CLASSROOMS FOR KENYA TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD 01.09.22 – 31.08.23

Present: Will Richards (co-founder of the Charity), Peter Woodman (former Headteacher at The Weald School), Sarah Edwards (current Headteacher of The Weald School) and Malcolm Peppiatt (the other co-founder of the Charity)

Apologies: Samuel Peppiatt

The meeting was carried out via Teams

Income

A total of £28,808.19 was paid into the C4K account for this period

With the exception of a couple of standing orders from past staff/students the money was generated by the 49 students and staff going on the Kenya Trip 2023 and the Annual School Sponsored Walk. The initiative and creativity the students demonstrate with their fundraising activities continues to amaze and inspire. The huge benefits (to the students) in terms of developing skills that will serve them throughout their lives were once again on full display.

Expenditure

A total of £31,846.09 was spent on building double classrooms at the following schools

The shortfall of £3,037.90 between Income and Expenditure was covered from the ‘Reserves’ in the C4K account

The 2023 Kenya Trip

This hugely successful trip once again provided a truly life-changing experience for all who participated. We are certain the 35 going on the Kenya Trip 2024 will have a similar experience.

It was unanimously agreed that Andy Cooper (Maths teacher and Leader of the 2023 trip) should be invited to become a Trustee of the Classrooms for Kenya Charity. Sarah Edwards agreed to speak to him at the debrief meeting for the 2023 trip.
