Structure, governance and management The Ray Harris Charltable Trust was constltuted under a trust deed dated 14 November 2007 and Is a reglstered charlty, number 1122811. However, the Trustees regularly revlew the performance of the portfollo and that of the Investment manager to ensure that the total return of the portfollo Is In Ilne wlth comparable Indice5. Objectlves and actlvltles The objects of the charlty are to pay or apply the Income and capltal of the trust fund to such charitable organ15atlon5 or for such other general charltable purposes as the Trustees In thelr dlscretlon thlnk fit. The Trustees conflrm that they have referred to the guldance contalned In the Charlty Commlsslon's general guldance on publlc beneflt when revlewlng the charIt￿$ alms and objectlves and In plannlng future actlvltles and settlng grant maklng pollcy for the year. The charlty carrles out Its objects by Invltlng appllcatlons for fundlng from both Indlvlduals and charltable organlsatlons. Support Is focussed on West Wlltshlre with partlcular emphasis on Trowbrldge, North Wiltshire south of the M4, and the Bath area. That objective is met by maklng grants to a range of charities in the target area covering a wide spectrum of charitable cause5 in the fields of the arts, educatlon, mediclne and mental health, youth organlsatlons and projects, social welfare and conservation. Additionally the Trustees make grants to individuals within the target area, supporting education, aid for the disabled and soclal welfare.

The investment strategy is set by the Trustees for a perlod of three years and takes account of recent demand for funds and the quallty of the grant application5. The Trustees consfder the Income requlrements, capltal grant fundfng requlrements, the rlsk proflle and the Investment manager's vlew of the market prospects in the medlum tenn. Thls strategy Is set wlthln an overall pollcy whlch states that the trust fund Is to be Invested to obtain an annual increase In the value of the fund whlch, as a mlnlmum, matches Inflatlon, and to produce a reasonable Income yleld In Ilne wlth the yleld on the FfsE-100 Share Index. The Trustees revlew thelr Investment strategy wlth thelr Investment manager annually, and also recelve Interlm reports. Durlng the perlod the charltls Investments Increased In value by £181,109 [2023 decreased by 45,805). Flnanclal revlew The trust recelves Income from It5 Investments. The results for the year are shown on page 5. The Trustees conslder the results to be satlsfactory glven the current market condltlons. The trust fund Is entlrely unre5trlcted, and produced an Income of £75,179 [2023 £70,760]. Grants and related management expenses funded out of both capltal and Income totalled £71,930 [2023 £72,143]. The Trustees ensure that thelr grant maklng pollcy accords wlth thelr avallable resources each year and as they can make dlstrlbutlons from both capital and income, the Trustees conslder that there Is no need for a speclflc reserve. Plans for future perlods The Trustees conslder that the trust fund Is sufflclent to ensure the future of thls trust, and for It to carry out Its charltable objectlves, for the foreseeable future. Independent Examlner The Trustees have asked A Jordan FCA of Halnes Watt5, Chartered Accountants, to undertake the Independent examlnatlon of the Trust. I report In respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under sectlon 145 of the Act and In carrying out my examinatlon I have followed all the appllcable Dlrections given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. The financlal statements have been prepared under the hlstorlcal cost conventlon except for the Investments whlch are stated at fair value. Fund accountlng Unrestrlcted funds can be used In accordance wlth the charltable objects at the dlscretlon of the trustees. Restrlcted funds can only be used for partlcular restrlcted purposes within the objects of the charlty. Short term Ilqutd Investments and cash Cash at bank Is held to meet short-term cash commltments as they fall due rather than for Investment purposes and Includes all cash equivalents held In the form of short-term hlghly Ilquld Investments. Cash equlvalents are short.term, highly Ilquld Investments that are readily convertlble to known amounts of cash and that are subject to an Inslgnlflcant rlsk of changes in value.
