## **REFLECTING ON 2023** 

## _**Let all children grow and live to their full potential!**_ 

As we approach the conclusion of 2023, it's with great pleasure and gratitude that we share a comprehensive reflection on the numerous impactful endeavours undertaken over the past year. We, at Give Hope Ethiopia, have remained committed to our purpose of uplifting and empowering individuals, families, and communities in Ethiopia. Let's take a moment to celebrate the collective achievements and profound impact of these initiatives. 

In **February** , we launched our year with heartfelt dedication and compassion, ensuring the provision of essential sanitary materials and nutrition at the four operational centres. This foundational effort set the tone for the impactful months that followed. 


Moving into **March and April,** a significant milestone marked our journey when we facilitated a three-day Basic Business Skills Training for 25 single mothers. This powerful initiative was made possible through the generous support received from Advent Olathe Lutheran Church.

In **May** , the delivery of annual clothing to 160 sponsored children and the provision of essential sanitary materials and nutrition support for 23 beneficiaries in the rural village of Yerer Kontoba reinforced our commitment to holistic support and community engagement. 


By the glorious arrival of **June** , we were able to raise donations to uplift these single mothers, providing invaluable support on their path to transcending poverty. Empowering them with start-up materials, we aimed to enable a diverse range of businesses, ranging from baking and selling Injera to undertaking the preparation and sale of snacks coupled with tea and coffee, among various other entrepreneurial ventures.

The fervour of summer culminated in **July and August,** as we successfully concluded our summer program, embarking on a mission to cultivate personal growth, creativity, and empowerment. Witnessing the artistic exploration of the young girls through crochet and encouraging the artistic pursuits of the young men in pottery crafts was particularly awe-inspiring. 


Forward in **September,** the bustling atmosphere at the bazaar at Selam Children's Village No. 1 became a beacon of success as our young artisans showcased their handmade creations, drawing a supportive local crowd and generating substantial sales - a testament to the community's recognition of their remarkable talent.

In **October** , the collective efforts of the students at Ohio State University led to the provision of essential educational materials for 74 students in need. 

Additionally,  our cherished children, who have immensely benefited from the 

sponsorship program, expressed their profound gratitude through heartfelt, handwritten letters to their sponsors. 


**November** saw a remarkable milestone, as Shewaye's unwavering dedication directly benefited 25 single mothers, igniting hope and transformation through a sustained partnership with Give Hope Ethiopia.

As we reflect on these achievements, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed sponsors and stakeholders. Your unwavering support has been the cornerstone of our impact, empowering us to continue our mission with passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to transforming lives. 

As we eagerly look towards 2024 and the promise of a new year, we remain wholeheartedly committed to our vision of creating a brighter, more empowered future for Ethiopia.

2023 Report 

e have watched them grow, and now they are ready for their new life Wchapter to be written! 

Most of the children graduating from Grade 7 began their nursery phase with us, and today, the 1st of December 2023, we celebrated their graduation from Luyando School. What a day! 

The excitement from the parents and 

guardians was electric. The graduates could not believe that the long awaited day had arrived especially that they are the initiators of such a celebration. Though dressed in borrowed gowns, the children proudly danced and watched their fellow pupils present various items to the delight of all the spectators. We are trusting God to have our own gowns in the next graduation.

## **Graduation Day** 


Parents were dumbstruck seeing deserving pupils appreciated with small gifts. This will serve as motivation for the rest of the learners who kept buzzing about how their future graduation day will be lit up. 

As far as farming goes, we are getting organised, and so far our planting is almost complete. So that is a plus for us! We are growing maize, and have planted one field with cover crops to improve its fertility. 

We are done with end of year assessments and our open day will be next week Wednesday. So by the start of next week we shall know which children will be progressing to which grade. Otherwise we have already entered our Grade 7 candidates for the National ECZ Examination to take place end of 2024.
