Governing Document
The Tow Law Community Association is a charitable company limited by guarantee. It vrfas
incorporated as a company on 11th May 2007 with company number 06244260 arKI regISte￿d as a
Charity on 31st January 2008 with charity number 1122539. 11 is govemed by its Memorandum and
Artlcles of ASS0dat￿ dated 11 May 2007 as amended by ordinary resolution on 16 April 2009.
ReGrultmen( Inductlon and Tralnlng of Trustees
We appointed two new Trustee thts year. Frank and Carolyn Cliff. They were provided with the
approprfate documents relating to govemance and have been suppcAtsd when necessary. We
continue to look for new trustees. No trustees will be stsnding down this year but it is still important for
us lo recrult. We continue lo need to appoint some trustees between 16 to 18 as we slill have no
young representatlves at the moment. An induction arKI training process for trustees to ensure they
are aware of role and responsibilities is in place and an Inducllon pack Is now avallablo for new
trustees.
The Managem•nt Commltt•e
The charity currently has 10 trustees. All live in the Tow Law area apart from our Secretary who lives
in Broompark 9 miles wway. Our Chairman is a Mentor al Durt￿rn University. our Secretary is a retired
solicitor and of our remaining members some are local business people, one is a retired social worker
and the remalnder are retired from fvii time work. Th8 committee meets monthly apart from August
and December and are responsible for overall management of the Centre. The centre carelaker deals
with day to day problems and refers them to the management committee as necessary. All members
of the Management Committee give th8ir11me voluntarity and receive no benefit from Ihe charty.
Rlsk Management
Our blggest rfsk remains maintaining income to meet overheads. We still have a healthy balance on
reserves bul it is reduclng. We continue lo furKI as much ongoing maintenance and repair through
grants bul we still need to be able to fund some with our own funds. Our aim as a committee is to try
and relain as much of this reserve as we can to maintain our solvency into the fulure. The secretary
and treasurer meet regularly *ryth the Chainnan to look at and monitor our finances. We also need to
increase our activities at th8 centr8 to ensure an income stream. Wè need to ensure that the activities
we provide are rèlavant to the local communty and our users and to continue to look at opportunities
to increase those activities.
We also need to recruit rr#Ne Trustees to ensure continuty arKI sustainabilty of tha organlsallon.
We continue to review our Health arKI Safety and other pollcies lo ensure we comply with current
legislation and the premises are as safe as they can be.
In the comiThJ year we wlll need to explore altemative energy contracts as our current ones will come
lo an end in September 2025. We have been protected from the worst of the energy price increases
so faf but will have to look at ways of saving energy in the future.
