REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDING
31" DECEMBER 2023
The Annual Ac¢ouDtS show the income and expenditure of this Church. but this ￿pOrt. as a record
of events during the year, gives the backgmund infomiation.
ECC was fonned in 1985. and in 1986 we purchased the Old Methodist Chapel which had been in
industrial use for over fortv years, and was in a dilapidated condition. A ten-year programme of
work came to a Conclusion in tkcember 1996, when the refurbished upper storey was brought into
use, thus making provision for a whole range of vouth artd children's activities. both on Sundays
and during the week.
Other regular week-day activities included music rehearsal. church meeting, trustees, meeting,
wam) space, fellowship meetin8. mums-and-toddler& community lunch, and a mid-week service.
We had a paid pastor. Rev Aaron Walker. until November.
From September, the building was hired out during tem)-time to the local Schools Out Club. &$
well as to the local Girl Guides. Ranger Guides and Brownies.
The building was hired out on Fridays for use bv the Massive- youth club.
Locally, we played a part in united church ventures at the village level.
The Church has in place a comprehensive Protection Policy which cL)vers all aspects of the
Church's activities with Children. youth and vulnerable adults. and which is regularly up41ated.
In 1985 Emmanuel Community Church began with thirty-three members and no premises. Today..
our excellent stone building of 1843 has an up-to-date interior where an average congregation of
about thirty meets each Sunday.

Respective The charills trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year
responsibilities of (under section 43{21 of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act)) and that an
trustees and examiner independent examination is needed.
It is my fesponsibility to
examine the accounts (urider section 43 of the Act).
to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the
Charity Commission (under section 43{7}(b) of the Act), and
to state whether partiojlar matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent My examination was camed OLrt in accordance vath General Directions giv8n
examinerfs ststement by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the
accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts
presented those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual
items or disdosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the
trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not
provide all the eviden￿ that would be required in an audit, and
nsequenly I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
Independent In the course of my examination. no matter has ts)me to my attention (ethe
examinerfs statement
which gives me reasonable cause to telieve that in, any material respect,
the trustees have not met the requirements to ensure that..
proper acojunting records are
kept (in accordance with section 41 of the Act)., and
accounts are prepared which
agree with the accounting records and comply Wlth the accounting
requirements of the Act., or
