Aims and Purposes

The Board of Trustees has the responsibility of supporting Rev Bernard Aghedo, the Senior Minister of Kingdom Gospel Church, to provide strategic spiritual leadership and direction for the Trust to fulfil its obligations for the benefits of its members or congregation and the community it seeks to serve.

Objectives and Activities

To advance the Christian faith, in accordance with the church’s Statement of Beliefs, and to pursue such other charitable purposes in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees from time to time may think fit; to relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the provision of funds, goods or services of any kind, including through the provision of counselling and support in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees from time to time may think fit; and to advance education in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees from time to time may think fit.

There are several weekly meetings and activities organised by the Trust aimed at sharing information about the Christian faith and on the wider issues around Christian Education for the benefit of the congregation and the wider community. The Trust have been actively distributing free easy to read and understand literature on the Christian faith, some of them developed in-house by the Trust, some materials were purchased and donated to the Trust while others are complimentary materials from other Christian organisations. The distribution of these literatures is usually done through community outreach initiative, and when visitors attend any of the Trust’s worship services or meetings, where they are offered these literatures free of charge.

Achievements and Performance

With the global increase in the uptake and use of digital technologies, the Trust continues to maintain a strong online presence mainly through the Trust’s website, Facebook page and YouTube channel. These online resources are constantly being updated with various content about the Trust’s work. The website has useful information about the work of the Trust and links to resources like sermons that visitors to the website can stream. There are also links to other free and useful web resources. The Facebook page is particularly useful to advertise the Trust’s key events like the Open Heavens annual summer conference and the annual Thanksgiving Service of the Trust and such other important news and information that the Trust may want to send out from time to time.
The Trust successfully conducted 52 Sunday worship services for the period under review.

The Trust successfully conducted over 60 prayer meetings. These meetings are held online usually in the evening on a weekday, and provided a much-needed forum, open for all, to debate, discuss and reflect on topics learnt.
The Trust also successfully conducted 12 monthly night vigils, one vigil every month. The night vigil is held online on the first Friday night of every month from 00:00am to 3:00am.
The House Fellowship meetings continues every Friday, from 8:00pm – 9:00pm, online. The strategy now is that it is a collective fellowship held online for everyone to attend. Key activities are worship, topical study of the Holy Bible prayer, etc. Feedback from on the House Fellowship meetings have been very good.
The Trust successfully conducted its annual summer conference, Open Heavens 2022, which featured a guest minister. The conference was well attended and successful.
The Trust’s men’s ministry, Kinsmen International, held meetings in the year under review and each meeting had good attendance and provided the opportunity for men to meet with and openly share and discuss men-related issues with other men in the context of prayers, fellowship, support for one another and general networking. The meetings are not limited to only men from the church as it is open to men from other churches and ministries.
The Trust successfully conducted the autumn Thanksgiving/Christmas Service that featured a guest minister. The Thanksgiving Service was also successful and well attended.
The Trust successfully conducted a Cross-over Service on the 31[st] December 2022. This service provided a much-needed forum and opportunity for people to reflect on their experiences in 2022 as they prayed and believed God for the New Year, 2023.
Throughout the year, the Trust received very encouraging support, contributions and donations from members, supporters, and friends.

Financial Review

The Trust’s policy is to invest reserves in various investment options or portfolios to generate more income. The reserves shall be used for community-based projects for the benefit of both the members of the Trust and the wider public. To determine the appropriate investment portfolios, the trustees shall, from time to time, take specialist or expert advice as is necessary to be able to know the best-value, high-yield portfolios to invest in.

For the year under review, the Trust’s major source of income was donations from members of the congregation. Total Income for the year was £37,029.00, while Total Expenditure was £13,196.00 meaning a net surplus of £23,833.00. In addition, at the end of the 2022–2023 financial year, the Trust had cash funds this year end of £93,968.00, showing that the Trust was in a healthy financial state or position.

Structure, Governance, and management

The Trust has a Board of trustees that supports Rev Bernard Aghedo in providing strategic spiritual leadership, oversight, and direction to the congregation. The Trust has a policy of appointing new trustees; the nominated person(s) must undergo full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Through this process, they will be vetted as to their suitability for the role. On completion of the DBS checks, the certificate issued to evidence the satisfactory character of the trustee is held on file. This is the policy of Kingdom Gospel Trust. By policy, the Trust will in return issue a copy of the Trust Deed and a copy of its Child Protection Policy as part of the induction process to every new trustee. No new trustee was appointed in the year under review.

Rev Bernard Aghedo is also supported by volunteers, for various positions and roles, necessary for the operational day to day running of the Trust to meet its commitments and obligations to members and the wider community it serves. The Trustees are grateful to the volunteers for their immense generosity, support, and selfless service.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended DD / MM / YYYY . Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
