Nature of the Governing document and constitution of the Charity
Fennynwoods Contempordry Art Limiied is a charitable company limited by guarantee. In the event
of the organisation being wound up members are required io contyibu(e an amoun( noi exceeding £1.
The company was estsblished under a Memorandum of Association. which esthblished the objectives
and powers of the charitable company and is 8ovcrn¢d under its Articles of A55ocialion.
The organtsational structure of the Charity and how decislons are made
The Charity has a Board of Trnstees who have overall control and responsibility for policy and major
decision making and all are Directors and trustees. Day io day rnana8ement and responsibiliiy for
implementing policies is carried oui by the Director. There are a number of subcontractors and
volunie¢rs in the organisation.
The methods adopted for the reen￿tment and appolnlment of new trustees
All vacancies are advertised iniernally and externally through local organisations and by personal
introductions from existing trustees.
All potential truslees are invited to submit a CV. Upon agreement by the Board, new irustees are
co-opted to the Board.
The Chariiy appoints, removes or disqualifies direciors in accordance with 12.1.1 - 13.1.6 of its
¢onslitution. All new ¢trop(ed (rusiees are vrt¢d for and re¢ommend¢d by members at our Annual
General Meeting.
The pollcies and procedures adopted for the induction And training of trustees
Prior to being elected. nominees are invited to a Management Commiliee meeting. as well as visiting
the premises to meet trusiees and staff. Should they be appoinied. they are provided with all relevant
inforniation for the Charity Commission and Companies House as well as infonnalion for the Charity
itself regarding the contenl of work for a trustee. Following this, arrangements are made. on a
continual b&sis. to attend any courses which are deemed advantageous to a truslee.

After discussions at iheir meetings and in particular regular monitoring of ihe fund balances, income
and expendilure. the tTUStees have iden¢ified ihe UK'S economic inslabiliiy as a risk thai coniinues to
face the organisatlon in the short and medium tern). However, they arc working hard lo mitigate ihis
risk by working in partnership with key local partners (such as Councils and Education Institutions)
embed the organisation within (he loc￿ community.
The committee will continue to review all risks facing the Charity and has developed Ats Rtsk
Management Policy as part of the Business Planning process. The new Policy includes: addressing
the need to coniinue io diversify our income streams; improve our Insliluiional Markding and
Succession Planning.

OBJECTIVES AND AcfiviTIES
On 8 Mawh 2022, the Board passed a resolution to amend the objects of the Charily (io include ihc

The Charity's objects are:
a) to promote, assist and improve the arts for ihe public benefit; and
b) encourage and advance the educalion of the public through provtslon of educational
activities relatlng to the arts and envlronment and, in particular but not exclusivcly, the
visual arts and cllmate change.
These revised objects bctter refleci the nature of our educational activities and the fact that in 2019 we
joined other cultural organisaiions in declaring a Climate and Ecologlcal Emergency.

We aim to improve the qualiiy of people's lives by providing high quality arts and arts-edueation
experiences. In particular. we aim to break down barriers and reach non-traditional audiences and
individuals who may be excluded from the arts, such as those on low incomes. those with disabilities.
those from ethnic minority groups, older w)pl¢, and children and young people excluded or at risk of
being excluded from education. A key company objeclive is (o grow and diversify our audience, and
we use the aris cr￿1Ve1Y ￿ engage people from a wide range of communities (please see below).
Given our rural location we design arts projects which link the rural and (he urban, and raise
awareness of and explore the local environment in its widesl sense: the naiural environment:
archaeology; heriiage: ecology; land management and uscs of the land. e.g. farniing, foresty.
onservation, industrialisalion and posl-industriaj transformation; landscape interpretation. local
people and cultures. To this end, we aIso continue lo maximise the benefits to (he public from working
in partnership with our Deighbours: The Forestry Commission and The National Trust. Our
programme attracts audiences from across the UK and abroad, in addilion to our core catchmenl area
in Nonhamptonshire centred around the key iowns of Corby* Ke(ierin8 and Wellingborough.
We coniinued to strengthen our posiiion as the key straiegic niral arts development agency in ihe area
by Arts Council England Easi Midlands, East Northamptonshire Council and Northampionshire
Counly Council. We also contsibute significantly (o the regional tourism offer and the rural economy.
An explanation of the Charity's maln objectives for the year
We continue to play a vital role in the visual art5 sector in the FAst Midlands, which is an
acknowledged under-funded area for ihe arts, in particular Northamptonshire. and hence an area with
few high quality art and arts<ducation activities.

From April 2022 - March 2024, Fermynwoods Contemporary Art delivered the second phase of its
two-year Xylophobia Programme. Named from the fear of wooden objects or forests, Xylophobia
addresses issues of place and belonging. which go lo the heart of community feelings of exclusion
from boih the art world and woodland spaces. Funded by Arts Council England.
From March 2024 onwards, Fermynwoods Contemporary Art embarked on Love + Light. a new
Ihematic programme funded by North&Mp￿nshlre Creative Climate Action Fund.
Where there is little doubt that today's children will inherit a world with complex 50Gial-environmenta]
challenges as a result of living with climak breakdown, art can play a role in shining a light on these
issues whilst providing Spiritu￿ nourishment, attending to and transforming emotions, creating hope,
responsibility, care and solidarily Wlth one another and the planet.
Love + Light will See a pro8ramme of light-based artistic interventions across Norlhampionshire
addressing ihe climal¢ crisis by fostering awareness, inspiring ac(ion, and ¢ul¢ivatin8 a deeper
connection with the Earih and ils inhabitants, promoting solace and the sense ihat we are part of
something greater than ourselves.
This theme will extend to Fermynwoods Contemporary Art's edu¢a(ion work and by cross-fertilisin8
programmes we will provide access to high quality art and artists for new audiences, reaching families
and community groups Ihrough our work with young people in mainstream and non-mainstream
schools.

Xylopliobia." Online was an exhibition of dig]￿llY based work taking ils name from the fear of wooden
objects, forests. or wooded areas. Responding to the increased needs and fears of outdoor activities in
Ihe wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the featured work presenied explorative, experimental and
conceptual spaces at this inierseciion, whilst inquisitive and mindful of the environmenial impact of
crealin8 and presenting artworks using digital technology.

Imagined and digitised forests, physical wooden objects and speculative graphics processing units.
forest inspired audio mixes and digitally feTmented film-based work. Visitors were invited to engage
with the works and consider their own relalionship with the environment, both physically and
virtually.
All commissioned work used The Networked Condition carbon calculator tool to help plan, shape and
evaluate the work, with the footprint of each published a]ongside the work
Alongside visitors worldwide, Xylophobia.. Online was visiied by students from FouDdaiion year
students from London Metropolitan University's School of Art, Architectute and Design as part of
Iheir Crilical and Contextual Studies module. Further insighi was given lo Art and Design students at
Tresham College through lectures and tutorials from F¢Tmynwoods Director James Steventon and
HNCIHND Art Praclice Course txader Spencer Graham - a participating artist in the exhibition.

Ways of knowing was an in(ernaUonal exhibilion ai Brixworth Country Park, making connections
between the environment and our physical bodies. Guesl curated by Yasmin Canvln, the participating
artists employed sound, human-made and natural materials to create physica] and intellectual spaces
around at the park grounds ihat explored how and where we as individuals fit in the natural world. As a
result, these alternative spaces - liierally or within our imagination - made the world feel a little less
alien.
Accompanying the exhibition was Counlerpoinl
a series of sound works crealed by artists and
musicians engaging with and amplifying natural forces and elements. Headphones were installed in at
Brixworth Country Park to create a listening circl¢, inviting visitors to focus on a single sense, and
imagine ihe physical presence of the sonic landscape as its individual components weTe revealed
through the aural textures of plants, wind. wa￿r and W￿d.
Ways of knowing featured on ITV Regional News (Anglla) (o an estimated broadcast aUdIe￿e of I
million people, in addition to favourable coverage on BBC Radio Northampton and the BBC News
website for Northamptonshire.
Friends of Brampton Valley Way & Brixworth Country Park engaged with artist Sarah Taylor
Silverwood through a number of workshops to create a Risograph printed zine. ￿vealIng resources
hidden in the woods and leaving a lcgacy artefact from the exhibition.
Year 7 pupils from Spratton Hall School took part irA an on site artist led workshop by photographer
Andy EathorDe, fealuring a portable photographic darkroom.
The exhibition was launched with a Curalors Wolking Tour led by Guest Curator Yasmin Canvin.

The Fennynwoods Coniemporary Art Podcas1 is an experimental space for the display and crealion of
contemporary art which is fully accessible from people's homes. For our Xylophobia programme,
episodes were guest curated by Subterra (Marle-chantal Hamrock and Astrid BJbrklund), inviting
listeners to get losl in the unknown, lo take a stroll through rich woodlands. dark foresls and
subterrestrial landscapes. Subterra navigate these eerie and unfamiliar spaces, exploring anisi talks,
discussions, and original commissioned sound art, to complement our public facing programm¢.
Following her 2022 Silencer perforniance in Corby woods, Maja Zeéo asked two very important
que5tion5: "Who is lisiening?" and "Who is perfonning.
, sharing audio recorded from her sensory
impairmeni soundwalking suit. Audio from this episode was also presented at ISEA 2023 in Paris, the
28th Internalional Symposium on Electronic Art and a major evenl on the global electronic art scene.
Spencer Graham discussed the specificiiy of music, tracklists and circular narratives alongside forest
themed tracks to coincide wilh his Xylophobia.. Online mixes.
A Ton of Worms presents a a rich and profound work exploring themes of time, space, nature and
human conne¢iion tlwough the chthonic lens of an ancient yew tree.
Tosca Teran expanded on her work included in our Ways of knowing exhibition, drawing from fungal
mycelial communication research (o reveal the ethereal fun81 frequencies of lh¢ oyster mushroom.
pleurotus ostr¢atus.
Saolrse Horne combined ambient elements, folk song and field recording to paint a world rooted in
messages of phaniasm and fabricalion for a new audio work, O, God of Weather.
The final episode of the Xylophobia season presented a binaural radio play written by podcast guest
curaiors, Subterra: Marle-chantal Hamrock and Astrld BJorklund.
This se&8on of the podcast also featured specially commissioned videos by Sgpphlre Goss
accompanying and in response lo each recorded episode. uiilising Spotify's podcasl video feature and
also available on YouThbe and our social media channels.
Alongside the series of commissioned sound works and discussions. Astrfd Bjorklund curated a
series of playlists in response to each episode, Unearihing oiherworldly ambient Iracks, ih¢se playlisls
aci as aLmospheric landmarks or chapter5, further deepening the lore surrounding the work of each
artist featured on the podcast.
79% of our lisieners discovered the Fermynwoods Podcast in 2023. The podcasl was streamed in 18
different countries including Bosnia & Herzegovina. Kazakhstan, Ausiralia and USA. 4 episode videos
fealured in Spotify's top 25% mosi viewed and our podcast rating remained al 5 stars. We created a
153% increase in podcast conteni this year.

Hybrid Worknhops were a series of artist led activities utilising the l*st of the online and offline
worlds, connecting people with one another and with the natural world.
Whal We Weave saw participants spend the day in Ferniyn Woods with Boon & Baum weaving
digitised fabric 'screens' amongst the trees to explore the communication that occurs beiween trees via
the my¢orrhiza] network and its connections technology and iextileslweaving.
Through a live perforniance of weaving Boon & Baum Created a 'social fabric, between the ire¢s and
the participants, hosting new connections and conversations. This Culminat￿ in Brendan McDowell
from Mycosia's fascinating online talk aboui fungi and the world of mushrix)ms, presented through
green screen iechnology on a netwotk of fabric screens woven by workshop participants, fealuring an
animation by Maria Quint&s.

Canning, guided participants lo build interacuve audio circuits to sonically explor¢ Fernjyn Woods

Our fourteenth year working in partnership with The CE Academy with Key Siage 3 students
pernianently excluded from school. dual Rgistered, and school age mothers, continued wilh a wide
rang¢ of artist led workshops at Sudborough Green Lodge in Ferniyn Woods. on location at
Brixworth Country Park. and ai new outreach locaiions East Carlton Countryside Park and
Stanwick Lakes. Session look place twicc per week across the remainder of ihe 2022-2023 academic
year. with our fourteenth year beginning with the siart of the 202>2024 acad¢mi¢ year.
Highlights included students working with intwdisciplinary artist Brnce Asbestos to challenge ideas
around ihe commercial art world by coming up with incteasingly elabora* ideas on how to stretch a
canvas io its limits. including auaching them to a car by ropes for them to be drngged along a foresi
track.
British visual artisl and filmmaker tAura Cooper is concerned with documenting interspecies
relationships. questioning how filmmaking is both an act of cap¢ure and embrace. As part of the

Midlands4Cilies Doctoral Training Parlnership Laurd was arttsi in residence with Ferniynwoods
Contemporary Art. working with students from The CE Academy to explore filmmaking techniques,
thtnking about camouflage. movement. looking and other animal perspeciives. creating and filming
camouflaged bodies.
Students also woikcd with artists from ihe Bwcoat Collective who travelled from Babylon Arts in
Cambridge to work with the young people to translate a series of experimentsl processes to forni
designs on lole bags.
Pale Blue Dot Collectlve artists Loulse Beer and John Hooper worked with studcnts to provoke
discussion and consideration of climate change, exploring the I{￿al environment through sound.

ALTERNATIVE PROVISION (NORTHANTS HOSPITAL & OUTREACH EDUCATION)

Artists Abble Cannfing and Carol Jacobs continued our provision of artis( led workshops for young
people who cannot attend mainsiream school due io a diagnoseAI complex medical andlor mental
health condition. in partnership with NorthamptOAshlre Hospltal and Outreach Education (NHOE)
to reach children who have been referred to ihem by the child's mainstream school and are supporied
by a m¢dical practitioner.
Workshops took place in NHOE'S Children and Mental Health Inpaiient Units. and NHOE'S
Gatehouse Campus in Ke(tering.
Students worked with Abble Cannlng to create thctile felted sculptures which pr¢xluc¢d digi￿] sounds
upon touch, plus with Carol Jacobs (o ¢￿ale a series of glazed, ceramic plates.
Our digital output with NHOE was showcased ai University of Northampton's Merged Fulures 5
annual innovalion event with a participatory pr￿entatiOn by Fern)ynwoods Direclor James Steventon
and Education Coordinator Stuart Moore.

SEN children from Grange Academy. Bedford worked alongside artist Stuart Moore and dancer,
choreographer and eduutor Darcy Kitchener of Moving Together.
The movement of pupils dancing was ￿ptured digitally. developing new movement sequences
improve confidence and self-expression in pupils. As long-terni memory can be an issue with these
children a digital display was ¢￿ated as a l&sting l¢g¥y for the school foyer area.

Liz Lake
Children from Irthllngborough Nursery and Infant School worked with artist Liz Lake. After
sharing her research into whelher regular sensory aciivities based on early yeaTS education could help
FoundaLion Art and Design learners become more confident in their engagement with materials. Liz
explored the reverse approach through a variety of drawing and mark-making exercises with pupils
that culminaied in 3D paper reliefs.
The fir51 session was based around music. with the pupils drawing to sound with diverse materials
such as sand. chalk. paint, ink and charcoal, in a lively and fun session. In the seeond session t
children looked at ihe DetrOi( artist Charles Mcgee, particularly his patterned relief sculpiures. The
pupils then se( about ¢utling and t&2ring (heir pictures into strips that w¢r¢ then woven, weaved and
twisted together onto coloured mount board. The results looked fantastic and the children and school
were very happy with their oulcomes.

power of school maths classes (o process and validaie ihe proof of ownership of digital artworks.

an alternative to hyper-capitalism.
Children from lrthllngborou8h Nursery and Infant School, Newton Road School and Lodge Park
Academy worked wilh Stuart to create and operate a series of cryptographic machines. such as an
augmenled dial-up lelephone producing unique pa((erns from lights, only able to be replicated by their
own personal codes.
Sludents learned how encrypuon works, siar(ing with simple encryption devices generating 16
combinations, Ihrough to encryption devices generdlin8 over 32,000 differing combinations.
The workshop developed an online da(abase of abstract assets thai sludents came up with (o 'own',
with ideas such a5 'the love of Marie Antoine1￿. and 'the though( process of an ant, being just two!
S(udents created NFfs (o Prove ownership of abs(tact ideas. helping them to grasp the ideas of
auihenucation and ownership.

During their residency with Ferniynwoods Contemporary Art, Pale Blue Dot Collectlve (artists

10 explore young people's thoughts on the environment and climate Change, resulting ID a site specific
sound sculpiute for pennanent installation in the schools sensory garden.
Students undertook a variety of slow Icrf)king and lis*ning aclivities including drawing, collage,
photography and working with a variety of microphones and sound equipment. Siudenls particularly
enjoyed lislening to nature and the sounds of the school SI￿ using a paralK)lic microphone.
LOVE + LIGHT
l*>ve + L4ghi is a new thematic programme of athivity beginning in March 2024.

photographic and sound based instsllation by Pale Blue Dot Collective installed in All Saints
Church, Aldwincle.
Arlists Louise Beer and John Hooper use installaiion, photography and sound to examine our place
within ihe universe. framing the impaci of (he clirnate emergency through the eyes of evoluuon and
Ihe immense time period it has taken for each fonn of life to arrive at this point.
Funded by Northamptonshire Communlty Foundation's Northamptonshire Creative Climate
Action Fund, (he work combined images, sound and light io transport the viewer to an imagined
forest environment. Wilh the artists, inluest in the deep lime nature of our existence on the planet, Ihe

Sound recordings from Fermyn Woods, made wi(h a varieiy of homemade and professional
microphones. were combined with their own archive of field recordings collected from around the
world. The final composiiion (ransported the audience to a foresi outside of our experience. Images
taken under moonlight during their residency were installed in the central body of the church,
juxtaposed with their own as¢ronomical irnagery, prompting us to consider our plac¢ in the wider
cosmos.
Of Immeasurable Consequence was launched with an interactsve telescope viewing session and lalk
with astronomer Paul Fellows.
Pupils from Trinlty C of E Prlmary School visited the instsllaiion for a workshop with Louise and
John in the incredible selling of All Saints Church. Engaging in some deep listening to the
accompanying soundscape. identifying where in ihe Milky Way they would like io visit and designing
their own planets, prompted pupils io consider their relationship to the planet and think about life in
and outside of the universe.
Students from The CE Academy also visiied the installation. explorin8 ihe spxc in Virtual and actual
realily, creaiing astral and earthly phenomena using VR headsets around the installaiion.

From animaling veg to contribuiing to a film about food justice, designing their own climate super
heroes to dethiling a¢tions that can be taken (o contribuie (o saving our planet, pupils were challenged
to consider what actions they could take (o help reduce their impact on the environmeni. Many
children latsr challenged their schools to roluce food waste, improve recycling and even go a day
without electricity.

PMIW assisted Fern)ynwoods in reviewing opportunilies and exploring different models for achieving
our organisational ambiiions within the boundaries of North Northamptonshire, carrying out
organisational and governance reviews to help scope and plan fulure 5tralegy. PMIW engaged with
our leam. Board, partners and key stakeholders, facilitating consultations wilh our artists and our
communities.
PMIW co-authored a route map with the Ferniynwoods team and Board. io inforni our organisalional
developmcnt ovcr the following two years.
A key decision was taken lo vacate our long ierni outreach base, Sudborough Green Lodge, in March
2024. Delivery of our Aliernative Provision programme was transferred io new temporary bases at
East Carlton Country Park and at Stanwick Lakes.
We recrui*d Abble Cannlng io a new posi of Education Curator, to extend the capacity of the
Director and to support our existing team in the delivery of our Aliernalive Provision programme with
The CE Academy, whilst maintaining and strengthening our relationship with Northamptonshlre
Hospltal & Outreach Educatlon. and es(ablishing and developing oiher workshops and partnerships
wilh mainstream and non-mainstream schools. Following a successful probationary period this post
was extend from 2 to 3 days per week.
Garry Hines joined our team as Malernity Cover for our Education Coordinalor Jenny Johnson,
whilst previous siudent placement from Unlverslty of Northampton's BA Childhood and Youih
degree, Sam Lane. took up the FAJucation Coordinator support role until the end of 2023. From 2024
onwards this role was filled by artist Jack Halford. Our new BA Childhood and Youth placement for
the reporting period was Loulsa May Mackenzle. Louisa worked with CE Academy students on our
Alternative Provision programme. in addition to gaining experience in our schools workshop delivery
across Northamptonshire.
Ferniynwoods were recruited io Engage's pilot New Rouies programme, to enable organisalions across
the UK to participate in a placemenc programme for young people 16-21 years, with a support package
of trainin8, collaborative programming, and shared resources facilitated by Engage.
The aim of ihe New Roules pilot is to draw on the expertise. experience, and insights from the
collaborating partners to co-design a new model of training for organisaiions and young people
followed by accessible and flexible paid placements. Engage will work with partner organisations to
pilol a placement and vocational training model thal seeks (o address the lack of diversity wiihin ihe
sector and develop pathways into cultural ¢ducation and employment in areas of low cultural
engagement.
The Board conlinued to define company strafrgy, guide operations, and support the Direclor to
supervise financial management and guide staff in Ihe delivery of our creative and education
programme.

Public Grants: During this period, we received the second payment of an Arts Councll England
National Lottery Project Grani for Xylophobia, tolalling £39,8(M).
Private Income (frusts & Founda¢ionslCorporate Sponsorship): We were awarded £24,607.50 from
NorthamptoL8hlre Community Foundatlon's Northamptonshire Creative Climate Artion Fund
for projects taking place in our Love + iAghi programme:
We were awarded £1,755 from Harpur Trust and £500 Magic Llttle Grant from Localgivlng and
Postcode Places Tnst for arts activity with SEN children at Grange Academy.
We also received ihe support of St Crispin Lodge through a £3.(YM) donation from the Doug185
Compton James Charitable Trust.
Our key service delivery of the annual Workshop programme for The CE Academy brought in a total
of £55,298 during this financial year. The progratnme spanned the end of ihe 2022-2023 academic
year and the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year. We earned £3,51Y) from mainstream school
fees, £145 from Hybrid Workshop tickel sales: £35 from the online shop sales and £1,434 from
miscellaneous donations such as via Corby Lottery.
Following a financial review. a proportion of previously received income (otalling £63,649 will be
reclassified as unrestricied reserves to reflect ihe Trus(ees' commiunent to ensuiing greaier flexibilily
in the allocation of funds, thereby strengthening our capaciiy to respond to emerging opportunilies and
challenges.
This decision underncoRs our dedication lo sustaining the long-ierni financial health of the
organisation while conlinuing to support our mission to support life through art. The reallocation to
unrestricted reserves will enable us to inv￿1 more effectively in our core costs, enhance our
operational resilience, and pursue innovative projec(s that ali8n with our strategic obj¢¢tives.
The Board remain Commiiied to maintaining transparency and accOun￿bIll¢Y in our financial
practices, and this ffclassification is a testament to our proactive approach in managing the
organisation's resources responsibly. We believe that this step will better position us to achieve our

Designed in partnership with LL)ndon based design agency Lowbridge, 3,500 copies of our annual
printed brochures were distributed using an envelope free delivery system using biodegradable crystal
discs made from a renewable source, printed with vegetable based inks on fully sustainable paper. A
proportion of these were distributed via the Dlscover Northamptonshlre hub.
The award of Northamptonshfire Creatlve Climate Action Fund funding was featured in
Northampton Chronlcle & Echo.
Pale Blue Dot Collective's Of Immeasurable Consequence also featured in Northampton Chronlcle

Our Instagram followers increased from 1,299 to 1,493 and our avera8e monthly Facebook pagc likes
from 578 to 606 over the course of the reporung period.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Summary of main actlvltles of the Charity in relatlon to Its obJects
Fermynwoods Contemporary Art delivered an exciting and ambitious programme of rich,
multi-layered and inter-disciplinary arts experien¢¢s. We mixed urban and rurdl, local and
international, high and low tech. in public and virtual spaces across Northamptonshire. We brought
high quality artistic practice to non-traditional arts audiences through collaborations wilh key partners
from within and outside the arts sector.
Highlights of our audience and eD8agement figures:
The launch of Xylophobia.. Online saw an immediate spike in website traffic with an 184.6%
increase in visitors to our website, resulting in a total of 6,400 page views across the reporting
period.
Our Way5 of knowing exhibition was featured on ITV Regional News IAnglia) to an
estimated broadcasi audience of I million people, in addition to favourable coverage on BBC
Radio Northampton and the BBC News website for Northamptonshire. The exhibition at
Barnwell Country Park was visited by approximately 6,000 people over its duration, with
West Northants Council suggesting we had "successfully buoyed the region" attributing an
increase in park visiiors to the exhibition.
We crealed a 153% increas¢ in podcast content this year. with 79% of our listeners discovering
Ihe Fermynwoods Podwt in 2023. The podcast was streamed in 18 different countries
including Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kazakhstan. Australia and USA. 4 episode videos feaiured
in Spotify's top 25
most viewed and our podcast rating remained at 5 stars.

We supported 113 young people (9 not attending mainstream education) to gain Arts Award
qualifications ( l 01 Discovcr. 12 Bronze). plus 6 achieved John Muir Awards.
We worked with 19 campuses, schools. Colleges, universities or hospital inpatient units, plus 2
community groups.
1,223 people (549 adults and 674 children and young people) took part in 106 workshops and
participatory events, generating an addilional audience of 391 people.
We worked with 66 artists, from 10 wuntries and 22 different ethnicities.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Pollcles on reserves
The Charity's funding is committed to expenditure within the scope of restricted funds. It is iherefore
reliant on the success of fuluTe funding applications to enable it to continue its present activities.

The Board of Trustees is satisfied that the charity's assets in each fund are available and adequatc to
fulfil its obligations in respect of each fund.
Transactions and Flnanclal posltlon
The financial staiemenls are set out on page 19 onwards. The financilll statements have been prepared
implementing FRS 102 Staiement of Recommended Practice "Accounting and Reporling by Charities"
(FRS 102 SORP). As stated in the introduction to ihis report, the Trustees consider ihe financial
perforniance by the chariiy during the year to have been satisfactory.
The Statement of Financial Activities show net out8oin8 resources for the ye9J of a revenue nature of
£17,317 (prior year: incoming resources £35,998).
The total reserves at ihe year-end sland at £86,440 (prior year £103,757).
Share Capltsl
The company is limiied by guarante¢ and therefore has no share capital.

The Trustees (who are also the directors of Fennynwoods Contemporary Art Limited for the purposes
of company law) are responsible for preparing the Trnstees, Annual Report and the financial
