The trustees oversee the day to day administration of the trust which is largely driven by the environment and educational needs of the community they support in South Sudan.

This involvement continually generates a number of projects in South Sudan which are largely considered, selected and administered by trustee Carolyn Murray in conjunction with various supporters and responsible members of the Immanuel community.

The Charity is currently supporting the building and resourcing of a 3 classroom school in Yei in South Sudan. There is also a strong focus on training staff to work both in the school and in other parts of South Sudan.

A new project is being researched to develop a link between the established Kindergarten and more remote villages schools where teachers are untrained and resources are minimal.

The charity is grateful for the hard work of the network of volunteers and fundraisers who, together with the trustees and stakeholders in South Sudan, select and implement a number of relevant and worthwhile projects.

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

The significant grant obtained from the Community of St Denys, which will be £41,107 in total has enabled the commencement of the building of new classrooms in South Sudan. A very successful ‘15[th] anniversary celebration’ abseiling event arranged by Carolyn Murray also raised £6,646 for Immanuel. 

The success of the year was marred by the untimely death of Immanuel school headmaster, Malish Simon, in January 2022.

Significant items of income in the year included the interim grant receipt from St Denys, £30,000, the abseil event, £6,646, Donations including gift aid, £5,696 and the bookshop, £3,600. 

Funds of £29,998 were applied for the new school classroom construction together with donations towards a number of other essential resources. These included a generator, £2,656, photocopier, £1,025, a solar panel, £750 and £299 for a laptop for school administrative purposes. An amount of £677 was donated for staff training, £1,449 for office and banking set up costs and £745 for flour and other basic needs.

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
