AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust is a charitable company limited by guarantee,
incorporated on October 11, 2007 and registered as a charity on Februwy 8, 2008. The company was
established under a Memorandum of Assoc4ab'on and is governed under its Arbcles of Associat￿. In
the event of the company being wound up mern￿rs are required to contn.bule an amount not
exceeding £10.

The truste￿ who are directors for the purpose of company law and trusiees for the purpose of charity
law, who served during the year and up io the date of this report. are sel out on page 1. AFC
Bournemouth Communty Sports Trust new trustees are appointed upon the recommendation of
existing Iruslees. AFC BouTnemoulh apwjint a nominated Trustee to the board as the dub
representative. One third of the trustees must retire at ea¢h annual general tneeting and offer
themselves for rtrelection.
Rlsk management
The trustees have identffied and considered the main risks to which the Trust is exposed and have
taken the ne￿SSary steps to mitigate and manage these risks on a reguLar basis. Risk management
forms part of the organisalions inlemal control arrangements to f￿$ LY the mitigation of risks that
would prevent AFC Boumemuth Community Sports Trust from ach*ving ils Strat￿lC objectives. The
Risk Management FKJlicy is reviewed annually by Senior Managem￿1 and the Board ofTwstees.
Oryanisational structur•
Day to day responsibility for the prowsion of seNtes rests with the head of the Community Sports
Trust, Steve Cuss, a qualified FA and UEFA Coach. He is suPF￿ed by Senior Managers Andrew
Battison and Luke Simpson. AJI admin￿tratiOn is undertaken by Anne Cuss. Al remuneration across
all staff is reviewed every Iwo years by the Board of Trustees.

Objectives and activities for the public benèfit
The Trusys objective is the pron￿liOn of LL)mmunty patts"c1pat￿ft in heatthy reueation. in parb"¢ular by
the provision of f￿llItIeS for the playing of kntball. The aim is to help young people, especially but not
exclusively through leisure tirne activities, so as to develop their capabilities that they May grow to full
maturity as individuals and members of society. Also, to provide or asslst in the provision of sporting
and recreational facilibes for the public of Bournemouth and surrouThling areas without referen￿ to
e, religion and belief, sex, disability, nats"onality, ethnic or national origin or social background, wilh

The trustees confim that they have had regard to the guidano contained in the Charity Commission's
general guidance on public benefft when reviewing the Charity's aims Obl￿tiveS and in planning
future activities.
The Community Sports Trust is the charitable aTm o*AFC BoumemDUth, achvety working in the local
community across BoumeTnOUth, Poole and surrounding areas within four main strands of wort.
Education - Health - Participation - Inclusion
The team of 45 fv11 time staff deliver over 150 CAiaching and teaching sessions and engage with 4.000
people, from aJes 1 to 101, a weeK working in partnership with sctrwls. organisatK)ns and
businesses.
The Trust's vision is to provide oppothjnrties for all. through project delivery. m&bng Ihe needs of the
l(Kal community and delniering a mixture of active sessions along with ￿JuCation and support groups.
A key aim is to help individuals reach their potential with pathways in place from recreational activities
through to teams and thère are currently 28 registered teams across the ccffimunity from the Girls &
Women's programme, Disability, Colkge and Walking fcotball.
The AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Tntstwas formed in 2001 from the Football in the
Community programme and has continued its chartlable working partnership AFC Bournemoulh.
In 2008 it gained charitable status and conb.nues to be a self-fundiry, mn-profil org8nisation which
has a huge impact upon the local communtty through increasing involvement in spott

Mlni Cherrias
Mini-cherries is a Iwice weekly toddler football sessKJn. which aims to help children learn the basic
principles of play such as sharing and communution, along with irrproving their bas￿ motor skn'lls-.
balan￿ 8nd ¢oordinati"on. The most imp)rtanl part of the Mini-cherries session is the introduction lo
fcotball for children aged 1-3 years old and enjoyment for learning the game.
Ninikickers
Minikickers is one of the rnore popular weekty Se5s￿lns, reaching over 250 ehildren a week at the
vrtality Stadium alone. The sessions which last an hour invrte children to join in and learn new skills
through dribbling games. shooting drills and small-sided matches.

The Trust continues to run the AFC BcHJmemouth Girfs and Women's teams. and following the
successes of previous seasons. is pleased to be offering u)mpeb"b"ve opportunit￿S to ts)th girls and
women in six squads.
The successfvl gids-onty football coaching pn)gramme which has been running for over three seasons
at the Vitality Stadium and Slades Park.
Over 350 women and girfs participated in the programme during the year, with the entire programme
supported by Bournemouth Unniersty which induded:

During the year the Trust was awarded a License from FAIPrerruer League to run an Emerging
Talent Centre (ETCI for the next three years. The awarding of this li￿nSe wll allow the Trust to further
their existing work wtthin the girls, and women's ganE, offering speafic focu5 on the younger age
groups.
The ETC will focus on the under-gs, under-11s and under-13s age g￿ups, with players receiving
weekty coaching session5 to cofflplement their existing club commilmenls. This then links to the club's
e￿stIng gids, academy sides ft)r the under-10s, under-12s. under-145 and under-16s age groups.
Promier League Kicks
The Premier League Kicks programmes continues to expand now offering free football sessions in
BournenK)uth, Poole and Vetwood. The popular project offers free kntball and additional opportunities
to over 1000 young peop￿ locally a year. The project encourages young people to get involved in
playing sports in the evenings and at weekend5, which sees them benef(( from a healthier lifestyle,
improved well-being and rrK)St importantty offers them a safe environment to enjoy themselves and
have fun with friends.
The project offers sessions to mixed groups, as well as a gir15 onty evening session. Sessions for
children aged 8-13 years old are coached sessions, whereas sessions for those aged 14+ are
lournamenl style sessions.
24 female participants aged 12-16 years participated in the Premier League Changemakers
programme which includes leadership and empowemenl workshops, whilst getting involved in social
ath.on and volunteering work.

The Trust hosts Soccer Camps every sch¢x)I holiday across Boumemouth, Purbeck and Blandford.
The sessions are for Ix)ys and girls aged 7-14 years old, not including Minikid(ers Soccer Camps
which are for boys and gids aged 4* years old and are available for chiklren of any ability. They
include a fun warm up, skill games, penalty compeh"tions and small-sided rnatches. All Soccer Camps
are run and delThiered by qualified and expertenced football ¢oaches who have all CoMp￿ted up lo
dale safeguarding and ￿ergencY aid qualificatsons_ All staff are also DBS checked.
Extra-curricular Coaching and scho￿ Clubs

The programme pmvides all primary schools with the opportunity to be invdved in a variety of

health impacL for the local communty.

Dorsel and Hampshire regions.
The workshops k)ok at important themes throughout every-day life. Heaffhy Lifestyles, Respect and
Cibzenship. Safer Kids Online. Equality. Diversty and Indusion_
Each lesson is free of charge and can be taibred for different age ranges in Primary and se￿ndary
Schools. In each lesson. there are PowerPoint presentations, group discussions andl or individuav
small group tasks, as well as a¢b"vty sheeis and tssks lo cornp￿te a variou5 points during the
lessons.
Healthy Lrfe$tyJes
The Healthy Lifestyle workshop focuses on educating young people on the importance tsf maintaining
a healthy lifestyle, through diet and eXer￿Se. as well as looking at hydrabon levels and the importance
of sleep.
The lesson starts by looking al the Eatsvell plate and then move$ on lo the breakdovm of the main food
groups including nutrients, minerals and vitamins and their importanc&.
The importance of taking part in regular exerase to keep heathy. aThJ why rfc is important to keep
hydrated whilst exe￿lS1ng is then u)vered.
Throughout the les50n, the parbcipants complete different tasks and activtlies, such as creating
healthy meals for AFC BournenKJuth players, specifically linknng to the different timès of a m*¢h day.
Respect and citizenshlp
The Respect and Citizenship workshop looks at how children's love for sport and fcx)tball and AFC
Bournemouth can be linked lo help encourage posltive behaV￿)ur.
The lesson touches on both respecfful and disrespeclful behaviours in everyday life, before tsking a
nv)re in4eplh look at respect within football, illustrated through presentations and videos.
Project sponsor, Goadsby, has also created workshop tx)oklets whth are gNen lo Primary School
pupils to aid their learning. These include fun athities and games. whiL8t also showing examples of
how we Can show respect in Fwtball.
The lesson encourages the pupils lo share Kleas in small group dis¢us&ons, whilst inspiring them lo
demonstrate positwe and re$pecthJl behaviours in the classroom. The final task for the ¢hildren is to
create a poster, demonslraling why respectful behaviour is important in everyday lrfe, with key
message5 and examples included on their poster.
Safer Kid$ Online - Internet safety
The Safer Kids Online prograTnme is a popular workshop del￿er￿1 to I￿al schools. The lesson.
supported by ESET UK. educates young peopb on how lo remain safe whilst using the internet.
The ¢lassroom-based lesson addresses the children's mst commcffi uses of the internet and
develops on the safety features and age ranges for each of these drffe￿nt app1￿atK)n$ and websites.
This Sesstsn touches on keeping E￿OrIleS secure, as well as what conlenl should be kept private and
not shared with others online.
Towards the ené of the lesson, the chikI￿n look at different Scenar￿)5 which they may face online and
how they would deal with each individual situation.

sensible finance and enhancing the knowledge and financial wellth'ng of S￿dents and their futures.
The programme will bring the schools maths ojrriculum to life by giving an introduction to financial
literacy, educating pupiL4 on L￿, bank accounts. budgeb.ng and understanding Credit.
The workshops also provKle students with infoTmation on how to a￿$$ additional support on financial
areas and products outside the sessions_

Thè Trust provides support to both primary and secondary schools across Dorset to help educational
leaders raise awareness of a subject that has never been so high on the public agenda.

The partnership be￿een Care South and the Trust is now in its ninth year. The partnership
encompasses main activities.. The Extra Time PToject and Chair Football. The Extra Time project
involves Trust coaches Vlslting the varK)us Care South care homes across Bournemouth, Poole.
Christchurch and other Dorset locations. As part of the interact￿n with the ¥esKlenls the coaches lake
part in various activities," including sharing AFC Bournemouth Me￿TieS through photos and various
other items of of memorabilia. A crucial part of the Trusvs visit to the homes is the Chair Football
aclivtty. The coaches also lead the sessions through encouraging ￿ participants to pass the ball
around the room. whilst remaining Sealed. To build on the session. obstacles and goa15 are added,
which also replicates more common football prath"ses.

The Trust hosted a famity day at a I￿al care home to bring together mulbple generations and raise
awareness around dementia.
Walking Football
The Trust run5 weekty Walking Football coaching sessions in partnership wth Care South.
Walking F(X¢tball is a version of the popular Wtth a few small ru￿ thanges. One of the most
important Changes being that it must be played at a walking p￿.
These sessions are offered to both men atKI women aged 50+ and encourage them to keep fit arKI
heahhy without playing an espe&al]y competitNe or demanding sporL
There are now leams in three age groups taknTrJ part in r￿lUreS. both1o211y and across the country. In
addition lo the recre81ional options, the teams train weekly, which Fxovide further opwrtunity lo
improve Feople's phy￿Cal and mental wellbeing.
During January 2023 the Trust hosted a walkn.ng Football Toumament which included teams from
Eastleigh, Chelsea and Norwich.

This is a weight management session targeting those who want to get in shape Ifs a mixed Gircuits
class at Vtialtty stadium on Thursdays bebveen 7pm and 8pm.
There is also a men's fwe-a-side for those who want to get fit through fcKrtball. These lake pl￿ on the

Sport and Social
Sport and Social sessions are delivered in partnership with Dorset Mental Health Forum, on the 3G
pitches at Vitslity Stadium The sessions are desHJned for those aged 16 and over who have
experienced any form of mental health dtfficulty and offer an hour-long fix)tball event. to help those
taking part lo socialise and reinie9rate back into organised activit￿5.
Mentalk
MENTalk is a cancer supwrt group held in partnership wtth Wessex Cancer Trust. The Trust offers
online support sessions three times a week for men who have been affected by cancer to come
t(yJether and talk and share their experien￿.
Bounce Back
The Trust continued to support lo¢al disadvantaged and vulnerable adults in achieving independent
sustained living via a combination of classrfy)m and practtcal leaming ￿lIvIbes.
The first part of the session5 is stEnt on eduCat￿n - helping lo deliver personal development, physical
and mental well-being, money management healthy eating and lifestyles and considering what the
next steps in life might look like and this is followed by a football session wrth kil provided by the Trust.

The Trust is comfflitted to ensuring that everybody has the opporturty to play foolball and attend o
session designed to meet their needs. Thanks to the PreM￿r league, a disabilty prograrr￿e has been
developed which offers a range of competitive and recreakn.onal sport opportunib.es as well as ensuring
that all programmes run by the Trust are accessible and inclusNe for all.

The community coaches are often present in schools, mainstream and those that specialise in
educational needs anij disabilities.

in a safe environmenl.
Powerchair
The club launched Its first Powerchair football team ahead of the 2018119 season and during this year
AFC Boumemoulh Warriors. wwer¢hair pL2yers ￿￿Ved womotion lo the Premiership for the
2022123 campaign.
During the final week of fixtures, the Warriors laced a fv&rn*h day wth the ability to jump up a
dwiston on the line.
An emphatic display saw the Cherries win all five matches. scori￿ 11 goals without a reply from the
opposfcion sides in the process.
Success continued when players from the Powetchair squad were re¢ogni8ed with awards.
