¢y, We would like to tharLlc all those who help us to continue
our work with their l(ind support.
Staff and trustee team
Unfortunately one of cl￿ gardeners left the charity in lanuary and to cover Somc of his hours we increaged
the hOl￿S of the remaining gardener. There are no changc8 to our Ecoth6rapy Worker or Director. We have
also appointed several 8e8sional 8taff to cover arlliual leave and 8iclffle88.

As with mo8È small charitses the risk'8 are to m¢iintain a healthy income ￿ld a st¢ady flow of service users,
Al the moment there is no concem in these areas, with the income from a National Lottery gLant for tb¢e
years and new contracts with the NHS.
Flnancial performance
The ch&rity receivod income of £103,607 (2023: £53,830) of whioh £95,503 (2023: £50,275) wa8 re8tricted inooine
grants from Ch￿￿tabLe trusts and foundations. Expen(hture w&8 £81,907 (2023.. £76,247), In the absence of a project
manag¢r (now Director) for a nLimb¢r of months fLthdraising efforts slowed, In light of that, &Thd Ibe cI￿lIenging
financial clllnate, trustee8 agreed to use the charity rese￿e8 to maitstain ils operations, in anticip&lion of securing
further funding. Withm that context, the tnistees regard this as a sali8f&clory financial p¢rformane¢ for the year,
